Nice stay in Santa Cruz
Pros:

Stayed for a couple of nights while visiting Santa Cruz for the first time. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was comfortable clean and spacious. Breakfast was hot and tasty with plenty of options. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in be future.

Hidden Gem Located in Historic Neighborhood
Pros:

The hotel is surprisingly located on a residential street, and yet within the block is everything you'd need for your stay (7-11, deli, restaurants, etc.). The easy, short walks to downtown and the wharf actually enhanced my stay. I was able to enjoy the eclectic neighborhood of Victorian architecture alongside Spanish Colonials and Craftsman bungalows which I would have missed had I stayed closer to the water.

Poor service/ policies
Pros:

Disappointed that I checked in early via my phone, got there at 1pm, wasn't given a room until exactly 3pm. Seemed rather arbitrary to make us wait until 3pm. Feels like another money grab, even a a member.

Also there was someone screaming at 1am as if they were being murdered. Went on for over 30 minutes. Would have been nice if someone at the hotel would have looked into it.

Service - Lots to focus on and fix
Pros:

This is a convenient location, but the service is severely in need of attention and upgrade. I experienced two staff members who engaged with me iwith a defensive and combative posture, housekeeping needed reminders to service the room and often hadn't completed daily rounds when I returned around 4pm. Especially in peak season, the rates (both cash and World of Hyatt points) are not worth it. Extremely disappointing
