The Duniway was very disappointing - hotel entrance was dirty and the lobby was worn, the check-in was efficient at best, elevator was dark and dingy, hall carpet had not been vacuumed recently.
Reluctantly we went ahead and checked in - but once in our room we decided move hotels - the desk person did not care one bit we were checking out and had not one question to as why we were. Fortunately we found another hotel near by - best decision ever!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at The Duniway Hotel in Portland.

Despite having a valid confirmation number and proof that our reservation had been confirmed, the hotel informed us upon arrival that there was no room available. It felt like they had overbooked the hotel and then tried to make it seem as though the problem was somehow on our end, rather than taking responsibility for their mistake. Instead of acknowledging what had happened, we felt completely gaslighted throughout the interaction.

The worst part was that this happened late at night, leaving us stranded with nowhere to stay. There were no hotel rooms available anywhere in Portland or even across the river in Vancouver, Washington, making an already stressful situation significantly worse. After a long day of travel, we were left scrambling with virtually no options because of the hotel’s mistake.

There was little empathy, no meaningful effort to make the situation right, and no sense of urgency despite the circumstances. Mistakes can happen, but how a hotel responds is what defines good customer service. In this case, we were effectively left out to dry even though we had clear proof of our reservation. I expected far better from a hotel in this category and would not recommend staying here based on this experience.

Location was central. Check in was great with upgrade honoured for gold member with extra perks explained.
Room was large but dated and tired so didn’t feel like an upgrade. Perhaps some rooms have been updated.
Bar service was great and breakfast was enjoyable with helpful staff. Overall with perks the value was good.

Right downtown. Parking garage next door. Hotel ambiance was good and had a bar and restaurant area that was convenient.

The Duniway is a well appointed, very “Portland” hotel. The rooms are comfortable, lobby bar a great place to meet friends and family for a card game and a cocktail, and breakfast at Mayrose was delicious (open faced breakfast club for the win!). Gerry at Mayrose was friendly and efficient, while ensuring I didn’t feel rushed with my breakfast. I also appreciated that the front desk at l check in made sure I understood my diamond honors benefits and at checkout confirmed they’d been applied without me asking. After having to chase down billing departments at other properties to get credits applied, it’s always appreciated when the desk is proactive.

Breakfast was fantastic!!! Very helpful and courteous staff - enjoyed our stay.

I love this place and near downtown good service and food hotel look unique for me because just I live in forecast and deer and it kind mean to me

Nice spacious room. Stayed 1 night in king room, beautiful view of downtown. Cute coffee bar in lobby. Room had a sofa and desk area that was nice.

Stayed here a week in early June. Location was great - plenty of walkable restaurants. Interacted with 6-7 of the staff, to a person they were fantastic. The room was quiet and dark and comfortable. I would stay here again.

Comfy bed, plenty of space in the room. Proper desk with good light. Decent shower, nice towels. Lovely having a pool for a swim. Staff were friendly and helpful.
