It was very authentic. Not a lot of creature comforts, but it is a gaol

What an experience! We stayed in “cell” 27 next to the courtyard with a shared bathroom but it felt cosy and not scary at all. The building had been well adapted to a hotel and there’s everything one might need on hand

Il riscaldamento é praticamente inesistente, non sufficiente. La gestione dei bagni é poco sostenibile.
I tuoi rubinetti sono divisi (da un tubo esce la calda e da un tubo la fredda). In sostanza non é miscelabile l'acqua (a parte quella della doccia che é normale).
In sostanza se non si va in inverno é molto bello!
It was an experience! The rooms were well heated before we arrived and the kitchen had decent facilities. The hosts made us feel very welcome and gave us a lot of the history which was great.
Our bed was very squeaky and the walk to the toilet a bit chilly at night. You definitely need to read the description before you book.
A great experience, sleeping in an old goal. The heater provided plenty of warmth, keeping us warm during the night. Loved being able to move around the property and learn more about the history of the property. The communal areas are very nice and inviting. The host was so lovely, calling us the following day to say hello and check in with us, as we did a late check in and didn’t get to meet them in person.

Per la serie una volta nella vita bisogna provare a dormire in una cella di un ex carcere. Giusto!?!?!?
Sinceramente non mi aspettavo un letto King size, una camera ampia e con i comfort, ma mi aspettavo una cella pulita.
Sicuramente scenica, la considero un’esperienza…non mi pento di averla fatta.
Valuto positivamente la chiarezza dei gestori nel dare le informazioni d'accesso.
Aggiungo che abbiamo prenotato la stanza con bagno che include: lavandino e water.
Attenzione che attorno alla struttura non c’è quasi nulla e quel poco che c’è chiude prestissimo, così ci siamo organizzati con qualcosa comprato al supermercato.
I cuscini puzzavano, sul soffitto c’era pieno di ragnatele e la polvere (non di un giorno per intendersi) era un po’ ovunque per quel poco che c’era in stanza.
Sinceramente me l’aspettavo un pochino più pulita.
Inoltre, mi aspettavo un rapporto diretto con i gestori della struttura che abbiamo solo incrociato per sbaglio al nostro arrivo.
Le docce erano un po’ distanti dalla nostra cella e considerato il freddo, abbiamo deciso di soprassedere.

Staying at the Old Mount Gambier Gaol was a unique accommodation experience because it transformed a historic prison into comfortable guest lodging while preserving much of its original character. Guests could sleep in former prison cells and explore the fascinating history of the building, creating an experience that was both memorable and unlike a traditional hotel stay.
While the historic prison setting was interesting, the shared bathrooms and toilets were less convenient than having private facilities. The rooms also did not have a television, which may be a drawback for guests who prefer more traditional hotel amenities and in-room entertainment.

Most of the gaol was open to walk through at any time day of night with facts all around the place. There were plenty of amenitites and the anitial self check in was easy
We saw no staff at all however they were available to contact via phone or sms at any time
Such an interesting property to stay at. I enjoyed reading the historical information on the walls and admiring the beautiful mural painted by a prisoner at the time. The communal areas were lovely and even though there is a spooky element to the stay the accomodation felt welcoming and cozy.
The main pointer I would say would be though it was cool to have the light show the bars at night it was a bit bright when trying to sleep with no way to really block the sensor lights.
