Clean, friendly and location
Hotel in a lovely location. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food locally sourced, delicious and very generous portions. Room clean, towels soft and toiletries provided.
Only one little niggle which I spoke to staff about and that was the height of the mirrors meant I had to do my hair and make up standing up - but this is a personal reference.
Beautiful
All good
New owner… Updated furniture…. Better menu…. Better pricing
Nothing
Good Breakfast, booked and ordered the night before - good idea.
Comfortable bed, lovely view of Middleham Square.
Curious Bedroom furniture arrangement - the wardrobe in the bathroom!
Altogether, a very comfortable , value for money one night stay.
Hotter coffee at breakfast!
The location the breakfast was nice
The bar shut too early we came back one night about 9 pm they were behind the bar but wouldn’t serve us a drink said they were closed not what we expected for the price compared to the hotel we stayed the night before in Beverley
The breakfast was good with reasonable amount of choice. It was well presented and produced to my request i.e. saususage and bacon well done with very good black pudding. The staff were all excellent assisting with luggage and requests in a friendly and helpful way
It is an old hotel and as such had a number of foibles not found in modern ones. The worst aspect was the shower having been squeezed in to satisfy the need for en suite facilities. As such the shower cublcle was minute made worse by the positioning of the shower unit, which itself was very good. A poorly fitted toilet seat was also particularly annoying slipping from side to side when you sat on it. Although excellent and well presented I did feel that the evening meals were overpriced.
Lovely building and location
Front door locks at 9pm open at 9am have to use fire door
Small country hotel. Not part of a chain. Welcoming, clean, good food.
Breakfast was beautiful and the location was great.
Nothing.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly, breakfast choices were good and thoroughly enjoyable. Cleanliness was spot on and location great! We will be back!
Nothing as we were really pleased with everything!
Centrally set in a very traditional and ancient Yorkshire village with views of the castle from our room at the front of the hotel. The staff were all very pleasant and professional. The hotel was very clean. The pre ordered breakfasts were freshly prepared with good produce and fresh fruit. Located in a perfect place to explore this beautiful part of Yorkshire.
Bathroom was a bit on the small side but that would be down to the limitations converting such an old building. But it was fine for our 1 night stay. Parking took a few drives around the town to find a space but that was no fault at all of the hotel.
Wonderful location, quiet country charm
A little quirky in locking down reception and front entrance but not really a dislike just means there’s no night staff to help if you had issue
