Our stay at The Celestine Kyoto was a wonderful experience and one that I'd happily recommend to anyone visiting the city. As a Michelin Key hotel, it lives up to its reputation with impeccable hospitality and a refined, understated sense of luxury.
The staff were exceptionally polite, warm, and always willing to help, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious by Kyoto standards, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The hotel's minimalistic aesthetic creates a calming atmosphere, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the city.
One of the biggest conveniences was the complimentary shuttle service to and from Kyoto Station, which made traveling with luggage effortless. The location is another major advantage, with many of Kyoto's iconic temples, cultural attractions, and charming streets just a short distance away.
The only area where the hotel could improve is its dining options. While the quality of the food is good, the choices are quite limited, particularly for vegetarians and vegans. Having a broader selection would make the experience even better for international travelers with diverse dietary preferences.
Overall, The Celestine Kyoto combines elegant simplicity, outstanding service, and a convenient location to create a truly memorable stay. If you appreciate peaceful, thoughtfully designed hotels with exceptional hospitality, this is an excellent choice for your visit to Kyoto.
Good location within walking distance to sites, shopping, transportation etc. Free shuttle to and from the Kyoto train station. Quiet neighborhood off of the main street so not very busy with traffic. Yukata and slippers provided for the onsen. If visiting Gion again, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The staff was amazing and very helpful as well.
The free guided tour availability was VERY limited and we missed out. Wish the train station shuttle service ran later into the evening.

This is an incredibly beautiful hotel and just the most amazing Japanese aesthetic in historic Kyoto. For the price it is absolutely 5 stars in every single way. Don't expect to compare to say the EU or U.S. or Aus 5-star hotels that are over $700 a night but for Japan it's incredible and exceeds all expectations. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. Free drinks in the bar from 4-6pm.
The staff are amazing, it's just beautiful.
