I recently stayed at the Fuji Marriott Hotel Lake Yamanaka and overall had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is nestled in a beautiful location near Lake Yamanaka, surrounded by nature and offering a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for a relaxing getaway. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed, and the service from the staff was consistently courteous and professional.
However, the one major downside was the breakfast system. Breakfast is included in my reservation, but I was surprised to find that guests are required to book a specific time slot in advance. Unfortunately, I checked in later in the evening, and by then, all the convenient breakfast slots were already taken. This left me with either a very late option or none at all—neither of which worked for me, as I had an early departure the next morning.
It's quite inconvenient, especially for travelers who need to leave early and would reasonably expect to make use of the included breakfast. I ultimately had to skip it altogether, which was disappointing. I hope the hotel considers offering more flexible breakfast arrangements in the future, or at least provides some form of alternative (like a takeaway option) for guests in similar situations.
Excelente hotel, location, service and ambiance
While the hotel is in a remote part, there were some good qualities that make the hotel a reasonable destination. The staff for the most part were helpful and friendly. They arranged for bike rentals. The restaurant is basically only available for breakfast which is an excellent breakfast. For food choices outside of that time, you have to walk a bit or find transportation. The public onsen was a definite plus as an amenity for the hotel. Even though we were Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status, the hotel did not particularly recognize nor acknowledge.
Setting was beautiful
Air con in room didn’t work, it was also way too noisy even though it was switched off. The onsen was also continuously running water, even with the tap screwed down hard which should have stopped the flow, this made it very difficult to get to sleep.
Worst Marriott we have ever stayed. Bare minimum amenity (only offer toothbrushes and towels) and outdated rooms. Most of the rooms have NO VIEW of the Fuji Mountain, except certain hot spring rooms. There is a HUGE pet cage in the Tatami room, so be aware if you don't like CAGES in your room. 90% of the menu is American continental and why would anyone wants to fly 14 hours to eat burgers and fries. Difficult to get around and it is far from all restaurants. Extremely disappointing hotel and it is not a 4 star!!
We are so glad that we book this hotel because it's not crowed with tourits (different from Lake Kawaguchi).
The room is spacious, clean, bright, and equipped with everything a traveller needs.
Hotel has two level of hot spring which they switch for men and women everyday so that everyone can enjoy different hot spring experience. It really help relaxing after a long day sightseeing.
The night before we departed snowed heavily which make the view breathtaking when we woke up in the morning.
Hotel staffs are very professional, friendly and helpful with all our needs and especially when the road was closed due to snow, they provide alternative routes for us to drive back to Tokyo safely and quickly.
We will come back to stay here for sure next time when we visit Mt Fuji again.
This hotel was great, transportation was so bad that we ended up staying at hotel the whole time and staff was great, there are so many amenities. Food was good too. Room service was lovely, and the hotel had free shuttle which was a life saver.
I only stayed one night. Regret that I didn’t stayed longer.
Wonderful place, clean, people friendly breakfast is more than good. This hotel is not good, but incredible. Highly recommend. Don’t stay only one night
The Fuji Marriott is secluded so having a car makes traveling a lot more pleasant. The service was excellent and it definitely stood out. The staff made some mistakes during check in (on our first day) and I believe they tried their best to make it right. We stayed 5 nights and the two things thing I didn’t like was the breakfast was the same all 5 days and the hotel couldn’t help me make reservations to external restaurants. I found it odd since we are not from Japan and didn’t speak the language. This is the first time I had a hotel not able to help me with restaurant reservations. Overall we had a lovely stay, the rooms were spacious. If those things can be changed, it would make the hotel even better. But we would still go back despite those things.
Quiet and will be convenient only if you drive.
Rooms size are consider quite big.
Ok in general but it seemed like the staff there are not the most seasoned. The check in was unpleasant for me and I realised that I was not the only one who felt that way because my sister in law who checked in a few hours before me had the same less than pleasant experience that was not what we had come to expect of a Marriott establishment.
This is a lovely hotel with views of Mount Fuji. Its only drawback is that it's in a remote area without any local facilities. This means that it's quiet so you should sleep well. On the other hand food and drink are quite expensive. For example a pint of lager costs approximately 1,600 Yen (about £8) - so these are London prices! We ate here on both of our two nights and the food was delicious. The rooms are a great size, spotlessly clean and had comfortable beds. Service was good and we had a good stay. The best views of Mount Fuji are from the 4th floor landing. Recommended.
