The location. The hotel was nice. Elevator was out but staff was helpful getting bags.
Our floors were sticky.
The location was perfect as we attended a concert at Bank of America Stadium nearby. Beds were comfortable and shower/bathroom well appointed. Staff were friendly with one exception.
Parking: Valet understaffed resulted in waiting an hour to drop off and pick up car. Room was not ready once we got there at 5:20 despite a 4pm check in time. Check in assistant was curt and unfriendly despite room not being ready. Elevator was out of order for entire stay, my 77 year old mother was directed to stairs by the check in assistant. Staff elevators were operational but off limits. Carpet was wet, like a 3’x4’ section in front of the bed. Bathroom primary sconces did not work despite elaborate dimming capability throughout room.
I recently stayed at The Ivey and left feeling disappointed. The property is beautiful and the location is excellent, but the experience did not match the level of service and quality I expected for the price.
During my stay, one of the elevators was out of service, which created inconvenience throughout the hotel. More concerning was the condition of my shower. The drain was clogged, causing water to pool in the shower and rise like a bathtub while I was using it. This was unpleasant and should have been identified before the room was assigned to a guest.
The hallway also smelled like mildew and looked like they were cleaning up water damage, which added to my concerns about the overall condition of the property.
We were in Charlotte for the EY Entrepreneur Awards and requested a late checkout because our flight was not until 4:30 PM. We were told no, and when we asked if we could at least stay until 11:45 AM, we were again told no without any explanation. This was disappointing and not the level of customer service I expected.
The staff was friendly, and I did not report the shower issue during my stay, so I cannot speak to how it would have been handled. However, for a luxury hotel, basic room maintenance, functionality, and guest accommodations should not be overlooked.
Overall, this was not what I was expecting for the cost of a two-night . I hope this feedback is helpful and that these issues are addressed for future guests.
Ungeschultes und unfreundliches Personal am Empfang. Wussten nicht, ob es ein Tourist Info Center gab und wo es war!!
We just appreciated the friendliness of the staff. They really made an effort to help us. The room was stunning and felt at home.
There was honestly nothing to dislike.
I hate to give The Ivey’s a bad review because I stayed here on another occasion and loved it. Unfortunately, they earned this downgrade. The service during our one night staycation was absolutely abysmal. To begin, we asked the front desk if the alcohol could be removed from our mini bar and wet bar. I think her exact words were, “I’ll have to see if that’s something we can do.” That’s not how five star service works but ok. I informed her it was imperative. The following run around of calls down to the front desk, transfers to in-room dining, being ignored, and more calls (we were being very patient) was kind of ridiculous. When two people finally showed up to remove the alcohol, they were very very kind. Later after dinner when we returned to our room, we tried calling the front desk SEVERAL times to be transferred so that we could order a few bottles of water. Despite having seen the employee sitting at the desk only minutes earlier, she never answered and we never received water. The next morning, we asked for a late check out, and were given a short “that can’t be accommodated today” with no explanation. Mind you the hotel seemed rather sparsely filled (we had seen one other guest the entire stay.) I don’t think I have ever been turned down a late check out in a “five star” hotel. The $30 “cappuccinos” we ordered to the room were watery lattes at best. Finally, at 11:02 as we were literally approaching our door to leave our room, the doorbell rang. It was a lady with a clipboard essentially hurrying us out. She proceeded down the hall to do the same to another room. We have stayed in MANY five star accommodations around the country and world and have NEVER. Not even in a bustling Hampton Inn, been “kicked out” of a room at check-out. We asked another employee upon exiting if they had a lot of arrivals that day, and they were like, “meh… not really”. This hotel needs a refresher course on what hospitality means. These prices do not reflect our experience. The elevator was also out of service. And according to previous reviews, it had been out of service for months. The rooms however, are stunning.
I stopped by Ivey’s Hotel recently to inquire about hosting a small birthday gathering, and I had such a wonderful experience with the staff.
Jasmine at the front desk was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable while answering all of my questions and helping me understand the options available. She made me feel genuinely welcomed from the moment I walked in.
I also want to recognize Joseph, the Director of Food & Beverage, who went above and beyond to make my visit memorable. He generously took the time to show me around the property and share details about the food and event experience. His hospitality, professionalism, and enthusiasm truly stood out.
It’s rare to encounter such warm and attentive service, and both Jasmine and Joseph made a lasting impression. Thank you for such an exceptional experience!
I liked the proximity to the events that I planned . The staff, the amenities and the aesthetics.
There was nothing that I disliked about this property.
Clarissa was extremely kind and professional. She explained in detail the hotel amenities and how to best utilize our benefits. She also provided great recommendations for food and activities in the area. Overall, this was a great experience. 10/10 recommend!
