Food is double priced and just awful
What they call a restaurant is just a couple of broken chairs and tables
You have to wait for your food for 1+ hour
One evening kitchen didn’t work at all
The whole area looks like abandoned 3 years ago
Very weak water pressure and unstable water supply
Room pools are dirty and seem to be not have cleaned for months
Everything in the room is dusty and outdated
The Hotel is situated in the middle of nothere
Poor guest support- nobody’s at the counter
The village is worth visiting: very calm and can boast of its rich nature

We stayed in February and, oh boy, did we enjoy ourselves. A small and incredibly friendly hotel, they would do anything for you, including the food. Just ask the chef what you wanted and, voila, it was availiable later on or the next day.
Our room faced the Ocean, and all we could hear at night were the crashing waves.
A totally unspoilt part of Sri Lanka with a beautiful beach. If you want relaxation, this is where to come.

If you are looking for a place to just relax on the beach and figure out what u gonna do next in your life, this is the perfect place for you, beach was amazing and quite. Room is super clean and cosy. Unforgettable hospitality.

This place really is paradise. I loved everything about this hotel, the rooms, location, amenities,staff, price - it as to be one of the best hotels I've stayed in throughout my years of travel. The owners are just lovely, accommodating and go above and beyond to ensure you have a magical stay. The rooms were very clean, bed was comfortable, view was sensational - located right on the beach. The staff were amazing, friendly and always wearing a smile, they couldn't do enough or you. The outside bathroom and shower was the best, i want one. The breakfast was fit for a king, you could never go hungry and served in the beautiful garden right by the beach. The small plunge pool on the balcony was a prefect place to sit and cool off. I cannot fault this place. If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax and recharge with nature and the beach at your door step, this is the place. I didn't want to leave, and will be back for sure. Thank you for an amazing stay.

This strip of Tangalle beach is quiet and secluded. Great for honeymooners and family.
This beach front hotel is owned and managed by a German& French couple with their daughter, whom will welcome you as family members. We came to slow down after 2 weeks touring Sri Lanka and are loved it, we have made new friends here, and will be combing back next year for a longer stay.
We ate at the hotel restaurant during our 2 days here, because they have a great chef, as well their isn’t much around. Business is slowed everywhere in Sri Lanka after the Easter Sunday bombing.

We had an unforgettable stay. The beach is fantastic and so is Michaela’s hospitality. The hotel has very relaxed and laid back atmosphere which is exactly what one needs in such a location. The room was big and comfortable with unique outdoor bathroom. Breakfasts were deliciois, especially Sri Lankan ones (it is possible to order different kinds of breakfast). The hammocks by the beach were a nice touch, too.

We arrived at this place thinking we had booked a 5 star hotel but it couldn't have been further away from the truth. As we arrived we are greeted by one of the owners, in her dirty stained clothes, she immediately asks me for a lighter to light her cigarette. She then brings us to our large, sea view room where she walks around with the same cigarette, dropping ash all over the floor. The room was clean but far away from spotless, there was a small outside pool on the terrace that was disgustingly dirty, she promised it would have been cleaned that day and two days later it was still like that. The whole building is dangerously unfinished, with metal wires sticking out and a generally disheveled look. The pool, that for some absurd reason does not look over the ocean, was dirty and unavailable for two days. Dinner, surprisingly enough, was delicious, even though the service was a million years away from being that of a 5 star hotel. Breakfast the next morning was an absolute joke: some toast and some fruit, jam is served to guests out of the large jars it was bought in the supermarket, we were offered eggs but only a while after we had finished our breakfast already. The fruit tasted like onions as the same knife was used to cut papaya and onions. It felt like having breakfast at someone's house, and someone who has no idea of what a good breakfast is. Let alone being what a breakfast should be in a 5 star hotel.

When we decided to leave we were essentially threatened that if we would leave a review on Booking.com the owner would have charged us for the night we had booked but weren't willing to use. On top of everything we had to drive in a tuc tuc (and pay for it) all the way to an ATM maching because they had no way to charge a credit card.

Never had we felt so cheated on and upon leaving we felt almost attacked. This place is owned by people who clearly have no idea of the hospitality market and are improvising way beyond their abilities.

FYI: the beach, on the other hand, is absolutely stunning, and fortunately there are other hotels on the beach that make a wonderful job.

This place is going to be amazing, but not just yet, or it depends on what you are looking for. There are 2 rooms available to this date (big, spacious, with beach view, outdoor small pool and outdoor bathroom), but nothing else. It's at the very end of a road, with nothing else around, so you need to know that if you come you are to stay all day long, which is ok if you are looking for tranquility and a getaway for reading and relaxing. The food was average or even poor, specially compare to the delicious and huge breakfast and dinners (also much cheaper) we had in other places in Sri Lanka. The owner was nice and willing, but it lacked the charm and the hospitality of other even smaller or more humble places. There's work to do, and we wish them all the best!

The Taj Tangalle has clean and beautiful rooms with sea view. They cook excellent food, from the pineapple curry to the tuna steak everything is worth to taste it. At the terrasse you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner and get cooled down in the pool. The beach, which is behind the house, is dreamful and you could get the feeling that its just for you. Highly recommendable!

Me and my girlfriend spent 5 nights at this wonderful place. The room was beautiful and very comfortable with an amazing view of the beach. The food was excellent and the staff really friendly an helpfull. If anyone looks for a relaxing and time out days at the beach, this is the most perfect place you! Dont miss this place, we will be back soon!
