Friendly staff, clean hotel in a neat area with good views from our room. Food at the bar was very good as well with nice patio seating that overlooks the bay.
The Inn is beautiful!
The only negative I have is the lack of air conditioning and /or ceiling fans in guest rooms. The windows are set up to open only about an inch. This does not allow for air flow. Very stuffy
Booked three separate rooms for my family (three couples). Two days before arrival, my brother broke his ribs so had to cancel. He was unfortunately just past the free cancellation period so was charged for the stay. The same was the case for myself and my parents in the other two rooms. Myself and my partner decided that we would still go ahead but now needed to source a pet minder. We noticed that Mulranny had a pet friendly apartment so I rang up to see whether we could change to the apartment instead. Given that we had to pay for two rooms that were no longer going to be occupied and were ultimately resold by the hotel, we figured basic customer service would hopefully mean they could allocate us the apartment in lieu of the three rooms they would be getting back. However, this was not the case and was instead met with “computer says no” attitude and no regard for our circumstances.
This lack of customer service continued from the moment we checked in to the hotel. All of the staff seem to either relatively new and inexperienced or just incompetent. The bar staff took forever to get drinks and were unable to manage the drink demand of a relatively small queue.
We ordered food outside and were waiting for 30 mins before deciding to move inside as the wind was crazy. 20 mins later the food arrived out and we could see the waiter go outside with the food. We signalled to her that we had moved and then she came over and gave out for not telling her that we moved…
The staff was great and they tried really hard to make our stay great. However they were understaffed and you could tell that helping hands were missing everywhere. Having a wedding taking over the bar didn't help.
Additionally would not recommend while weddings are on. The loud music could be heard throughout the hotel and people were hanging outside chatting till late and it could be heard in the room too.
Otherwise the room was great, beautiful view and very spacious.
The food was great and well worth the wait.
Overall the hotel is too expensive for the experience you get.
Superb view but hotel seems to feel it doesn’t need to try hard because of that and if you’re placed at the back of the hotel (as we were) you only have views of a car park
Sandra at breakfast very welcoming and friendly but had to ask for items. (Especially eggs) to be replenished and when they were the fried eggs were hard because they had been sitting under a hot plate for too long in the kitchen yet the egg section of the buffet was empty for awhile
At pool lights in ceiling missing or flickering and paint peeling on walls
Steam bath cold. Man said that it was on full power and a part was replaced last week but it’s very old
Gushing water tap over pool as advertised on your website wasn’t working
Told to wear swim cap - had no idea it wa slaw in Ireland and it should be made clear to international customers on your website
Restaurant menu limited
Bar - good selection of 0% beers and other beers on draft and friendly bar manager.
Not a very warm welcome or farewell on reception
Blind on window is see through so as soon as sun rises 0500 the room was bright and lack of privacy. Why no black out curtains like top hotels? Asked reception for eye shades so we could get a decent sleep - told none available
No plugs or usb sockets by the bed at all - only old fashioned round holes.
Can’t switch off WiFi router - we do at home because of fears over emf radiation
No bedside clock or fridge
Couldn't fault the food but bar prices a little excessive
Extremely disappointed. Basic cleaning ignored eg entrance to swimming area ground in dirt. Easily removed by power washing to spots of paint on stairs could be removed. Bedroom tired, dusty, heating not working so had to get potable heater. Bathroom atrocious shower curtain health hazard not fit for purpose. Breakfast although great selection cold shrivelled up and uncovered. I could go on.
Management hostile to constructive criticism
Great pity as stayed here many times in the past.
Needs to be moderized.View is spectacular
We were given a room without a shower door and we found a huge live spider on the carpet. Management was weird.
My husband and I stayed here on a day we went to Achill Island. We only stayed one night here. They have a bar and restaurant attached to the hotel, you do have to make a reservation but we were able to easily make a reservation when we arrived to the hotel. We are in the bar area and the food was very good. The view was beautiful. At night our room got pretty chilly and we weren’t able to figure out how to turn the heat up but we were okay. In the morning we decided to sleep in and missed the complimentary breakfast from 8-10. We did however get a pot of coffee to share a little after 10 which was perfect. The showers were very nice and they do provide a shampoo/body wash combination but did not provide conditioner in the room, this was not a big deal for us as I had some of my own. Overall this is a nice hotel and I would go back and stay again.
Bathroom vent not working properly, not enough electric sockets in room, long mirror covering half of one of the sockets,
Very spacious room. The property is in need of updates. Creaky floors and the breakfast was average. Parking was also annoying.
Excellent short notice trip. Staff and service provided were faultless. Hotel in brilliant location to explore Achill Island and surrounding area.
Older style hotel and we had a pleasant stay. My husband has a CPAP machine and there were no power points by the bed and the staff were helpful and prompt in providing an extension lead for him. Lovely view from our room across the water
Very friendly service
Lovely hotel staff very polite and helpful
What a disappointment. So many things let this hotel down. We had two rooms - both bathrooms had a REALLY foul smell, the window in my room didn’t open, the tv in one room didn’t work, and to use the kettle the tv had to be unplugged.
We were unable to get a restaurant booking so ate in the bar area instead. Service was appalling and one of the waiting staff was very ill-mannered. Not a nice experience.
Wonderful stay. Opt for a sea view if you can - it’s a stunning view. Lovely stylish hotel and a great relaxed ambience.
Lovely staff and great service, airy rooms, but some modernisation needed.
It was a lovely property.
