Disappointed and will not return
Pros:

The lack of cleanliness is clearly letting the hotel down. Built up dirt in many places (e.g. bottom of bathroom door (314) and red carpeted squares around balustrade on stairs, windows) are just a few of many items.

Cons:

Checking staff was helpful but ignoring us when making remarks about cleanliness - reckon more out of embarrassment as it knows that it cannot improve on it. Every new head housekeeper and/or f&b manager always need to improve on targets of their predecessors.

Great stay
Pros:

Excellent location. Comfortable room. Bar and restaurant with obliging, pleasant staff.

Cons:

Shower - old fashioned, shower head fixed to wall, water didn't get very hot, tiny cubicle.
Choice at breakfast didn't match menu.

We should have stayed at a premiere inn.

The location was great for the cathedral

Cons:

The room were allocated was nothing like the photos, the carpet in the hall was dirty and the room was really shabby , chipped furniture and holes in the wall where and headboard had been. The paint work on the windows was flaking. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and around the light fitting, the carpet at the back of the beside table was dirty and the edges of the furniture were dusty. I was asked not to post my review until the hotel had a chance to make things right someone was going to get in touch with me. I waited over a week, emailed to say someone was supposed to get in touch and still nothing.

Overall happy with our selection despite observations and would use again.
Pros:

Location was very good for the Cathedral quarter. Ample car parking and good layout to all facilities being on ground floor. Beds very comfortable. Staff excellent.

Cons:

Lunch then Dinner on first day took too long to deliver. Told it was because of a function in room next door in case of the evening. Constant loud noise throughout evening meal as large food trolley regularly trundled backwards and forwards in front of bar to another private dining area. Decor in the restaurant a bit dated in terms of chairs and carpets.

No semi-skimmed milk on offer on breakfast on second day until too late. No grab rails around what was a very low bath making it awkward to use,.

great staff,great breakfast,rooms and outside look tired.
Pros:

staff were brilliant and helpful.
breakfast was very good with a good choice of hot and cold buffet and extras cooked on request from a menu.
car park is useful and well priced.
best location in the city opposite the cathedral and within easy walk of everything.
view from the room was otstanding.

Cons:

the hotel is getting old and starting to look shabby in places,in need of painting inside and out,broken concrete on the balcony,which does not detract from the stay,but the lack of heat in the bathroom,small wall heater in the room and missing window catches do,if I am paying a higher price than other uphill hotels I would expect the rooms to reflect that premium.
