What a cool place to stay! It's so impressive; like being in a museum. The video about the renovation is extremely well-done and so educational. It was raining most of the time we were there so we didn't get a chance to tour the grounds. The hotel is very close to a little business district with plenty of eating areas. Again we didn't get to explore too much because of the hard rain.
Location is great. Staff that was welcoming, friendly and doing its best. Rooms were fine and beds very comfortable. Unique setting.
Breakfast buffet was terrible if you weren’t keen on eggs - cereal, one type of yogurt - horrible muffins, no toast. Turns out you could order breakfast but no one told us until the next morning. One waitress who was run off her feet. Over all the bar in the evening and breakfast was very under staffed and existing people had way to much to do but worked very hard to serve.
Overall gloominess of hotel. You were practically sitting in the dark in the breakfast room - I asked the waitress to turn the lights up and she did which helped but someone should have thought about it. Overall the services (not the staff who were lovely and trying very hard) needed better management.
There is lots of potential for this hotel to be a very good one in its unique setting. There was just overall a poor choice in the decor to use grays, blacks and dark woods in an already dark (but striking) building. Suppose there is nothing to do about that. Rooms are starting to look tired - stained chairs and carpets. However they were comfortable and well appointed.
Nichts.
The rooms had very high ceiling. It's clean and comfortable with study desk. It's unique experience with ancient architectural ambience. We enjoyed our stay there. No parking fee on site too.
no mini-fridge in the room.
The architecture is amazing. The location is convenient to many interesting sites. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about the history of the building.
Nothing.
My room was not made up on one day. I was out of the hotel from 10 am - 8 pm.
Breakfast was not included. There were cold cereals, coffee annd tea and like items available. Staff was very wonderful and very accommodating in heating up hot milk for me.
An onsite restaurant that served more than pizza and salad would be nice.
Unique hotel
Food definitely needs to be either included or taken up several notched for the price they are asking for.
Nice boutique hotel. I enjoyed the history and museum was a big plus.
