Good choice as a base for exploring a lovely area.
Pros:

Friendly old place in a great central location. Possibly the best pub in town, too. Decent food and good beer mean it can be recommended, on the whole. Needs a bit of modernisation, but still comfortable enough.

Cons:

Room rates are a bit expensive but there’s not a lot of competition in the area.

Very quirky, but lovely with a big log fire.
Pros:

The location is excellent. Very old quirky hotel, oab beams and uneven creaky floors, loved it.
The service and hospitality was unbelievable, needed a late checkout due to a funeral time, no problem. Thankyou. We had a meal there too. Food is fabulous.

Cons:

Can't fault it, but it depends if you like a very old world hotel.

Very interesting historical hotel desperately in need of a lot of renovation.
Pros:

The location was very central in the town.
Good free car park at rear of hotel.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
All the meals were of good quality and reasonable prices.
Very interesting old building.

Cons:

The bedroom was very tired and shabby, the room was clean.
Small single bed with very soft mattress, too soft so uncomfortable.
Cracked tiles in the shower.
Tiles and sealing in the shower require renewal.
Damp areas coming through bathroom ceiling.
Ivy growing through the bathroom window.
Bedroom window rotten and sill falling off.
Window view blocked by foliage and ivy.
Two vertical heater vents just below the bedroom window so if the window was open the room filled with exhaust fumes PLEASE SORT THIS IMMEDIATELY! THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
Some areas of the hotel were great but others were in various stages of disrepair.

Enjoyed the hotel, loved the town, would stay again.
Pros:

Room was very clean with everything we wanted. It was in keeping with the character of the building. The breakfast was excellent, my wife would have liked some fresh fruit. We liked the use of Welsh produce. The staff were very friendly and very professional.

Cons:

A bath mat to prevent slipping in the shower.
