It's in a downtown location. La ubicación es céntrica.
They intimidate guests into leaving positive reviews for their stay. I was literally threatened with ejection several times. They messaged me in the middle of the night telling me not to make noise or I’d be kicked out—the strangest part being that I wasn't even in the room at the time. It’s like a retirement home; I wouldn't recommend it for young people, and the price is high for what you get—small TV, no blackout curtains. The floor creaks terribly, and you can hear everything being said at the reception desk. I asked to change rooms and they tried to charge me extra; in the end, I decided to leave because of all the issues. They didn't refund the night and kicked me out abusively a terrible experience.
Tran and I had a wonderful six-night stay at Hotel Boutique Casa Montalvo in the heart of Cuenca’s Old Town. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel less like hotel guests and more like family.
We stayed in the Cottage Suite overlooking the garden. It was peaceful, quiet, and a wonderful place to relax after a day of exploring Cuenca. The hotel’s rooftop terrace is another highlight, with a view of the Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción, Cuenca’s famous New Cathedral.
But what really made our stay special was the people. Wilmer, the owner and manager, was incredibly welcoming and attentive. He is also quite the chef! He works alongside Sonia preparing breakfast, and his plating skills are amazing. He often creates beautiful designs on the plates that made our already delicious breakfasts look almost too good to eat.
Sonia, Marilyn, Guadalupe, Anita, and Madelaine were all wonderful as well. Each of them contributed to making our stay comfortable and enjoyable, and their genuine warmth and kindness were something we will remember.
By the end of our six nights, it truly felt like we were saying goodbye to friends rather than hotel staff. We hope Tran and I left a little of ourselves with them as well, because we certainly took some of their warmth and kindness with us.
We have stayed at many wonderful hotels during our travels around the world, and Hotel Boutique Casa Montalvo is one we will remember for a long time. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cuenca, and we would happily stay there again.
Thank you, Wilmer, Sonia, Marilyn, Guadalupe, Anita, and Madelaine, for making our stay so special! We can't wait to return!
The room was clean and very comfortable and the location was perfect. The staff are ten out of ten.

Exceptional service from the staff who went above and beyond to sort out all sorts of random requests from us! Room was also really jice and very clean. Very reasonably priced laundry service as well, delicious breakfasts and lovely garden area. Location also great, very quiet room while close to the historic centre.
The icing on the cake would have been the ability to make our own tea/coffee in the room as well, but as the staff made us tea free of charge every time we asked, tgis was not a big issue!
Excelente ubicación, lindo hotel , excelente servicio y desayuno de primera
We stayed for 5 nts and the stay was exceptional ! Very cute, clean and small property with less than 10 rooms, beautifully maintained garden. Location in centro was absolutely ideal! The staff from the manager Wilhelm to other such as Hannah, Anita, and Daniel were efficient, warm and friendly.
