The location and appearance of the property was period and attractive.
The lack of either air conditioning or ability to introduce outdoor air was a major negative. Even though the outdoor temperatures never exceeded 77 degrees and were as low as 48 in the morning, the room never fell below 80. The toilet was so close to the wall it was not traditionally functional. Finally, with no staff present prior to 0800 or after 1930, there was no one to discuss the issues with.
No breakfast included. No A/C room temperature was 78 degrees all night.
No A/C
right in the middle of Silverton. But the town is very small so that isn't too hard
No air conditioner. Even with the window wide open, the ceiling fan, and a stand up fan, the room was very hot. Hard to sleep. No elevator.
Even when it’s an old hotel they keep it very clean good condition, and location in town
That We Have to carry or luggage to the 3 floor, no air conditioning just a ceiling fan
The Grand Imperial ended up being the perfect unexpected stop after a long day on the trails. With wildfire smoke, changing weather, and campsites filling up, we were relieved to find a reasonably priced room in the heart of Silverton. The hotel's historic character was one of our favorite parts—from the beautifully maintained building to the old-fashioned room key. Check-in was quick and friendly, the renovated room was comfortable, the shower had excellent water pressure, and opening the windows to let the cool mountain air in made for a great night's sleep. The location also made it easy to walk to everything along Main Street.
Parking was the only real challenge. Since there isn't a dedicated parking lot, it comes down to finding street parking nearby, which could be difficult during busy times or bad weather if you're carrying luggage. The satellite TV signal also dropped in and out because of the heavy cloud cover, but that wasn't something the hotel could control.

Hard to get air circulation w no AC
Needs AC installed. Very Warm
Great location, only about 20 minutes from the Ice Lake Basin trailhead.
The hotel is clean, cozy, and well maintained.
The beds were comfortable.
The staff was helpful and brought us an extra fan when we mentioned how hot the room was.
The front desk staff was very kind and even helped us carry some of our luggage upstairs, which we really appreciated since there is no elevator.
The hotel does not have air conditioning. We stayed during the Juneteenth holiday, and the room was extremely hot. The window is very small, so there was almost no ventilation, and even with two fans, it was still very uncomfortable.
The bathroom has no exhaust fan, which made it even warmer.
There was no mini fridge in the room. For the price of the hotel, I think this is a basic amenity, especially for travelers who want to store food or drinks after a day of hiking.
We stayed on the third floor, and there is no elevator. Carrying luggage up and down the stairs in the heat was not pleasant.
The beds are full size. Queen beds would be a much better option for two adults.
Great location , quiet, pleasant staff
nothing
Great location and super friendly staff to greet us.
No air conditioning in the room which was really uncomfortable
Centre of town (tho Silverton is not huge). Comfy bed. Building full of character.
Shower was over a stand alone bath. Looked nice, not great to use.
Perfect location for working at Hardrock 100
Rooms get toasty and wifi is super weak.
The location was perfect! We got to watch all of the 4th of July festivities from our window.
The windows need screens on them. At night bugs come into the room. It was very warm, so you really must open the windows to keep cool.
Drove here took train to Durango..
Bus back up!! Left at 7am..thanks for the coffee!
No elevator!!
Clean, Staff
Did not have an elevator.
