staff are kind and speak some english
drinks are reasonably priced (large sangria and a corona for €8)
breakfast has options for us fussy eaters, (vegetarian options) dinner was fabulous with lots of english foods!
the pool is way better than the pictures. they don’t do it justice and it has been updated! the sun loungers are so comfy but get there early as there are wars… you can usually always find a space
local shop carrefour VERY near by, cheap!
up at the rooftop bar is a load of gorgeous sunloungers where you can relax! there is no lack of space to relax! music plays and there is live entertainment on the evenings
housekeepers come every day and beds are properly made, they even arranged my jellycat bear, put my shoes away and rolled up my hair straightener which was a lovely personal touch and something they didn’t have to do!
guides are translated into english and german
transfer details and excursions are available at the reception
breakfast 8-10 lunch 1-2 dinner 7-9
pool 10-8
the hairdryer is free and hot!
the area:
there’s not much to do in the area, we recommend if you are wanting barcelona go closer than pineda de mar!!!!!
beach is lovely but a little rocky, sea shoes recommend!
sea front is full of lovely and reasonably priced shops and restaurants/ coffee bars and little habadasheries (I can’t spell that word).
it was my first time travelling without my parents or someone in charge as my partner had never been abroad and we are only 18! we wanted to get the train to barcelona and i was incredibly confused about where we needed to be and ended up having a “panic attack” hyperventilating, crying, the whole sha-bang. an absolute angel of a woman working at the train station came out from behind the booth, she helped me cool down, calm down and then walked me and my partner (who has never been abroad and speaks no Spanish so is no use), to the
correct train. even in the little shops here we have just been met with kindness, i speak only basic spanish as i am still learning and everyone was very encouraging but also speak pretty much fluent english!
con: doesn’t seem to be anywhere to get cold water or drinkable water for free (they seem to be capitalising off the fact you are hot, we payed €3 for two cups of ice and €3 for a bottle of cold water at dinner!!)
- [ ] double bed was just two singles put together, we kept sliding away, there is no way to cuddle or be close and found it hard to get comfy! (we called it the chastity bed, this place is NOT for honeymooners, seriously, we tried and we are young).
- [ ] no amenities such as coffee and tea/ kettle just soaps and hairdryer
please be careful of being scammed by the transfer on the way home!!! we payed £69 to someone who said they were from tui for us!!
don’t forget your suncream!
Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience at this hotel, and we wanted to share it to help others avoid the same disappointment.
From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were bothering the staff every time we asked a simple question at the reception. The front desk staff often seemed cold, annoyed, or simply uninterested. Also, unless you speak fluent Spanish, it’s almost impossible to communicate, no effort is made to speak or understand English or French. For a hotel that claims to welcome international guests, this is a serious issue.
The rooms were fine overall, reasonably clean, but very poorly soundproofed, you can hear everything from the corridors, other rooms, doors slamming, etc. Getting a good night’s rest was nearly impossible.
The meals were fairly good, nothing amazing but acceptable. However, the restaurant atmosphere was terrible: staff yelling across the room, running around in chaos, and even shouting at guests on several occasions. Far from what you’d expect in a relaxing holiday setting.
The worst part, though, was how the shared facilities were managed. We were kicked out of the pool twice, at 7:15 pm and again at 7:20 pm, even though it was supposed to close at 8 pm. The excuse given was “maintenance,” yet we later saw the same staff member who asked us to leave sitting at the bar chatting a few minutes later.
As if that wasn’t enough, we were also asked to leave the bar, right after being served and paying, because of a card tournament scheduled several hours later. The bartender was extremely rude, condescending, and even mocked us openly. Totally unacceptable behavior toward paying guests.
In short, the service was terrible, except for a few genuinely kind employees doing their best amidst the chaos. The management is poor, communication is non-existent, and the overall atmosphere is anything but welcoming.
We absolutely do not recommend this hotel : look elsewhere if you’re hoping for a relaxing, respectful, and enjoyable stay. First time we had to say something but this was very bad. 0 respect to customer. AVOID IT
Really friendly hotel could not do enough for you …food was good not to my taste but very good selection…..very clean….central location all in all a fab holiday will go back 🩷🩷
The hotel is an hour from Barcelona airport. Its centrally located and 10 to 15 mins walk to the beach and lots of shops and restaurants. The train station is also close by. We went to Calella which is one stop away, it has lots of nice alleyway shops. There's a huge market on seafront promenade every Friday. The hotel has very friendly staff and great choice of breakfast and dinner. We had a very pleasant stay there and really enjoyed our holiday.
I was a little nervous about this booking after reading a couple of reviews, but I really didn't need to be. We had a fantastic time here. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good, and the roof top pool was great. It was also excellent value for money, especially compared to other local hotels. I read some complaints about the bells in the church tower - I think it stops from midnight to 8am, so you still get a good sleep. And you can always wear ear plugs if you want a lie in. Overall, I'd definitely recommend for a budget friendly holiday! Thank you Hotel Merce.
Definately budget hotel, even though we didnt pay budget price with Tui.
Met some that paid alot less than what we did.
Standard rooms quite small and definately standard.
We stayed bed and breakfast, standard buffet breakfast, same everyday, bland and boring.Apparently the food is locally sourced, the small sausages at breakfast was obviously sourced out of a tin from a local shop.
Pool area ok,not at all child friendly so dont take your children here, better hotels to stay in.Pool small, even though it looked alot bigger on the photos, but it wasnt, struggle for sunbeds near pool if you get there later then 10.So going there in July and August will be a nightmare.
Evening entertainment at the hotel saturday and sunday only.it was ok.
Staff,a course in customer service is needed for some members on reception, especially middle aged lady with fair hair.Unhelpful and just plain rude.
Barstaff were lovely.
Pineda itself was ok,quiet, plenty of bars and restraurants in walking distance. No entertainment in the bars like singers or musicians.Found one bar at the seafront that had a singer on and that was all.
Alot of Spainish holiday there, and sometimes we felt we were second class citizens, when being served in bars and shops.
Not a great deal of excursions available here.
Weather was fantastic, made the most of our holiday, staying in this hotel.
Definately wouldnt stay in this hotel again,
We did pay more that what it was worth for a week but that was down to Tui.
If we had paid 400-450 each for b n b it may have been worth it,but paying £625 each it certainly wasnt worth the money we had paid for a week,so we were disapointed with standards in the hotel, food, entertainment, some rude staff.
Alot better places to go and stay,so shop around.
Really would bypass this one guys, wish we had done
I don't like leaving a bad review but I always leave a honest review.
This hotel does not do nightly entertainment, it's only on a Saturday and Sunday night and we struggled to find anything to go in Pineda de mar st night other than have a meal.
The rooms are very basic and small. Bed sheets were only cleaned once in a week and we only had clean towels twice in 7 days. Floors were not swept!
We also had a kindle stolen from our room which I reported to the Tui rep who to be honest just wasn't bothered. As it wasn't much money we didn't want to spend a day at the police station but we wanted it reported to the rep in case it happened to someone else so just beware and lock your things up.
The pool is nice but if you have difficulty walking do not go there as it's a roof top bar and although 1 of the lifts go to floor 5 it doesn't work until the pool opens at 10 but you can go and get a sun lounger around 9am. They are all gone by 9.30 so you have no chance if you struggle walking. You can use other sun loungers downstairs but it's so hot you really need the pool near you.
STAFF....... The 2 barmen upstairs were lovely and there is a couple of young girls in the restaurant that are lovely but wow the reception staff are so rude!
We asked about local things like the road train and any various other things and they either didn't understand us or they just didn't care! We had a leak under basin in bathroom and was told to put a towel on floor and my sisters room the air con was leaking and the receptionist just asked her what she wanted her to do and shrugged her shoulders!!!! This was on the same night so they clearly have a problem!!!!
FOOD........ breakfast was ok and we only only 2 evening meal here which was tbh boring! We had a bar snack at lunch which was ok.
OVERALL........ would not go there again as nothing to do in Pineda de mar and we got ignored quite a few times in the shops, no water sports just bars and restaurants.
The hotel just wasn't worth what we paid for it! Rooms too small and nowhere to put anything. Food could be a lot better but the worst thing is the staff who need to go on a customer care course. We didn't find 1 helpful member of staff on reception and they also need to build their knowledge up of the town!
I've given it 2 out of 5 but that's only because it does say it's a budget hotel and we did find 4 staff members which were nice. I wish we had got their names now but hats off to the 2 barmen in the pool bar . ( 1 was older with glasses on ) they were lovely and to the 2 very young girls in the restaurant who were always smiling and polite.
Absolutely amazing value for money!
Faultless staff in every area
Everywhere is spotlessly clean
Food was brilliant different choices every evening!
Never forget the price ! You are paying for this stunning place !
Very good
The hotel is centrally located, and only 10 minute walk from the beach. There is a great pool on the roof and a great views, Lot of seating and lounge chairs for sun bathing. Restaurant has very good food , both hot and cold and good coffee. Would stay here again.
Just got back from a ten day break at Hotel Merce. I honestly couldn't fault it . Set up in the old town so bit of trek to the beach (10 - 15 min walk). I hired a bike and went everywhere on it including towns nearby. Food was of a really quality and the staff were so friendly. i especially liked the roof top pool and bar/terrace with views across the town. very good value for money. I will be back.
Very quiet and well set out for those that want a peaceful night
Beautiful hotel, ideal location everything around bars shops and just a short walk to the beach. Couldn't fault the hotel staff was lovely especially a big shout out to Martha Bosch on reception very helpful when it cane to changing rooms , wasn't a issue so accommodating and understanding. Would recommend this hotel for sure. If out of your holiday you're wanting it to be full of English this isn't the place for you traditional Spanish village which we like . Chilled break away.
The amenities advertised are not what's in our room. No iron for example as advertised no washing machine. The odd staff polite the rest miserable no acknowledgement. The food had no labels until I pointed this out. The pool no where is any advertised says open 10am???? You get what you pay for. If I knew how bad would not of booked. So I value honest constructive feedback. The food my husband gave 4 out of 10. I have lived on cold chips pizza most nights. I am not pork eater nearly ever dish has pork. We were given half toilet roll and 3 those tiny bars soap and in container shampoo condition shower jel all in one cheap
Asked for bath plug. No kettle no coffee facility. When don't drink alcohol awful. Paid thousand just over one week half board extremely disgusting
This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel and is the second brilliant holiday we have had. Rooms are basic clean and comfortable. Cleaning staff come in every day to refresh the room, towels and bedding are changed as necessary. We have stayed here for a total of 28 days and have never had a bad meal, there are always plenty of choice and always a plain option euitable for even the most fussy eaters. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The hotel is on the edge of town in a built up area so you are never going to get great views from the balcony but there is a bar and pool on the roof which gives great views across the town. Snacks and drinks are available on the roof terrace which are very good and competivly priced. The only slight gripe was that what could loosely be described as a balcony was very small. Do not believe some of the bad reports, this is a 2* hotel which compares faveroubly to most Spanish 4* hotels and I would have no problems returning again.
Au top , belle piscine, petit déjeuner et repas large choix
We had a great stay - we had three rooms between three families. The room was basic - we had a balcony however one of our friends did not - just a sky light. Rooms are cleaned daily and plenty of towels were available. The restaurant was sometimes busy and food was ok / but the staff made our day by observing our habits and reserving us a large table for 10 at the back each meal which meant a lot. The staff were great with the kids, producing lolly pops when they were sad and showing great patience when they were challenging. The pool is the gem - just recently refurbished- lovely views and great pool furniture. Only thing we would love to see is an improved kids area - none of the toys worked and the books were all ripped. More could be done to engage the kids! We liked the church noises but it is every fifteen minutes so be aware of that.
1 nuit en famille chambre très mal isolé odeur de cigarette qui rentre car les gens fume sur leurs terrasses qui tombent juste à côté de notre fenêtre
Lit à ressort horrible pour dormir
On arrival we where dropped off on the main road outside the hotel which wasn’t even a 2 min walk didn’t really bother us we where then given a room key not card to our hotel room which took us a while to find, our door was a balcony door which felt unsafe as anyone could see into the room. The room was very small and squished same goes for the bathroom. After my partner had a shower there was a really bad smell coming from the drains so we opened the patio door and bathroom window (which led to a wall and not anywhere outside) after we slept in the room and went down for breakfast we came back up and the smell was still there so we requested a room transfer which was granted. I couldn’t fault our 2nd room it was 10 times nicer than the first nice and big same for the bathroom everything was a lot more modern we didn’t even mind that we didn’t have a balcony although even though we requested a double bed the beds where 2 single beds pushed together. Bar staff and reception staff were very nice the entire stay but I found the restaurant staff to be a bit rude in rushing you out during breakfast I even had a full plate of breakfast taken away while I went to go get myself a drink!. Pool was absolutely freezing and the beach wasn’t the nicest in the world unless you like a pebbly beach. The hotel is right beside a church and no exaggeration whatsoever the bell goes off every 15 mins! Until 11pm at night! And around 6pm the bell would ring constantly for at least 1-2 minutes Overall our stay was okay but the hotel was more a 2 star than 3
