Beautiful grounds. Big clean rooms. Bird feeders.
Limited food choices. Distance from town
The room was comfortable, except the AC kept shutting off. This might have been our fault. We liked our patio but some others' weren't as private. We enjoyed walking around the property. We were disappointed in the food. The buffet one night was not very good. It was better when they had a BBQ. The rest of the menu was limited, we would have enjoyed Casados if offered. We weren't within walking distance of any other restaurants. The staff was nice. There were several tour groups staying there but that was okay.
房间卫生还可以
房间设施设备比较陈旧
Bel emplacement à l'écart du tumulte des villes dans un parc ombragé. Super salle de petit déjeuner. Petit déjeuner copieux et varié. Calme et cosy.
We had to change rooms at this lodge because the air conditioning in our room was just a fan, it was not cooling the room. The temperature was 29C and we cant sleep in that. When it was reported to reception we were told it would be fixed - we were out until dinner and nothing had been done. The maintenance man eventually did try to do something and get coming back in "15 minutes". He tried to convince my wife it was fixed, the display was faulty and it was really 20C when it clearly was not. We were told we could change rooms - around 21.00. We were not packed so left it to the next day when suddenly there was no room available until later in the day. We were again out and the new room when we got it was also hot and the air conditioner turned off after one hour. You cant even cool the room by leaving open windows as the screened windows were jammed shut.
The rooms have a patio with thin net type curtains around them. I'm not sure that all guests realised that if the lights were on at night you could see through these into the rooms unless the curtains were drawn. The roof of this patio leaked in our first room, fortunately not over the rocking chairs.
The bird feeding area was considerably inferior to those at other lodges, although you could see a few birds there.
The library contained a lot of old tatty books and a few newer ones, probably left by other tourists.
The good points were that coffee and chilled water was available at reception for much of the day, a decent sized safe in the room and some of the staff serving at the buffet. Buffet food was adequate, no choice of dessert and a tiny amount of cake. Breakfast started at least 30 minutes later in the morning than the times on the board. Drinks were more expensive than other lodges but since we were annoyed about the air conditioning we chose not to give them any more money by buying alcohol.
I'm told the accommodation at La Selva (which we were visiting) was basic with no air conditioning - it would probably have been better.
Het personeel was erg vriendelijk! Geweldiger plek voor de iets oudere avonturiers
Alles was tiptop
De mooie aangelegde tuin.
Personeel erg behulpzaam
Kamer is erg basic.
Zou prettig geweest zijn als er koffie/theefaciliteiten op de kamer aanwezig is
Nice place for a few nights in Sarapiqui. Big rooms. Lots of places to explore on site and locally.
location was good. breakfast was very good including all necessary elements .
We could see many birds in the area including also caymans in their good size of pool.
We stayed here one night during a group tour of Costa Rica. The hotel is nothing fancy but it's nice, well laid out, and just a neat place to stay. You feel like you're part of nature here. We got to meet the owner and hear a little about their story which was uplifting and inspiring.
The rooms are not fancy, but they're clean, have A/C and even have a semi-private balcony with comfy rocking chairs. The property also has two nice pools and a walking/nature trail.
The restaurant food was very good including some very good BBQ the night we were there. And I'm a BBQ snob!! The misses and I both agreed we would like to stay here longer.
This was my second time in Sarapiqui and rather than spending only two days hopping from place to place, our family decided to spend a week in one place to really learn and enjoy the area. La Quinta was highly recommended, so we gave it a try. We’re so glad we did. As a nature lover, there’s so much to explore just by spending time on the grounds.
I was welcomed to La Quinta by four toucans, regularly saw parrots, honeycreepers, scarlet tanagers, and a mating pair of scarlet macaws, and so many other birds. In the frog area, I regularly spotted the beautiful red eyed tree frogs and many others. Each day I visited the ponds where a caiman is sunning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the food was good, and the accommodations are very inviting. Nice pool, lots of sitting areas, a bar, nature trails, a nice walk to an old farm.
The place has an artsy vibe, a bit off beat, in a nice way. We felt very at home. We used La Quinta as a jumping off point to take a wonderful chocolate tour, evening nature hike in Tirimbina Nature Preserve, a bird walk there on another day, a boat tour along the Sarapiqui River, a canopy tour to the Braulio Carillo National Park, but we barely scratched the surface of all we could have done. We didn’t rent a car and were not on a tour, so they arranged a taxi each time. Next time, I would rent a car.
This place is a diamond in the rough and should not be missed!
Ubicación y fauna
Antiguo y no muy comodo
Traditional wooden with lots of colorful furnishings
Food options good value
Comfortable rooms with air-conditioning. Beautiful gardens and surroundings. Ideal if you are fond of birds as there is a considerable variety, including chicks in a nest. A visit to the neighbouring biological station at La Selva is also well worth including...
