We stayed at the Lords of the Manor Hotel as a treat for my wife's birthday and we were not disappointed. We booked the 'Taste of the Cotswolds' package which included a 3-course meal in the main restaurant one night and then the 10 course tasting menu in the Atrium the next night.
The main restaurant menu provided plenty of choice and the food itself was excellent. The tasting menu was absolutely superb, and from start to finish it was a wonderful experience. With each course expertly presented and explained by Carl ensuring you got a real understanding of how the Chef had prepared it, and to those things that you may not immediately know, like, what a Buddha's Hand is. (FYI - It's a citrus fruit with a flavour that belies its strange name and look.)
The breakfast menu also provides plenty of choice and as you come to expect, is delicious.
All members of staff we came across, from the reception, the bar and the restaurant were all friendly, helpful and you felt that nothing was too much trouble. A shout out to Keegan and Sydney for making us feel welcome.
We stayed in room 3-Wrigley which had views over the garden at the back of the hotel and were more than happy with this.
A lovely hotel in a beautiful location, with care and attention from everyone to deliver the best service they can, this is the sort of hotel that provides the standard that other hotels need to aspire to.
But finally, I have to go back to the food, an absolute delight, Head Chef-Charles Smith really is at the top of his game, can't wait to stay again and would highly recommend.
We had the most amazing afternoon tea for my husbands birthday surprise. We arrived with our little dog Rosie who was very much welcomed at the hotel.
From the moment we arrived, the service was completely exceptional — warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive.
Every detail was perfect, from the beautifully presented food to the thoughtful care shown throughout our visit. Nothing was too much trouble, and we felt so welcomed and looked after. It was a truly special experience and an absolute treat. We can’t wait to return in the Summer and would recommend it to everyone!
A dream to stay here & it was just what we thought it would be - Old world & stunning in every way. Every room was so beautiful styled & inviting to sit & just enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our room was spacious & beautiful & had everything we needed. We had a beautiful meal in the dining room & breakfast for the 2 mornings was outstanding. All the staff were friendly & very helpful. We could have stayed for Christmas which would have been super special. Thank everyone at the Manor for making our time with you so lovely & special.
The manor is located in the little hamlet of Upper Slaughter, it’s actually the main structure there. Upon arrival you can drop the bags at the reception and the car can be valeted to the car park at the back. As this splendid-looking house dates to mid-17th century it is full of steps, stairs, cosy rooms and nooks and crannies. There is a well-kept garden at the back.
The reception is on the left from the main entrance. The check in was quick and efficient.
Our Manor Room was located on the first floor. It was spacious with a large bed, plenty of seating and a free- standing wardrobe containing a safety box. There was no AC but the fan was provided.
Tea and coffee facilities as well as bottled water and biscuits were provided.
WiFi signal quality was good.
Bathroom was on the small size but with all the required facilities. Bathrobes and slippers were provided.
We dined at the hotel’s Dining Room restaurant and the food was delicious, especially the duck legs. Wine list was acceptable.
Breakfast was excellent, with selection of bread-rolls, cereals, cheeses and fruit. Cooked dishes were very tasty.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this hotel.
We booked Lords of The Manor for my 60th birthday break.I research all my vacations very thoroughly and after lots of research chose this hotel.
What a brilliant choice it turned out to be. Loved the way how personable and friendly all of the staff are,so much nicer then the snootiness that can sometimes - accompany a country house stay. They seemed like one,big happy family.
I must give a special thank you to the lovely Nune,Hanna and Rhiannon who were so friendly and helpful - A delight and a real compliment to the hotel.
The hotel is just the right size for us,not too big and not too small, with a real homely, country house atmosphere. Loved sitting in the various lounges, fires blazing, with a glass of port in my hand
We stayed in a room called Wrigley which was beautifully appointed with a lovely view over the gardens. Its unusual for hotel rooms to be so quiet.A breath of fresh air.No doors banging or big foot walking around upstairs. Very rare
Breakfast was perfect with great choices, presentation and chilled out atmosphere.
I'm very fussy when it comes to hotels and vacations and 100% recommend this hotel
Exquisite accommodation !staff go above and beyond -delicious food. Honestly, one of my favorite hotel stays ever. the location is absolutely stunning as is the property. You can walk out your door and go out on beautiful walks straight out of a merchant ivory film . highly recommend and hope to return soon - we miss it already! We stayed in a Manor room very large size great amenities incredible service.
Until this visit, this was one of our favourite hotels. Service and food used to be excellent - however not on this occasion.
The room - a Cotswold suite was lovely and the high point of this stay.
Poor communication from the hotel meant we didn’t book in to the atrium restaurant (included in our stay) as we had dogs and were told we could eat with them in the other restaurant. This was not the case!
The standard restaurant is just that - standard fare which is inferior to lots of other local restaurants.
No local produce on the menu- cheese course given with no explanation and poor quality cheeses- a real shame when the local co-op in bourton on the water has such a fantastic cheese counter!!!
All in all a super disappointing stay- look elsewhere if you want great service and good food.
Whately manor, corse lawn hotel etc - there are many in the area!
First time visitors to Lords of the Manor and what a wonderful 4 days we had.Set in the charming village of Upper Slaughter the hotel is beautifully set amidst manicured lawns and gardens.Every member of staff we met was cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner in the hotel on our first night and you can see why the chef has a Michelin star- Food was delicious and superbly presented.
We were both very sad to leave but really hope to return in the not too distant future.
One word: Wonderful! We spent one night at the Lords of the Manor, with another couple, and enjoyed the Signature Tasting Menu, Bed & Breakfast package. From the moment we arrived, the standard of service was superb. Bags taken from us at the car which was then valet parked, followed by a warm welcome at reception and then shown to our room. The bedroom was very well appointed and a clean, modern take on traditional. The bar presented a relaxed surrounds for a pre-dinner drink, and the tasting menu was simply sublime. The next morning gave a chance to walk round the superbly kept gardens and view this lovely manor house from the outside. Above all, every member of staff was supremely pleasant and polite. So, it isn't cheap, but it is 100% worth it for service, food, and surrounds like this.
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were superb and obviously happy. The hotel was immaculate, the grounds are superb and the food was wonderful. We spent a peaceful three days away and this hotel and area ticked every box.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch. We had the set lunch menu. Memorable food, great service felt like a real treat. Very friendly staff.
Drinks variety was great. Did not eat breakfast had to depart prior to the restaurant being open
Great hotel. Excellent service and food
Amazing family owned property. Beautiful spacious rooms, attentive service, phenomenal dining, and large well maintained property grounds.
Delicious afternoon tea for a special occasion. Very attentive staff and all round great experience. Beautiful hotel and grounds.
All good. Superb relaxing after day trip to sightseeing. The manor is so calm and zen. As we were at ground level room, the upper room guests stepping at night can be loud.
Very nice hotel. Staff helpful and the breakfast was lovely.
The room was clean, comfy and well equipped. The bed was very comfy too and the bath towels were big and fluffy.
We did not try the menu for an evening meal so cannot vouch for that.
Good amount of parking as well
Has afternoon tea, easy booking, very well done on the food intolerance. Staff were brilliant. Overall great experience.
The house and area were beautiful! Staff were friendly and very attentive.
One of my favorite places I’ve stayed. I’ll definitely be staying there again on my next visit!!
From the moment I drive into this charming property I felt warmly welcomed. The room was large and well appointed with a renovated bathroom. Dinner in the dining room was delicious. And a walk on the grounds ended a perfect stay!
