Pros:

The Society Hotel is right in the heart of downtown and within walking distance of many Portland favs. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the price for a private room with a shared bathroom was perfect for our budget. The building is gorgeous, historic, and cozy with a rad rooftop for viewing the sunset!

Wonderful accommodating staff. Nice bakery items and made-to-order lattes for bkfast.👍👍
Pros:

Wanted to visit both the Portland Japanese Garden & Chinese Garden that’s 1 block from the Society Hotel. The S.H. staff were SO accommodating! Last time I stayed there was in 2018 and this current stay was just as wonderful.

Don’t pay more than $60 for a queen room here. Just spend bit more on a nicer hotel or do a hostel
Pros:

The cafe on the ground floor is nice. Good way to get good coffee.

Cons:

The rooms are the most basic rooms you could possibly imagine. Just a bed and a sink and nothing else. Basically 0 floor space. They smell a bit weird. But you’re literally just paying for the bed. And you have to share a bathroom with 7 other rooms.

Intelligent, clean, comfortable, and shockingly low priced
Pros:

Very clean, very comfortable and intelligently designed

Cons:

The surrounding area of Portland was surprisingly smelly and dirty. The hotel at South, however was fantastic.
