Hôtel de L'Abbaye Le Tronchet - Handwritten Collection

On est arrivé à 22h environ. quelle surprise...notre chambre avait été attribuée à une autre personne. Nous avons du attendre 45 minutes pour avoir une chambre. Pour nous faire patienter on nous propose une colation...ma femme choisi de l'eau pétillante, on lui apporte une carafe d'eau. On nous donne une chambre ou la clim ne peut pas se régler, ou la douche est défectueuse. on entendait tout y compris les ébats amoureux d'un couple. Bien entendu pas de dédommagement. Cet hôtel ne mérite pas ses étoiles. bref, plus jamais !

Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely ambience around the property. Staff polite, attentive and helpful. Would like to return again soon.

OK, but sad that although they claimed the restaurant was fully booked this was obviously not the case. Tables in the dining room were left unoccupied all evening. More irritating than anything else.

Very nice hotel for sure, but no elevators and not so easy to bring a large suitcase upstairs. Other than that, very nice and quiet hotel.

A beautiful former monastery. The rooms are lovely and there is a kettle with a selection of teabags and instant coffee. The gardens are lovely. The restaurant looked great, but was fully booked so it is worth reserving in advance if you want to eat there.

We absolutely loved it and have just booked again for May 2024. Lovely hotel, superb staff, amazing room snd superb breakfast. We can’t wait to return

Beautiful place to stay. We weren’t here long , but staff was very friendly . The room clean and comfortable . Breakfast with wonderful options . The lady whom was assisting breakfast was extremely kind and attentive to everyone’s needs . I would definitely return

Fantastic service from check in with personal tour of the facilities and to our room. Kind attentive service at breakfast. Lovely location in a quaint Bretagne village with beautiful gardens, heated pool and nice powerful shower. Spacious room. We ate dinner in the nearby town (crepes). We felt like we had the hotel to ourselves. Very quiet. But apparently it is crazy busy with weddings every weekend so we lucked out with a Tuesday stay. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for your hospitality.

Beautiful historic hotel. 30min drive for both Le Mont saint Michele and Saint Malo. Hotel staffs are very kind and helpful.

Good and friendly. No water in the room, but there was tea and coffee.

Very pleasant two day stay in the Saint-Malo region away from the crowded coast for a couple and a golden retriever. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful.
It is set in the grounds of an abbey with extensive, well-maintained grounds overlooking a lake. It's a great place to relax before and after visiting Saint-Malo.
The premises have been carefully removated while retaining as much of the heritage as possible.
We opted on one evening for the no choice six course menu which was developed with considerable flair and creativity from mostly local produce. It would have been good to have had the choice of a wider menu as well. Breakfast was excellent.
The room was very comfortable with direct access to the courtyard which allowed the car park to be parked directly outside.

This would be a great hotel if a large part of the rooms was not in a cheaply-built annex with all the charm of a motel chain, including thin walls and tasteless plastic furniture. Breakfast is adequate, but the restaurant is fine, even though only amenable to a single visit because of its set menu. For any more dinners one is obliged to drive to a nearby village. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The salon is an excellent (and quiet!) place for reading.

Beautiful hotel. Only fault was that we couldn’t eat there as dinner was fully booked. we hadn’t booked in advance! However, they do bar snacks, which were quite fun, although not very substantial.

The old parts of the hotel are full of character retaining some of the history while having been sympathetically modernised. The new parts are in keeping and throughout, the workmanship is of a high standard. Some detail is starting to need maintenance.

The location and grounds are beautiful, however it seems somewhat soulless. It was disappointing that it looked like the only way to access the sauna etc was to pay for private sessions, and the fitness room only had four cardiovascular exercise machines, with none of the strengthening equipment I would expect.

We didn’t visit the restaurant as the menu did not cater for everyone in our group. There was a smell of drainage on our last day, which may or may not have been related to some rainfall.

The morning receptionist was very helpful and pleasant. I would stay here again, but only if I couldn't find somewhere else.
