Element West Des Moines

My family stayed in 3 rooms for 1 night in June 2026. I had a 1BR suite, and it was fabulous.

I have stayed in several Element hotels before, and it has become my new favorite chain. This one did not disappoint. The layout of the lobby and suite was similar to other Element hotels, as were the amenities.

Alba was courteous upon check in, and our rooms were ready early (we received mobile key notifications before arrival).

There was plenty of parking and it was no additional cost.

The 1BR suite had so much space, and everything I needed for the night. One aspect I appreciated was the filtered water on tap and ice cube tray in the freezer. I used these to fill up my water bottle before check out for the long drive home.

Bathroom included a glassed-in shower that had sufficient shelves for personal toiletries. There were only two large towels, but there were generously sized which I appreciated.

TV was a little static-y and hard to hear. I wanted to turn it on to drown out the noise from the bar across the street. I had seen this mentioned on other reviews and decided to take my chances because I love the Element brand. It wasn’t horrible, but it was a little distracting. My room faced the bar. The rest of my family had rooms down the other hallway, and they were not affected by the noise. If you are sensitive to noise, request a room far from the bar across the street.

Bed was extremely comfortable, of course.

Breakfast (included with the room) was delicious. Normally my family skips the free breakfast and eats on the road. All 5 of us tried the breakfast here and enjoyed it - made to order pancakes, a yogurt bar with fresh fruit and other toppings, and other hot offerings.

Overall my stay was very pleasant and I would definitely stay again.

This was our first stay at an Element Hotel. The hotel was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The hotel staff were all pleasant. The breakfast included a chef’s station. Today’s choice was a restaurant quality avocado toast. We stayed on the first floor, room 103. It was quiet. There are restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The area feels safe and onsite parking is included.

I booked a room from a group block with a group rate. All my confirmation emails from Marriott reflected that group rate. Upon checkout, my rate was changed to something way higher. The front desk associate would not correct it for me upon checkout, he would have the manager call me that day. No call. I called back later and the front desk associate said I would not have a call back until the next day at 8:00 am. No call. So I called and now they are telling me someone will call me the next day and there is no one they can put me in contact with to get this corrected. Unbelievable... in my 30 plus years traveling and staying at Marriott properties, I have never had such an unprofessional experience. Be sure to check your rate in the folio when you check out of this property!

What a gem! I brought my 10-year-old grandson here for a staycation and we had the best experience! Sparkling clean and beautifully decorated, comfortable beds with cozy linens, an exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff, and little touches like a beer and wine reception, Wii gaming system, and nice pool with thick towels really elevated the experience. We got one of the simplest rooms and it was stocked with real silverware, porcelain dishes, a toaster, microwave, refrigerator, and sink, and a Keurig coffee maker. Honestly, I couldn’t remember how much I had booked the room for and was pleasantly surprised by the folio. This experience was similar to staying at a luxury brand, but at a more affordable price!

The hotel is nice, but it’s the staff that really sets this place apart. Hats off to the management and everyone who works here for making this place so special for guests.

I was already on the Element website looking for properties in other places we are visiting in 2026! Meanwhile, my grandson and I are planning our next staycation at our newfound favorite local spot.

Nice, bright, clean modern hotel with friendly, helpful front desk staff. Plenty of free parking. Great location near restaurants and retail. Spacious room with very comfortable bed and pillows. Love the room-darkening shade. Terrific bathroom - bright, modern, spotless, great water pressure in shower. Very reasonably priced - great value for your money. Would stay here again. Highly recommend.

Wry nice facility with good breakfast and very friendly staff. Cleaning done every other day. Very clean room. Two small issues, very low flows shower head, and no ice machines on premises. Lots nearby in restaurants, convenience store, and shopping

Our room was on the 4th floor, towards the back, so it was quiet and restful. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The front desk personnel, Spencer and Alba were helpful. We had to ask for towels for the pool area, and my husband was short with Alba, but she was still professional and pleasant. (Sorry, Alba!) Later we asked for milk to go with some dessert that we brought back, and she was helpful then as well. I would stay here again.
