They now accept tatooed people in the public bath, no need to cover it.
I read so many good reviews that I had really high expectations. But I just found it ok, not good value for the money. A bit cold environment, the guest lounge doesn’t really offer anything - different that other hotels in Japan.

Beautiful hotel and rooms. The rooms were spacious by Japanese standards. The hotel is situated in Gion which has a number of great small restaurants and shops within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. The included lounge was a great spot to relax and have a drink and snack and meet other travelers staying at the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel!
Nicely located stylish Michelin key hotel
I was expecting more from the hotel with 1 Michelin Key, but it didn’t feel exceptional, just normal.

could not get place on walking tour despite putting name down . had not been advised booking was required.
Un excellent compromis à Kyoto et IDEALEMENT situé.
Nous avions une Suite Junior et la chambre était vraiment TOP avec un ménage 2 fois par jour et les produits du Minibar renouvelés INTEGRALEMENT tous les jours. Ca parait basic pour un 5 étoiles mais le Celestine est plutôt classé 4 étoiles +.
Le personnel est vraiment Top et aux petits soins !!!
On est dans un hôtel plus abordable donc le PDJ est limité, ça fait très cantine mais bon quand même.
Le quartier est génial, à 2 pas du centre de Gion pour tester tous les restos typiques :-)
2 points noirs pour nous :
- Le Lounge. C'est minuscule et peu approvisionné, soit on fait un VRAI lounge (payant), soit rien car là c'est vraiment pas terrible
- Le Restaurant : nullement adapté aux familles avec un Menu unique mais sans être un restaurant gastronomique non plus donc positionnement très étrange

The property is beautiful! It’s got a great onsen, a shuttle to Kyoto Station, location is superb and the staff is very friendly
I have to give special mention to their Concierge team, they bring their A-game everyday, they planned some amazing meals and experiences for us. Went above and beyond every time.
