Pros:

The hotel was conveniently located just off of the highway with easy access to and from the hotel. Everything was very clean and the room was well appointed. Hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We received a personalized welcome note with chocolates and a basket of complementary snacks upon arrival and a personalized thank you note the day we left. I felt so welcomed and valued as a guest.

My overall impression was positive and the problems with cleaning are fixable.
Pros:

The property was very attractive and convenient to Chimney Rock State Park (our destination). I really appreciated that the bathroom near the pool was warm, which made it more comfortable to use when wet. It was also smart to have a shower right in the pool area for folks to rinse off before and after using the pool. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Breakfast offered many more options than most places that include breakfast in the room rate. My daughter has multiple food allergies and she was able to assemble good meals for herself and her very finicky 4-yr old son.

Cons:

They did so many things well that I almost feel bad about pointing out problems, but they are noteworthy. The kitchen dishes were not clean. They looked like they had been wiped down, but not actually washed. Some were visibly greasy or had dried food on the undersides. I prepared to re-wash everything, but there was no dish soap, dish cloth or kitchen towels. Some were brought up after I called the desk. I also found black mold on the ice from the ice machine. At first I thought it was an insect. I took the cup down to the desk. The attendant apologized, but did not appear to be surprised or as concerned as I would have expected. Those problems made me feel less comfortable with the overall level of cleanliness. Some things you cannot unsee!

Eigentlich hat an diesem Hotel fast nichts gestimmt.

Cons:

Sehr ringhörige laute Zimmer! Hundegebell am Morgen. Sehr schlechtes Frühstück. Unfreundliches Personal. Der Pool war superklein und völlig überhitzt.

Like everything except doors not locking at night. I suggest locking all except the front

The grounds were kept up well.

Cons:

Caulking in the bathroom needs to be redone & The doors on the exterior should lock at night keeping the building more secure. We witnessed a domestic dispute between some guests and a lot of side door activity afterward.

Wonderful experience. Beautiful Lodge and great location. Friendly staff and accommodations were top-shelf. Even had a full breakfast in the a.m., not your usual, but hot foods and fresh-cut fruit. Would definitely stay there when I am in the area. Lovely outside area and indoor pool.

Everything about The Lodge at Flat Rock was fabulous! I was welcomed with smiles at the front desk, a personalized letter in my room, and a delightfully comfortable and quiet room. Definitely a lovely stay!!

We had a King Suite. We liked that there was a separate bedroom. Bed was very comfortable
