Impressive building with very friendly staff and a fantastic location opposite the pier. Town centre was about a 5 minute walk away
Requested rooms together but we were on different floors. Requested a cot in one of the rooms and this had to be organised after Check In.
There was no hot water for an evening shower. I found out the next day that there had been a problem and the heating engineer had been called out that night. This information had not not passed on to the guests the previous day even though the hotel was aware of the problem. Apparently it's ongoing due to the age of the building.
Outstanding food- fantastic value for money! We always return specifically for the three-course meal. Fabulous room, very clean and lots of space. Great pool and facilities. Outstanding customer service- really accommodating. We return every year- my children love this hotel!
The boiler was down- it couldn't be helped, and the staff were very apologetic; however, the cold showers were not fun.
Good breakfast. Helpful receptionist and waiting staff.
Bar lady didn't know about putting brandy in brandy glass. Service a bit slow.
Excellant service from all aspects clean comfy efficinet service and excellant surroundings
No complaints at all
Excellent location. Staff friendly.
Bath needed repair or replacement.
Position near the seafront
Very old fashioned, arrived for breakfast with an hour to closing but much of the food, croissants already gone. People had 2 or 3 on their plates.
Staff said that there were no more
Location, parking access
Dated, no hot water first night, restaurant shuts too early (7.45pm last orders)
Noisy heating and water pipes/drains
No room safe
Small rooms
Excellent service
Loved the atmosphere of the hotel felt very relaxed and no hassle at all , the staff were all friendly and welcoming when me and my mum arrived and could do enough for us and overall made us feel comfortable
The only struggle we had was the windows in our room as the room was so hot and we wanted the windows open we struggled to work them and had to get someone to do it for us but the staff did help us sort the situation
Location is fantastic. Staff friendly and helpful.
Hotel gone downhill fast. Bar prices extortionate. Very tired furniture . Wanted to charge £25 corkage as they didn't sell spirit I prefer. Used this hotel for family visits but will now be trying elsewhere
Breakfast and dinner were very good
Nothing
The pool as a guest.
Shower was a little small.enjoable
We came for 1 night as we were attending a funeral.
Staff were lovely. The young lady on the front desk was particularly helpful.
The bed was comfortable
Room was spacious
Improvement to facilities in the swimming pool are definitely needed.
Dropped something on the bedroom floor and noticed under the bed could be cleaned a bit better.
Always a joy to stay at The Palace as the staff are exceptional. Most of them being there for many years so its lovely to see the same faces.
It is a lovely old elegant hotel with a lot of charm.
The rooms are comfortable and clean and the beds are lovely to sleep in. Big white towels, tea and coffee making facilities and lovely en suite bathroom.
The meals in the restaurant are delicious and hot in the evenings and breakfast is plentiful with a very good choice of fare.
I think some of the appliances in the rooms are getting a little old. The tv in room 31 was so glitchy it was impossible to watch, although I'm sure not everyone does watch tv when away. Also the windows were impossible to open or close. But having said that, these are minor issues that are easily rectified.
Meals were nice, service was good, staff helpful.
Bed was very uncomfortable. Drinks very expensive, watered down orange juice in morning more like orange squash.
Scrambled egg looked and tasted like pre-made, only one toaster for all you had to queue!
Run down does need updating! Badly chipped sink!
