Pros:

We loved the location! We enjoyed friendly staff and a clean room! Also, the staff made sure to make our bed and give fresh towels to us the first day we were out of our room so we were set for the next day, that was great!

Cons:

Our small refrigerator in our room didn’t really work, not very cold at all. It was also very tiny not much room in it at all. The coffee in the lobby wasn’t hot, had to microwave it after I made it, would have loved flavor creamers for the price paying for hotel and not any continental breakfast.

Nice hotel with lots of history.
Pros:

Very nice hotel with plenty of history. That history is displayed nicely throughout with memorabilia, placards and still used original pieces.
Campfire restaurant had great food.
A bit lacking on amenities for the price though. Most standard rooms do not have fridges or microwaves
No laundry on premises.
That said though, our room was beautifully remodeled. Would revisit again.

Inconvenience with Breakfast add-on billing+restaurant reservation
Pros:

Hotel was clean and the room good. When you book on the hotel website, it prompts you to add on breakfast on the bill which we did. Upon arrival to the restaurant in the morning, the host asked us for reservation and that we have to wait 30' or choose another place in the town. We tried to explain that we have a room with breakfast add on and the concierge told us to give only the room number but they insisted to have a reservation. The next morning, when we checked out, they charged the breakfast in the total of the hotel bill! Good that we checked. There must be a communication problem within the departments. And for a $530+ per night this is unacceptable.

Great place to stay in the mountains
Pros:

Hotel Saranac is the most prominent building in Saranac Lake village. It carries a tradition dating back to its construction in 1927. You can still see its old glamour, which is most prominent on the second floor modeled after Palazzo Davanzati in Florence, Italy. There is a beautiful terrace right outside where you can relax with a view overlooking the mountains and the village. Because it was built in 1920s the rooms and bathrooms tend to be on the smallish side so if you like the taste of history and are cognizant of design limitations you'll have a great time. The Campfire restaurant on the ground floor offers surprisingly high quality meals and impeccable service so it is worth a try. To balance the review, the $35 million renovation from 2013-2018 somehow missed on soundproofing and it is the major downside of the hotel (main building). I was lucky not to have very noisy neighbors in the adjacent rooms but still could hear almost every noise. The entrance doors to the room had major gaps around (see picture taken at night), which was very disappointing. Also, I travel with Hilton worldwide and this was the first time I had to wait for breakfast on my second day because I did not have a reservation, this was very strange because there were lots of empty tables and there were no signs indicating you needed to book the table in advance (as a hotel guest). Overall though a great place to stay.

Lovely location, overpriced for the size of the room and the service, clean, I will not return.
Pros:

The restaurant food and service was good. Bed, linens, towels were nice and comfortable. Easy parking garage, no charge.

Cons:

Room was very small. My room was not serviced after the first night stay. I could hear people in the room below me talking and one person snoring VERY LOUDLY. There was a mix up on my invoice. I was charged two different amounts for each night. The second night was almost twice as much. An adjustment was made but it was not satisfactory. The room came with free breakfast but I was billed for two breakfasts. That was adjusted. There was not enough information given about the hotel and its services.

Will never go there again
Pros:

not much - the few staff we interacted with were very nice.

Cons:

there was no coffee in the room, shouldn't have to go to the lobby to get coffee, there was no provided breakfast - I have NEVER been to a hotel that didn't provide some kind of breakfast. The room was VERY small and awkward to move around in, and we are small people. We did get a mini fridge on request which was appreciated, but then it froze everything. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone

Perfect lodging for relaxing and enjoying Saranac Lake.
Pros:

Great Location, hotel vibe is a mix of historic & new…Great Hall Bar and music!

Cons:

One window in the suite we were in did not have block out curtains, so the bedroom got bright quite early. Also, shower was difficult to work with.

Excellent Hotel and Top Notch Restaurant
Pros:

I spent a few days here with some friends on our annual 'Men's Retreat'. We chose the location because it was walking distance to some restaurants and bars, and because another friend had recommended it. We were very pleased with the hotel and especially the restaurant.
The hotel is cool - with an old school 1920/1930s vibe. Rooms are a little smaller in general but comfortable and well appointed. On the 2nd floor there is the Great Hall (and the Ballroom) which is incredible - a long hall with tables and chairs, shuffleboard, great view, and an excellent bar with some top notch ingredients (and a bartender who knows how to mix them).
On the first floor is the concierge, a gift shop, and the Camp Fire Restaurant. It is beautiful and classy, with light jazz music in the background, and exceptional service (Tyler served us and was top notch). We ended up having breakfast (brunch) here twice and dinner once. No complaints at all. Yes, prices are a bit higher, but the quality is incredible.
Food-wise, I had the Eggs Benny (with a very nice Hollandaise sauce) and the French Toast with side of sausage. Everything was top quality and seemed made in house. We washed it down with excellent coffee and a Bloody Mary (nice but not very spicey). For dinner I had a perfectly cut and cooked Filet Mignon that was delicious. I also had a chunk of the 'special' my buddy ordered... a gigantic tomahawk porkchop that was cooked as perfectly as you can imagine. All of the food was incredible, and the place is open to the public.
