Beautiful views, friendly and helpful owners. A real home from home
Nothing
The hotel enjoys a superb position overlooking the bay. It is worth paying the extra to have a room with a sea view - room 1 is particularly impressive. Breakfast includes a wide range of choices and caters for all tastes. Sam and Roy are good-humoured hosts, who are ready to provide advice for those new to the area.If visiting the Mevagissey area, you really could not do better than this top-quality hotel.
Fantastic location wonderful view.Lovely welcoming hosts Sam and Roy couldn't be more attentive and accommodating a real home from home feeling.Decor throughout beautifully done.Room large comfy bed lovely bed linen great bathroom.Evening meal prepared by Roy excellent we ate in all three nights of our stay.
Everything was top quality, the owners were so friendly and accommodating, food and facilities were 1stclass
Location was the main problem, and this is not a reflection on the hotel itself. Mevagissey is a very hilly town and most of the hotels and guest houses are up a long steep hill, with no parking in the village centre and limited parking at the hotel, use of your own car is impractical so you either have to book a taxi there( and certainly back!) or accept that once you’re in the hotel, you’re there for the night!
My wife and I stayed at the Mevagissey Bay Hotel for four nights at the end of April. It is beautifully situated overlooking Mevagissey Bay itself with views towards Chapel Point. We felt as though we could sit all evening just enjoying the view.
Sam and Roy could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and perfectly cooked and dinner in the evening was faultless and very good value.
The bed was very comfortable, the shower hot......what more could anybody want!
Great hotel lovely view . But you can hear people in the room above you walking about and talking . Not my cup of tea .
Well done to Sam and Roy. They made our stay the weekend we wanted, relaxed. A lovely warmly hotel, we felt welcome from the start. The breakfast and evening meals were the best. Sam was a fantastic host, asking what our plans were and giving us some tips on the area. A place we will recommend and return to again
The hosts Roy and Sam were brilliant - could not do more to assist.
The views are amazing.
The bed was the most comfortable we have found.
The food, especially the poached eggs at breakfast, could not be better.
The VERY narrow road up the hill - avoid it by coming in from Portmellon.
Back from a weekend stay at Mevagissey Bay Hotel.
Oh my! Such a lovely place, set in a great location with stunning views of the bay.
Sam and Roy are amazing hosts and very welcoming from when you first meet them. With very good knowledge of the area they can recommend plenty of places to visit.
The hotel is spotlessly clean with decor to match its surroundings. With a choice of sea view or garden view rooms you will not be disappointed.
Breakfast is cooked to order, with a choice of full cooked breakfast or continental and dietry needs taken into consideration. Evening meal is offered too and the food is delicious.
We had such a relaxing few days here and have already booked again for later in the year.
Such a gem of a place to find.
This is an excellent hotel in a great location and we were given a wonderful warm welcome. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard throughout. Breakfast was excellent and if you have an evening meal I recommend the cod with the tomatoe tart tatan.
The steps certainly keep you fit!
Nice vegan breakfast for me!
If you need to have music on at breakfast use classical music or soft jazz, not intrusive pop music.
Our hosts Sam and Roy were exemplary ,pleasant helpful and always willing to chat even though they were constantly busy. Very thoughtful, nice people, nothing was too much trouble for them. Both were mines of information about the locale and places to go and eat. Meals at the hotel were great well cooked and presented with ample choice , especially at breakfast. The hotel was spotless throughout, everything looked fresh and clean and cared for. The rooms were entirely adequate for our needs with all facilities working to standard. Parking was very reasonable given the compact hilly nature of Mevagissey. And THE VIEW , breathtaking at all times , from both Dining Room and Bar Lounge , never to be forgotten , but missed already. Plenty of great places to walk and sightsee, and an invigorating but taxing walk down into Mevagissey central. Definitely would revisit despite the long journey from Bognor.
Having to come home,
Stunning view, family run hotel. Owners were really lovely and really helpful. Great breakfast. Definitely worth getting a room with a sea view if available, if not plan to spend some time in the bar to be able to take it in.
Nothing, but do take in recommendation about access. I can imagine driving through Mevagissey during the summer might be really busy.
The owners and staff were amazing. They could not do enough for you. Breakfast was freshly cooked and the service was excellent. The view of the bay was great and you could see it from outside if the weather was suitable or from a beautifully furnished sun lounge. One night we arrived back late and were hungry. Roy offered and made us sandwiches and coffee which was greatly appreciated. Can't recommend them enough.
All good
The hotel is located in a beautiful part of Cornwall with fantastic views of the local bay.
We ate a plentiful and tasty breakfast each day, and ate dinner a couple of times (as well as trying some local restaurants recommended by the hotel), and they were really tasty and good portions. The fish pie and the Tai curry were absolute favourites.
The staff (Sam & Roy, owners, plus all the others) were so friendly, accommodating and helpful and were always more than happy to chat about local sights, attractions or places to eat. They also had an amazing amount of patience with (in my personal opinion) an annoying, disrespectful and somewhat rude guest.
Their bar has a good selection of ales and wine, and there’s plenty of comfortable communal space (bar, lounge and outside decked area) to sit and enjoy a drink.
Rooms are clean (as is the whole hotel) and a decent size with enough storage space and a good-sized shower room, remembering that this is not a massive hotel, but a private hotel.
Oh, and afternoon tea (with scones) is a must as they, too, were really tasty!
If we go back to the area, we’ll stay there again.
