Hotel The Celestine Kyoto Gion

My favorite hotel not only in Kyoto, but honestly one of my favorite hotels ever.
I’ve stayed at many luxury hotels around the world, but experiencing authentic Kyoto style while still having a modern, contemporary feel is something completely different. It has the perfect balance of traditional Kyoto vibes and modern luxury.

The location is also excellent, with many of Kyoto’s main attractions easily accessible from the hotel.

The hotel is exceptionally clean, and the customer service is truly one of the best I’ve experienced.

I even forgot my wallet when I checked out, and the staff tried calling me multiple times to make sure I got it back. That level of care really says a lot about their service.

They provide daily skincare products and toothbrushes, and everything is refreshed every day. They also offer a complimentary happy hour with drinks, alcohol, and snacks, which is such a lovely touch.

This hotel is absolutely worth every penny. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about.

Everything was exceptional

The hotel was an amazing experience from the moment you stepped inside. The location was amazing because many temples and shopping areas were very near and otherwise we just walked to the next bus station. The hotel was modern and very aestetic but still had a traditional japanese touch. The room was very clean and we had plenty of space.

- Excellent hospitality
-⁠ ⁠Tastefully designed. Limited space in Gion district but doesn’t feel cramped at all inside the hotel. Rooms' doors face an indoor skywell containing trees and plantation, which integrates nature into the accommodation. The skywell gives it a spacious feel.
-⁠ Our room is situated on the first floor so there’s no view but a view of the small garden. Plenty of sunlight goes into the room.
- Room design is efficient; utilizes limited space well. Two sliding doors can segregate washing area (snack bar + coffee machine table, toilet room, shower room) from the sleeping area (bed + TV) completely.
•⁠ ⁠Small sauna with a single pool

We really liked our stay at the Hotel Celestine…the location was perfect. Down a quiet street but easily walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. We also used the local train to explore Kyoto and took a quick cab to/from the train station (they do have a shuttle but we arrived late at night and left early in the morning outside of its operational time). The public Onsen was really nice, very clean and not very busy, in fact I had it all to myself. We did have the breakfast one morning and it was fantastic. A lot of food with a huge variety of Japanese and Western cuisine. The staff was very kind and helpful. The room small but nice and clean - it had everything we needed.

A place that makes your Kyoto experience perfect. It is like a serene cradle to return to after a long day full of new experiences. Every detail is thought through. Great breakfast. Beautiful onsen to relax.
And the staff is amazing and very personable. Yuka H. stole our hearts ❤️ :)
