The cabins were nice and clean. I liked that there was a porch with a hammock and chairs to sit on. It was not crowded when we went so we had the pool all to our selves. We saw a toucan and parrots while sitting by the pool. We ate booth dinner and breakfast at the lodge. The food was very good. The price for the dinner was very reasonable considering that it included and appetizer, main dish and dessert. The host were very nice and helpful.
The room did not have AC but it did have 2 fans. When we were there the weather was warm and humid.
The hot water ran out quickly in the shower.
It is a 15 min drive from the center of town.
De mensen zijn echt uitzonderlijk lief! Het was een geweldige ervaring
We had a lovely stay, good breakfast, Catherine was very kind and well informed, booked a great snorkeling tour for us
Quality food, great staff
Staff did put together a lot of stuff to do for us and every thing we asked for was settled in a record time. We were there for new years eve and the tuna was to die for !!!
we saw toucans and other great wildlife in our three days at the property
Thanks Roy for putting up with us !
pool was a bit cold and place is a bit further from the downtown village although the hotel is self sufficient.
The staff were very friendly. We do not speak Spanish but was able to communicate with Google translate. The food cooked was delicious and the atmosphere does make you feel you were in a jungle
It rained a lot when we were there but it did not spoil the experience
Our family just wrapped up a 3 night stay at Hidden Paradise lodge and it was a dream. Beautiful, authentic and just perfect for what we wanted as a family. The staff are so kind, attentive, helpful and true pura vida vibes. We loved every breakfast and dinner so much. The pool was fabulous! Mariela, Jorge and Ryan helped us organize our day trips and we were extremely pleased!! We will be back!
The cabins are located on beautiful grounds, and the room was simple but clean and comfortable, with a good fan. We loved having the little terrace with a hammock.
The pool area was very nice, and welcome in the heat.
The staff were helpful in arranging transfers for us and also booked us on a night tour.
We opted to have lunch on one of the days, which was delicious.
The on-site staff were friendly but didn't speak a huge amount of English, so it was a little difficult to make arrangements at times.
I had informed the staff that I am pescatarian before our trip but was then served meat at breakfast, so would have appreciated this being checked upon arrival. There was no choice given for meals.
We had booked onto the night tour, which I understood would leave on foot from the hotel (as advertised on the hotel website), but then we were told we would need to go back into the town for it, so this was a bit confusing.
The cost of the transfers into the village etc. ended up being quite high, so we had a rather large bill of extras to pay at the end of our stay.
Wifi coverage was not very good, which caused issues when trying to exchange messages with the reception or making card payments.
Spacious and clean room including fridge and towel hangers in the bathroom, room cleaning everyday, staff very friendly and eager to help
1. Friendly staff
2. The area is great for seeing birds, especially in the morning
3. We had a troop of capuchin monkeys swinging in the trees around us
4. The small pool was a good way to relax after a long day of hiking
5. The Hammock outside the room was also very nice to relax in while being in nature.
Great place to choose if you want to be immersed in nature.
Struggled to communicate in English
No Wi-Fi in the room
No fridge in the room - You are allowed to use the fridge of the restaurant
No A/C in the room - We were thankfully given a second fan, so that was okay, but the area is very hot
No temperature control (to my knowledge) in the shower - thankfully was not an issue since it was so hot.
The accommodation was like a cute large treehouse with some power - so ants were living there rent-free - hard to get rid of them - we had to throw away some food.
The whole room creaked a lot, so sleeping wasn't easy because every time one of us moved, it was very noisy.
Make sure to bring ear plugs here, you are RIGHT in the jungle - you will NOT sleep with all the noises of nature because the room does not have closed windows, it has fly screens.
Our biggest issue by far was getting there, as if Drake Bay wasn't enough of an issue to drive to - with no less than 30 kilometres of potholes and HORRENDOUS roads - this accommodation is actually 3-4kilometres further away from Drake Bay - with more horrible roads.
We damaged our rental car getting there and I wish we were made aware of the state of the roads beforehand. No matter what car you have, getting there is not easy.
Even to get IN the accommodation, there is a small dirt road which you can get stuck on because of all the gravel slipping under your tyres.
I hate saying so many negative things but honestly even though the staff were nice, for the price we paid (reasonable as it was...), we could have easily been more comfortable, happier and maybe not have a damaged car, somewhere closer to the centre of Drake Bay.
Brilliant
Nothing
The staff were all so kind and accommodating, and the food served was delicious! The property is located in a lovely part of the jungle, we saw lots of wildlife from our cabin. Would definitely stay here again!
NIce people and very welcoming but not very helpful with helping to book activities
Cottage we stayed in looks somewhat worse than pictures. The mosquito screen needs repair - we had bug fly into room at night
If you have chosen the Osa Peninsula as a vacation destination, than you are prepared to drive through seven rivers and over a plank bridge to get to Drake Bay. Proof that your intrepid nature can handle a shower that is intermittently cool. Although our gracious host changed our cabin for us, it did little to improve the temperture of the "on-demand" hot water and there is no television. No matter. That's not why you came to the Osa anyways! Hidden Paradise Lodge has much to recommend! In a gorgeously wild setting, the cabins are outfitted with what might be described as "rustic elegance". Breakfast and dinner were both varied and excellent.
Simple but confortable bungalows. Very well situated for those wanting direct access to the rain forest. Not so easy for those wanting access to cafés beach and restaurants. Breakfast included and the lunch and dinner cooking excellent but to my mind expensive at $15 for lunch and $25 for dinner. There may be better deals if you take a package. Ask.
Stayed here a few nights in March, 2019. Costa Rica trip for spring break. The cabins were great! Spacious and private. We had a couple of cabins toward the back of the property. Each cabin has a front porch with 1 or 2 hammocks to relax in. Definitely secluded, but very nice stay and central to different areas in Drake Bay. Maria and family were wonderful--cooking was excellent ---delicious food. She set up both of our excursions to Sirena in Corcovado and snorkeling in Isla del Cano. We drove there from the Uvita area--we took the long way that was mostly on rodeway---but about an hour on dirt road--that was quite an adventure. You can also get there by a shorter route by ferry. If you are looking for great hosts and peace and quite--this is the place!!
