Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing.

We accidentally booked a smoking room and, of course, we acknowledge that this was our mistake. However, we were extremely surprised by the condition of the room. The cigarette smell was not simply that of a room where smoking is permitted, it was extremely strong, deeply ingrained and present throughout the entire room. The smell was so overwhelming that it gave me a headache and made it genuinely difficult to imagine sleeping there. We asked to change rooms, but the hotel was fully booked. We then asked if anything could be done to properly deodorise or deep-clean the room, but unfortunately no satisfactory solution was offered.

The reception service was also very disappointing. The staff were not tourist-friendly at all. Whenever we needed help, we were simply directed towards a machine, with no assistance, guidance or real willingness to help, and very little friendliness or even a smile.

We also asked for help booking a Japanese restaurant because we had to call to make the reservation. We do not have a Japanese phone plan and we do not speak Japanese, so we asked the reception for assistance. The response was simply: “Sorry, I can’t.” Fortunately, the only male receptionist we spoke to was kind enough to actually help us and take the time to assist with the reservation. We really appreciated his help, but unfortunately his attitude was completely different from the rest of the staff.

The bed was also extremely hard and uncomfortable, which made the stay even less pleasant. Finally, the breakfast was very unappealing and honestly did not make us want to eat there.

We completely understand that the smoking-room booking was our own mistake. However, this does not excuse the lack of friendliness, assistance and hospitality, nor the lack of any real effort to address such an overwhelming cigarette smell.
