We stayed at El Callejon Hotel last year and it was phenomenal. We invited family and friends this year and wanted to share this experience with them.
Unfortunately, it fell short this year. It started with our arrival. We were received with nothing special whereas last year they had copitas de mezcal and mezcal granita or nieve for us. This year not even a map nor orientation of the attractions near by. I expressed my concern and was reassured they would make it right and that this was due to the fact that the chef had an emergency. I understood and know emergencies happen. But, we were there 5 nights and nothing was made right-not even a map. It was all in the details that were missing this year. Another example, they did not provide us with daily bottled water in the room this year. We had to ask the desk personnel daily. They did not help us to the door this year and ensure we had a taxi despite not being busy and just sitting at the desk.
We enjoyed our stay in Oaxaca with our family and friends but it wasn’t because of El Callejon Hotel. It was just average.
Great stay, everyone very nice and helpful. Location is good, close enough to walk everywhere you’d want in town and far enough away to be quiet.
We moved to El Callejon as our original hotel was not good. From the moment we arrived here we knew we had made a wonderful decision. This is a truly beautiful hotel set in a beautiful oasis of a garden and incredibly calm and relaxing as a result. The staff could not be more hospitable or helpful and I would recommend that anyone staying in Oaxaca stays here, it is a real gem. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making it such a great stay in Oaxaca

Excelente edificación, con una arquitectura preciosa y con un patio interior poblado de vegetación muy agradable. Personal muy amable y dispuestos a ayudar con todo. Disfrutamos de una suite muy bonita y equipada. El desayuno estuvo muy bien.
Está, desde mi punto de vista, en el límite de la zona del centro en la que nos sentíamos seguros por las noches, ya que está muy solitario el barrio a esas horas.
Aunque me consta que el hotel está trabajando para afrontarlo, tiene un problema grave con un local de eventos muy cercano que hace celebraciones estruendosas que duran hasta altas horas de la noche, y que penetran sonoramente en las habitaciones. Si te "toca" un evento, la estancia se amarga un poco. Eso no está en relación con el alto coste de este alojamiento, así que deberían hacer un descuento de mínimo el 50% de la estancia a todos los clientes que sufran esta circunstancia, y no lo están haciendo.

This place was a little slice of paradise! The hotel, room, and staff were above expectations. I cannot recommend it enough to everyone. This will be the hotel I continue to stay at in all my future stays in Oaxaca.
Beautiful place off the beaten trail a bit (but not completely out of the tourist zone) in a quiet neighborhood. The property is lux and lovely. The breakfasts were tasty and the staff was wonderful.

Poorly located - not near the centre. Hard to find - at the end of a lane which is blocked off. Right next to a night club which played extremely loud music from 6pm to the early hours of the morning and the staff were unhelpful. Could hear other guests. Food choice limited. Not value for 770 AU Dollars!

I did think the room was pricey, but I imagine that's based on demand; also we didn't need such a huge living room, but I believe that was all that was available for our dates
Wanted to love this hotel, but the location next to event venue with extremely loud music killed all joy of vacation. We couldn't sleep, talked to front desk they basically can't do anything. Didn't offer us to change room or any compensation for ruined sleep. Would not recommend if you are looking for a quiet chill place. If you party till 2am and only go to hotel room to sleep it might work for you.
This property was beautiful. We enjoyed the service provided by the food and bar staff. Breakfast was a treat, and evening service was very attentive.
The room was clean and everything worked well.
One very unfortunate part of the visit was the fraudulent use of a credit card that was only provided to this hotel. Upon check-in, I noted that the property scanned the credit card (both sides). 24 hours later, a fraudulent charge was attempted, and my bank blocked this attempt. Despite all the positives about this hotel, due to this event, it's not likely I could recommend it to others.
Loved the property and staff. We had good drinks at the bar. There is an event place nearby that plays music until late. It didn't bother us, but our friends said it was loud.
El Callejon is in a great, quiet location. Rooms are beyond spacious and have every amenity needed. Staff go above and beyond! Thank you Tanya, Adrian, Jose, Javier and all staff for a wonderful week!
The personal attention they paid to each guest is top notch. The staff took care of our every need. Breakfast, dinner and cocktails were very good. The Jaguar house felt like home. Comfortable and spacious.
