Just had a weeks stay here after a week on safari. The hotel is idyllic, the service exceptional and the food incredible.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. A special thanks to Moses at the lunch restaurant and Charity and Feliz at dinner. They are an absolute credit to the hotel.
We had such a lovely stay. The customer service was excellent and amongst the best I’ve ever had! Pamela and her team couldn’t do enough. Kenyans are just so lovely! Too many names to mention. Special mention though to Rasta the dog ❤️ Rooms are huge and the beach is very quiet with white sand. Cocktails were strong from my favourite Barman 😆 Food was nice and fine for vegetarians. My husband went to Robinson island with one of our kids to snorkel. We walked it a few days later….only 11km!!! Would we go back? 100% but watch out for the cheeky monkeys and do not leave your doors open!
What a beautiful place, what a very kind team with a very great manager with delicious meals!
And the sightseeing, wonderfull!
Also the team is always ready to help if needed with a big smile. It’s not a staff, it’s a family!
A real place to go!
Asante sana!

We chose the Pinewood Beach Hotel as it appeared to be a quieter place and therefore good for relaxation; we chose well.
Pinewood Beach is about an hour’s drive south of Mombasa and one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. The beach is beautiful white sand with a wonderfully warm Indian Ocean to swim in. The grounds are lush and well maintained and the different bar areas are excellent.
The food is varied with a strong mix of options at breakfast, a lunch menu to cater for kids with fussier tastes and different themes in the evening.
The highlight though is the staff, endlessly cheerful and helpful, a good attention to detail and nothing is too much trouble which makes everything easy and relaxing.
We wanted a quiet place to relax after our week on safari and this was perfect. This is not a huge bustling hotel with tons of people, it never felt anything but chilled. Would recommend to anyone and we will be coming back
Paradise in Diani Beach! This hotel is the dream come true for those of us who want to spend a little bit of time in exotic places with white sand, clear blue water and very comfortable accommodation along with pampering service. Not only the food for half board was always of the highest quality, the staff was changing venues for dinner from the indoor restaurant to the beach and pool every single day. I was watching in disbelief how much effort there was for the staff to relocate tables, chairs and food containers. At the end of the day everything was set up for guests to enjoy the meals followed by entertainment that was sensitively selected to complement rather to overpower the dinner itself.
We stayed in rooms 31 and 32. The aircon was very good. The rooms very clean. The shower was intermittent. The WiFi was intermittent. The staff were wonderful. The food was excellent. Breakfast with fresh fruit and local delicacies freshly cooked. The Mongolian bbq was excellent and the beach bbq also excellent. Boules/darts/table tennis/volleyball/football all enjoyable. A real mixture of nationalities. It is at the bottom end of beach. We had a massage on the beach with Maria who only charged 20 dollars for an hour. There is some seaweed on the beach. Walk left for 5 mins and there is a patch of golden sand with none. Out of the hotels control are the beach boys selling their wares. I appreciate the Kenyan hustle but it is every day. I recommend buying a bracelet or necklace early and wearing it then saying sorry already bought one and generally we were left alone. They are polite and not aggressive. They enjoy bartering and start really high. I suggest about 1/4 of their starting price. We bought a necklace for 5 US dollars. Bracelets for 2-3 US dollars. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Pinewood.
Fantastic experience at Pinewood because of (1) outstanding service from all staff, from housekeeping to front of house. Friendly and sincere staff, always willing to go over and above, (2) excellent food, excellent quality and excellent choice. Evening meals rotated between poolside, beach and main dining area, (3) decor and rooms fabulous, (4) beach quiet and clean, white sand and beautiful ocean at the doorstep. We will be back next year, nothing negative to write. Thank you Pinewood staff.
An excellent 4 Star hotel offering the full luxury white sand beach experience. Highlights include:
* Warm and welcoming staff
* Spacious and comfortable room
* Luxury bedding and very comfortable bed
* Excellent food
* Full range of drinks including premium brands
* Excellent WiFi throughout the hotel, in room and even by the pool
* Beautiful white sand beach and the hotel is literally on the beach
* Highly recommended for a romantic stay but families welcomed too.
Fabulous holiday, beautiful hotel, the staff can’t do enough for you. The food was great, drinks were great and service was great. Asante
I have just returned from a magical 5 days at Pinewood at the end of a wonderful safari. It was the perfect way to relax after being on the road for a week.
The staff are wonderful, the rooms spacious - we had a triple room and weren’t cramped- and beautifully decorated.
The hotel has been designed to just nestle in the environment with palm trees and beautiful planting keeping everything as natural as possible whilst offering great comfort.
Travelling with our coeliac daughter has been challenging at times, but the dinner options were almost all gluten free which was just wonderful. We picked up some gluten free flour in the supermarket and the chef kindly made GF pancakes. Nothing was too much trouble. Not so many options at lunch but we strolled down the beach to the pallet cafe which had plenty of GF treats.
We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Pinewood Beach Resort. Everything was great, everyone in the staff was helpful, warm and welcoming, the buildings and decorations are inspired by local traditions. Food was excellent. Loved having dinner on the beach! Last but not least the beach and the garden is incredible beautiful. Will definitely come back!
We had an incredible experience staying at this beautiful resort. The property is spotless, beautifully maintained, and truly embraces eco-friendly practices without compromising on comfort or luxury. Every detail, from the lush green surroundings to the thoughtfully designed rooms, made our stay unforgettable.
The staff were warm, professional, and always ready to help, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It’s the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature in a serene, sustainable environment. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful and responsible getaway. We’ll definitely be back!
Pinewood Beach Resort and Spa is like going back to your parent’s house for a holiday. The care and service you get from the staff is out of this world. Steven the manager, made our bookings seamlessly easy and once we came in the staff embraced us as if we were a family.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday at the beach with a special dinner and amazing decor and a lobster dinner I have never experienced anywhere. Wyclef and his staff worked all day decorating the place and he brought a small traditional band to play for us at the special dinner. The whole staff came in and sang Happy Birthday as well.
From the beach bar, Kaleb, the lunch servers, dinner servers, our housekeeper, our spa lady, our laundry crew who even ironed our undergarments and everyone in that establishment made our vacation a dream time.
We took the superior beach front view suite and we were pleased.
The place is at the far end of the Diani beach resorts and provide a super quiet and private stay (extremely less beach boys compared to all other establishments)
We recommend this place 100%
On the beach, lush foliage, relaxing atmosphere, good food.
The most remarkable thing about this fantastic resort is the friendliness of the service staff, the cleanliness and the layout of its rooms. Also its direct and almost exclusive access to the beach.
If we had to find any inconvenience, it would be its location, far from populated areas, so you always need transport to make any purchases or visits outside the facilities. Of course, this can be an advantage if what you are looking for is to be in a quiet place. The meals are correct and varied. It is advisable to arrive with small bills, since they tend to not have change. Although the expenses are applied to the room, it is good to have small bills for tips.
Walking along Galu or Diani beach means having to avoid numerous people who approach you to offer you services, souvenirs or simply accompany you by explaining the surroundings. Although they are generally friendly when you say no, walking alone and quietly (both along the beach and along the interior paths) is almost impossible.
We were lucky enough to meet Martin and David (Whatsapp +254 717 656723), who accompanied us almost until the last day whenever we needed them, helping us move around Diani, organizing a snorkel and visit to Robinson Island (cheaper than with agencies) and even preparing us a local ointment against sunburn. They live in the same area and, obviously, you have to pay them, but they were always honest and fair with us, making sure we were well and that we didn't lack anything. Almost like they were personal shoppers (in this case, tour staff). If you have to travel to this area of Kenya and don't want to be locked in the resort, save their number in your cell phone to contact them before or when you are there.
Two final tips: On the one hand, if you go on safari, it is better to book a minimum of two nights in two different parks to multiply the options of seeing a diversity of animals. On the other hand, our experience in visiting Wasini was quite disappointing, both for the organization, for the lunch, and because although the landscape of the islets is beautiful, the inconveniences of traveling do not compensate.
Remember to always have in your mouth: "jambo" - hello, "asante" - thank you, "tafadhali" - please.
Oh! and if you normally live in a city, look at the sky at night. If there are no clouds you can see the Milky Way.
Having traveled to varied countries staying in some great hotels this hotel was right up with the best. We had a ground floor garden suite which was a good size and great patio area with 2 sofas and double bed to lie on and chill watching the monkeys playing around. The food was of great variety and had no problems with it swapping evening venues from beach , pool and restaurant on different nights great variation well done. Having met the owners and family members who where super proud of there hotel rightly so we informed them the staff where a credit to them to many to mention but super friendly well done. Hope to return one day to your super boutique hotel which we found to be ideal for a complete recharge of the batteries 👍
We arrived in the evening after a long day of travelling, having spent 6 days on safari, and were blown away as soon as we walked in. This place really brings the outside in and you feel at one with nature which is incredible in this fast paced day and age. The rooms were stunning, beautifully decorated and spotless, with everything you could need. The pool was kept clean which with the trees overhead was an around the clock job, the staff were incredible. We spent our days by the beach enjoying the breeze and the cheeky monkeys, and even ventured out a couple of times to walk along the beach. We are 2 women travelling and we never felt “unsafe”, the beach boys are relentless but if you just say no thank you no thank you they do leave you alone. The grounds are stunning, with trees, flowers, birds, fish, I really can’t put into words just how incredible it was. And don’t get me started on the fruit, the food, the service, the attention to detail, the staff, the themed restaurant nights, it was just 10/10. If we even came back we would 100% return, no question. This is a family run business and you can really tell the difference, it feels way more than just a hotel, it’s like a home for guests to visit.
Perfect holiday. Friendliest staff ever. Great food. So clean. No complaints.
My wife and I have spent six wonderful nights at this resort. We enjoyed it immensely, the staff and management were very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was amazing, great choice and a varied menu. Each evening dinner is taken at different venues, at the restaurant, by the pool and beside the beach. All beautifully prepared and presented.
There is a decent sized pool with swim up bar, where we enjoyed the milk shakes! Activities are low key. Aqua aerobics which we enjoyed, and volleyball in the afternoons. We did the village tour, and also the Forest and Nature walk which were both very good.
We also enjoyed walking along the beach, in the morning and afternoon, and were not bothered at all by any “beach boys “.
All in all a tremendous resort, and we would not hesitate to visit again.
Many thanks.
