The Queens Hotel

Ideal for my short stay by the beach. Lovely breakfast and staff very helpful with my dietary requirements.

I had the warmest of receptions when I checked in and the lounge was full of people having fun with a traditional game of bingo. The well-stocked bar was open and the place exemplified pride everywhere: clean, tidy and guest-centred! The room was wonderful, although the view was nothing spectacular, but exceptionallly clean and tidy and well provisioned. All was going very well until I chose to go to sleep. Alas, the couple in the adjacent room launched into a two-hour copulation session where there was no sound-proofing whatsoever. For the next two hours, I was subjected to animalistic noises and the metronomic beating of their bed on my ajoining wall. Not the fault of the hotel, but rather selfish behaviour from other guests when the walls are paper-thin.

Checked in and was asked what time we’d like breakfast the following morning. We booked in for 9:30am only to be told when we arrived for breakfast that it finishes at 9:30. Thankfully the waiting staff were very understanding once we explained the lady on reception allowed us to booked this time slot. We felt that the lady on reception needed some more customer service training!
Have to say, this will be the last time we’ll stay here.

I found the staff lovely but the cleanliness of rooms were poor ground in dust all over grooves of paintwork thick dust stains of coffee all over inside of door pool area floor was green algae under mats showers very dirty in between tiles. The property really does need a good clean that is the only thing that let it down

Basic but great view and location

Lovely hotel, nice sized room, nice sized bar with lounge area and pool table, central location close to town centre, harbour and pier, lovely indoor pool, staff really friendly and helpful, evening entertainment as well, really good value for money, i will book again at some point in the near future but will make sure im not staying right next to the lift as its noisy up until 12am and again from about 6am the following morning.

Very satisfied with the stay, family had a lot of fun especially in the pool. Staff was good, location was excellent. Would definitely recommend for family stay.

This hotel is aimed at people over 65. As a family in our late 40s with a teenager we were the youngest there. The room is very dated with peeling wallpaper and rotting skirting boards and some sign of black mould. It’s not clean and the shower plug was slow draining, the shower head holder was broken and water pressure awful. The room was so hot (outside was high 20s) that I honestly felt someone had the heating on, even with our windows open, the rest of the hotel felt cool but our room was like a sauna. We did ask if there were any fans, which there wasn’t. There is limited parking and we couldn’t use the hotel car park. My booking said beach view, which it wasn’t. Breakfast was mayhem with pensioners not being able to work toasters and food running out . At the 9am slot they’d already run out of bacon for the day . The ceiling tiles in the swimming pool room were missing lots, changing facilities poor, dirty plaster left on side of pool. Entertainment so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think in the bedroom, poor internet, tv didn’t work as bad signal. some parts of the communal area had carpet missing and Carpet lumpy . Only good thing was the location.

Good parking at the rear. 2 minute walk to shops and bars and beach. Very good.

Breakfast is very restricted only to few options...from menu you must choose...order.....you cannot go yourself like a normal hotel when you pay for breakfast included, is fresh painted but you can see in the bathroom stain of mold on the sealing, mattress is old instead have a great staff, free parking ( first come-last come....you must search around 😅🙄 the property), pool ( maximum 10 person's aloud-1h ... pre booked ) , location is close to the beach, pub's, restaurants...is ok . I was but i will search another place next time . 10/10 for staff 👍. I give this review because I'm very disappointed regarding breakfast options 1/10 and mattress.

Average hotel, stayed in worse, stayed in better.

Offered room at front of hotel, very noisy with traffic. Moved to a room over the kitchens, even noisier. Someone throwing chips down for seagulls, after midnight. Delivery vans arriving before 6.00 am right outside my room. Talking and unloading.

Cooked breakfast was very poor, breakfast not very warm, cold beans, burnt toast and very small helpings. Won't be staying again!!

Booked a double room, upgraded on the 4th floor family room?.Too noisy, allocated next to a lift shaft which generated noise late evening and early morning. Reception not very helpful at check-in, issue with deposit on booking with Expedia.

Very pleasant staff. Above and beyond as I struggled to park.
Food is delicious.

We booked last minute as an impromptu trip and were very well accommodated from start to finish, staff were all amazing and the entertainment for our 2 nights was wonderful, our room was very clean and the facilities were good, we booked a swimming spot and the pool though not very big was good and the water was warm, we even had a good win on the bingo so great all round, if you’re looking for a place to stay in Paignton I can’t recommend enough, will definitely be back
