I've stay here before and this property has fallen down. There was no on there to check me in when I arrived. I had to call the hotel while standing in front of the check-in area so they knew I was there. Come to find out there was 1 person on duty for the entire hotel. He was checking people in, checking on customer issues, general maintenance and bartending. When I went to the bar to figure out dinner plans, I had a drink but learned they no longer serve food (except breakfast). Then apparently the bar area has become a playground for rude teens to come in and harass the bartender. They asked for sodas and demanded refills. They were loud, obnoxious and disrespectful. They were local kids, not even hotel guests. They did have breakfast, I'll give them credit for that. However, it was very limited.
Hotel Grinnell is a boutique hotel located in a quiet city; very walkable with a park for easy dog walking near by. It is a renovated middle school with wide hallways, unique common spaces and high ceilinged and comfortable rooms.
We understood there was food on-site but the only thing available was charcuterie and we needed more after 11 hours of driving.
Wonderful place, service was excellent.
Thoughtfully appointed. Excellent location. Very helpful staff. Would stay again!
The complimentary breakfast options were a bit disappointing.

There was no Microwave in the room ,the space of fridge is too small ,the breakfast is very bad

Great check in experience. This was the best place to pick in the area hands down for the kids. We had a blast.
They gave us a loft studio and the floors creaked badly and the tiles were coming apart on the floor. Restaurant closed at 9 pm and there was no room service. For the money they charged , it was quite terrible.
Really enjoyed the stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Interesting space in an old school. I would stay there again.

It’s too hands off for me. I realize there’s a new F&B relationship afoot, that should inject some enthusiasm. I expect traditional services, completely absent this visit.
