Love this B&B!
Pros:

We have stayed here twice in the last month while we were in the area house shopping and visiting friends. We cannot say enough about how great this place is! The owner and his staff are exceptionally friendly and super accommodating. Our second trip we were the only guests in the Inn and that did not stop them from delivering a quality homemade breakfast and taking all the time in the world to make sure we wanted for nothing! We will definitely be back!

First Stay at Herr Ridge - Definitely Recommend.....
Pros:

Had a very good stay at The Inn at Herr Ridge.

Steve helped me when I checked in. He explained where things at the property were located. He also talked about the details of the Inn. I really like history and the Inn at Herr Ridge - as well as many areas at Gettysburg - and Steve mentioned the original building was built in 1815.

The rooms are nice and well equipped. The room I was at had a full restroom with a claw foot tub with a shower. Though some rooms have a jacuzzi tub.

The room was spacious and had a good of amount of furniture and nice décor.

There was a guest journal at the room where several guests have written about their stay and paranormal activity while they were at the room. Thankfully I did not have as noticeable experiences as different guests. Though the second night I was there I did hear little noises that were at the room and there was nothing to explain what was causing them.

There are several common areas the main area being on the second floor with the rooms. It is well equipped with seating and tables and what I could best describe as a full bay type window. The décor throughout the Inn is is cool and historic.

The people who manage the Inn are also very professional, helpful, and nice.

I do not know what the hours are though there is a bar on the first floor.

There is also a restaurant across the parking lot though it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

They also have some things for purchase on the first floor. I got a Inn at Herr Ridge mug.

I like that the property is located not direct on in the city. It is off of a semi rural road with monuments and statues near by. It feels more rural though is not a far drive at all from things that are in the city.

The additional guests that were there were quiet and respectful.

The Inn at Herr Ridge is an additional gem of Gettysburg.

Goldilocks Approved!
Pros:

Just a few words of thanks to both Peggy and Steve for the warm welcome and enjoyable stay at the inn (my 2nd time lodging here). As Goldilocks would say, everything was "just right". I highly recommend The Inn at Herr Ridge to anyone planning an overnight stay in the Gettysburg area. It truly has that "home away from home" feeling ... not 'hotel-ish" at all!

An enjoyable midweek getaway to Gettysburg, PA
Pros:

This is a unique B&B that is perfect for the Gettysburg area. Steve Wolfe has owned this property for over 45 years and is totally involved in the operation with the support of Peggy, Cassandra and others! We usually go to smaller B&Bs but Steve and Peggy are as friendly as smaller operators!

It’s very well cared for and looks very good for an actively used truly historical facility. Our room was perfect with a small deck. The bedroom area is perfectly separated from the bath, toilet and sink area by double doors.

Breakfast was good and hearty with friendly service by Peggy, who like Steve is a long local. She willingly accommodated our special requests.

Overall we couldn’t have been happier!

Wonderful!
Pros:

Inn at Herr Ridge is our favorite place to stay in Gettysburg. All the rooms are different and uniquely decorated. There are so many wonderful period pieces to look at throughout the building. It's very spacious and there are nice common areas throughout. The history of the Inn is so interesting, they have a nice typed up summary of it. It's not far from town and is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills.
Steve, the owner is great, very friendly and a wealth of information. Peggy greeted us at breakfast each morning with a happy smile.
There is a restaurant onsite with a new chef and a new menu, we didn't make it over there however.
Highly recommend the Inn at Herr Ridge!

Thank you for a memorable and wonderful weekend! We’ll be back!
Pros:

It’s been a month since our visit to the Inn and we can’t get our stay out of our minds. When we arrived early for a long anniversary weekend stay and we didn’t expect to surprise Steve (the owner) who was in the middle of setting up our room with an amazing anniversary surprise. He graciously stalled us well and from that moment on we knew we were in for a treat. Our accommodations were booked with Cassandra over the phone and I briefly mentioned it was our anniversary. We didn’t expect the effort and care given to make it an unforgettable weekend, but we were wrong.
The Inn is a spacious historic building that can be found mentioned in many Civil War Gettysburg history books. Over the years Steve has expanded the properties footprint to include more private rooms and houses giving amazing options for guests to choose from. We choose room 14. This room is generally set aside for handicapped accessible guest requirements but being late in the season it was all ours. We loved it. Out of the way, huge jacuzzi tub, it was perfect for us. As veteran B&B guests of many years we often look for the rare gems in lodgings, we found it there. Each morning we were greeted by Peggy who served our breakfast. Peggy is the kind of person that will make you feel at home right away. She’s an asset to the Inn in many ways and it was a true pleasure to get to know her. In fact everyone we encountered during our stay at the Inn was kind and hospitable. Genuine hospitality is hard to find these days and whether it was Cassandra, Steve, Peggy, Joy, Joe, or anyone else we encountered there they made us feel like friends. That’s a lot more than a bed or a breakfast, that’s irreplaceable. We’ve always traveled with the principle that your stay at a B&B is what you make it, but here that’s easily done. We can’t thank you enough for our stay at the Inn at Herr’s Ridge. Your overwhelming hospitality is greatly appreciated and we truly hope to see you again.

Southern Hospitality North of the Mason-Dixon Line
Pros:

From a large parking lot, welcoming entrance, and the beautiful lobby we were greeted warmly. Steve is an excellent host with a knowledgeable and jovial manner. Our room (#1) was clean and inviting with a bed that enveloped you like a warm hug. Breakfast at the Inn and next door at the Livery were both generous and delicious. The staff was outstanding on all accounts and we can't wait to return!!!!

Inn at Herr Ridge is a peaceful getaway, make your reservation!
Pros:

Found this beautiful Inn while looking for a weekend getaway with hubby to celebrate our 27th anniversary. So happy we found this wonderful place! The host Steve was so gracious and welcoming. Rooms are beautifully furnished, bed was so comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The floorboards in the Inn are so magnificent, wide old boards that creak even while standing still. We had the entire Inn to ourselves during the evening, which made it even more special. We were able to explore the Inn and see a couple of other rooms, and the balcony overlooking the battlefield is so peaceful. We cannot wait to return to this beautiful place. For being in a location of such tragedy and violence, it is serene and extremely peaceful, a great getaway if even for a day. Don't forget to buy one of the very nice mugs for sale that they use during breakfast, we came home with 2 and use them every morning. They have the mugs in a variety of colors, and they fit perfectly into your hands.

Wonderful birthday
Pros:

My husband and I went for my 62nd b.day and it was wonderful! We stayed in room 2 and it was charming and cozy. We loved the fireplace and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in.....including our own. I did have a paranormal experience in this room, with someone (my husband was asleep) saying "swish" once i turned the lights out. The breakfast was amazing and absolutely delicious . We will definitely be back.

Historic Property Is Delighful!
Pros:

Steve Wolf and the staff at the Inn at Herr’s Ridge could not have been more accommodating. We loved spending three nights at this historic property while touring the Gettysburg Battlefield. The Inn is authentic, used for a few days as a hospital by the Confederate Army during the Battle. It’s located high on a ridge overlooking fields and mountains. As you drive towards the battlefield on Route 30, you can visualize the Confederate troops moving into place. And the monuments along the way, especially the statue of General Reynolds, killed in action on the first day of the battle, are stunning. We loved entering Gettysburg from this direction and were glad that we didn’t stay in town.

The photos on this listing are misleading. The Inn used to be a larger fine dining venue but has reduced services since COVID. There is no fine dining at this writing, October 2023. However, the Livery Bar & Grill is next door with good bar food and very convenient after a day of touring. We were really glad not to have to drive back into town and deal with Gettysburg parking. The rooms are spacious and clean with antique furnishings. Floors are creaky, lighting is subdued, and the WiFi is not great in some rooms. This is an HISTORIC INN, not a modern hotel. But we loved living the history, and found the experience delightful. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, too! Thanks again to Steve and his staff for a great stay!

Charming place to stay
Pros:

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at The Inn at Herr’s Ridge on Memorial Day weekend. It is a charming place that was built in 1815. We were greeted by the delightful owner, Steve, who showed us to our room. We chose room 16 which is in an adjacent, more modern building. There is a lovely common area consisting of a small kitchen, dining room and sitting room. Our room was quite spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The jacuzzi in the bathroom was a nice bonus! Our children surprised us with a bottle of wine and charcuterie board which we enjoyed on our private deck overlooking the woods towards the battlefield. Some friendly ghosts harmlessly moved around an empty water bottle on our table much to our surprise! I really wanted to give the inn 5 stars but it was disappointing that the fine dining restaurant and bar area in the main building was not open yet. We really looked forward to trying it out. The more casual restaurant and bar was open next door. We did not sample any meals there but did enjoy a drink or two. Willy cooked a delicious breakfast for guests each day, his waffles were amazing! We will definitely return to the inn in the future and recommend it to everyone.
