the room was very comfortable and quite with good views over the grounds. the spa has always been the highlight of our visits and this time did not disappoint, especially with the new sauna.
We had dinner on the first night and were very disappointed. Over the years we have been visiting the hotel, the evening meals have been lovely, now the menu has been simplified and is similar to an average pub. One of our meals was particular poor and didn't come as described. Because of this we cancelled our meal for the following evening. Breakfast was also disappointing, food was lukewarm and dry. We went elsewhere the following morning for our breakfast which was a shame as we have enjoyed the food in the past.
Location was beautiful, room was lovely. Nice hot shower and very comfortable bed. Food was excellent and staff were all lovely and helpful. Highly recommend.
The location is beautiful and relaxing. The staff are friendly and efficient. Our room was spaceous but faced the biomass incinerator and the parking. Consequently, the smoke permeated the room and at times it was really bad. The hotel gave us a discount on our check out. However, I would recommend that Room 37 should not be used at all due to the ongoing smoke issue from the biomass incinerator. Apart from this the hotel is great.
Beautiful peaceful location.
All the staff were amazing, particularly Bussi.
Nothing
Beautiful location
Nothing comes to mind
The spa and staff
None
posizione eccezionale in un parco meraviglioso in prossimità della foce del fiume.
manca aria condizionata nelle camere . Ho soggiornato in un periodo con alte temperature ed il caldo in camera era insopportabile.
Ci sono stati imposti orari per la colazione con la motivazione che l'Hotel era pieno.
Rooms are great size and beds super comfy. Very relaxed atmosphere and spa facilities are really good
Staff were a little scarce on the ground and not always super friendly. No fridges in room which isn’t ideal in the summer - would expect fresh milk for tea and coffee in room for this standard of hotel
Superb location in stunning grounds above a cove of the Helford River. Really excellent staff, neat, well-spoken well-presented, courteous. Excellent breakfast, lovely heated pool.
It was all excellent.
Location, facilities and general vibe of the place.
The lady host for breakfast was too officious, rude in our book.
Lovely location, nice building. Good sized room.
Dated. Our room was very hot, no aircon. Dinner wasn’t good.
The location is beautiful and the gardens were lovely
Amazing grounds & nicely decorated room. Good shower, nice breakfast, and helpful staff.
The room was really hot, no way to turn off heated towel rail and no AC. There was also black mould in the wardrobe.
had dinner and breakfast- both excellent.
bit slippery by the pool.
First visit to this well reviewed hotel and spa. Generally very pleased with room and en-suite overlooking the golf course and surrounding landscape areas. Facilities such as indoor heated pool and sauna was very good together outside the jaccusi. We opted for the half board option which was very good with the dining room affording a pleasant view. Food quality was also good although the range of choices a little limited. Staff were attentive and friendly at all times which was much appreciated. The garden walk to the estuary on our last day was particularly lovely and would recommend guests check it out for themselves as no one had prompted us to venture out beyond the immediate area.
The room key was particularly ‘clunky’ which irritated my wife no end as I swung it along the corridor like a jailers key ! In contrast to the high quality brassware in the bathroom, this seemed particularly archaic in comparison.
As mentioned the restaurant food was very good but the time between courses was particularly long to the point that I suggest guests should bring a book to pass the time.
The 20% surcharge on my drinks bill when checking out was a a bit of a downer.
Previous contributors have mentioned that ownership had changed recently and are in the process of a planned reburbishment. Attention should be directed towards the pool area as it is showing signs of deterioration in the roof structure and tiled areas if they are to replicate the spa/pool experience as that of Borringdon Hall in Plymouth.
