Hôtel Victor Hugo

Check-in was great. Everything clearly and efficiently explained. We were even escorted to our room. For an old building, they have a great tiny lift that can carry luggage/one person (without luggage!) to the higher floors (3 stories about ground level). Floors are a bit creaky and some of the steps are uneven. Nevertheless it was quiet at night. Wonderful garden and courtyard. Helpful staff. Good mid-town location with easy parking. Definitely need a car in the area (e.g. if you’re planning a Mont Saint-Michel trip (about 12 minutes drive away).

Check-in was very accommodating as we arrived early. They allowed is to drop off our luggage a d then gave us a room key in case we were late getting back to the hotel after touring. The room was nice.
Weird “showering” in a bathtub.
There was an elevator there unlike one I’ve seen or used before (see photo.) Reception was a little late for our check out but we were still in time for our train.

Our room had a nice outside patio that was quiet and private. The bar is nice and quiet. The room was exceptionally clean and the hosts were kind and accommodating to us non-French speakers.

We very much enjoyed staying at Hotel Victor Hugo. We went to see Mt. Saint Michel for the day, and coming back to the hotel was such a a relaxing treat. We had challenges with arriving to check in, we got there earlier than 4 PM. I highly recommend contacting the property a day ahead of time to make sure someone can be there if you have to drop off your bags before official check in. Otherwise, you would have to wait to check in at 4:00. The rooms were amazing! Very clean and very comfortable. I would recommend having breakfast at the hotel. Not all breakfast places are open during the week, and it was a bit challenging. However, the people of Pontorson are SO friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here, and take the bus or taxi to Mont Saint Michel. Also, stop by the tourism office, they are very helpful as well.

Very classic property with a lot of old world charm. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only downside was that the bath was a handheld sprayer without a shower

Excellent accueil, hôtel charmant et très confortable, la chambre était très agréable, avec la vue sur le jardin. Nous avons très bien dormi, aucun bruit ne nous a perturbé. Le petit déjeuner était excellent et copieux, dans une salle à manger charmante. Si nous sommes amenés à revenir dans la Manche, à coup sûr nous retiendrons cet hôtel !

Warm hospitality by the staff!

The only staff on duty, nice young man, left at 8pm. There was no-one on duty in the hotel until 9.45am next day. Reception, bar, lounge and ground floor toilet were locked up and not accessible. We weren't told we'd be alone in the building, no health, safety, fire, medical emergency info was given to us in advance. Is it me or is that odd?

This hotel is great. It is a family owned business so you do get that personal touch. We were a family of 13 people and it was a great stay. Most rooms are spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend.

Great hotel in what is a quiet yet quirky town. Really friendly reception, ease of private parking, clean and well decorated hotel, a useful AND fun elevator, and a fantastic breakfast made this a worthwhile stop over on our first night travelling Brittany and Normandy. I have to add that the garden was also typically French - clean, colourful and incredibly beautiful.

It's in easy reach of Mont St Michel as well....and what an incredible site that is!

Minor points: no iron/iron board in room (seems to be typical across France). No staff beyond 20:00hrs (until the morning).

My wife and I stayed here for one evening before getting an early start to visit Mont St. Michel the next morning.

We drove quite some distance and arrived outside of normal check-in hours, but the hotel manager (owner?) was kind enough to come and check up in-we very much appreciated this.

The hotel is nicely decorated, with a lovely back garden. There is parking in the back, and there is a lift for bags, which was helpful since we had a room on the upper floor.

We requested a room off the street, and we were given this with no fuss--again, much appreciated.

The hotel booked us into a restaurant for the evening, which we really enjoyed.

Our room was clean and quiet, which all that we needed. We got a good night's sleep for our early start the next day-exactly what we wanted.
