I went to the George Inn to meet family members who were attending a wedding at Selby Abbey, we chose to stay at the George Inn as it was obviously very near
We were told that another company had taken it over and were in the middle of refurbishing the outside. We had no Wi-Fi ,apparently it had been cut off as the previous owners had not paid the bill, and the new owners had not reinstated it ! that was extremely annoying. We were also believing that there would be breakfast, but there was no breakfast or any other food for that matter even though they had a menu in the Rooms .We had to walk right down the high street to get any food!! , and some of us were not very mobile due to poor health. My room was reasonable, but the en suite was awful, the sink had so many cracks in it I was surprised it held any water. I only had 1 shower, as it had mould in the corners and on the ceiling . I really thought the floor was going to collapse that was in front of the shower as it was soggy , I did inform the manager of these issues . We as the Wedding guests that stayed at the George were all very upset about the many problems, what should have been lovely stay certainly was not . I would like to be reimbursed for the service that I was expecting
Hotel was in need of refurbishment. Shower had no pressure. There was mould on ceilings and walls. carpets were threadbare. Paintwork flaking. No wi fi.
Not very much

The ceiling was damp and peeling off
The shower was filthy with a very large damp patch on the ceiling
