Great location, nice staff. The rooms are clean and comfy. But some of the plumbing is old and the windows aren't fully shut, so it can be noisy. The area is very steep so make sure to wear comfy shoes. It's location is worth it though, and the prices are good!
I really enjoyed staying in this hotel, very spacious ad light room, fast good wifi, super comfy bed. Very clean and quiet with life saving air con in the summer. Location was perfect and the boys working at the reception very helpful. Recommended for a nice pleasant stay in the heart of Istanbul.
Such a disappointment! A nightmare in one word! Very rude staff who cannot communicate in English. They changed my room without notice in the beginning, entered my room during my stay without my permission, packed my stuff, and changed my room again when I wasn't there! This is obviously illegal. They started to threaten me once I complained!!! It’s a shame!
The room was hell! Dirty and stinky. If you want to win the prize for staying in the worst hotel ever, don't hesitate to book a room in this "HOTEL".
The hotel has very good location close to Taksim yet in a tiny street; the staff is super helpful and friendly, rooms are clean and the price/value is reasonable; the hotel can provide PCR test and airport pick up
Spacious , stylish rooms in a very convenient yet quiet location, away from the noise and traffic. Yet with all the sights and the transport within a short walk (along some steep and narrow pavements)
The place is hidden in a maze of hilly Galata streets , better have the address to show the taxi driver, or they may not know how to find it. No lobby to speak of, more like B&B entrance.
Istanbul water shortages meant that we spent a day without water , luckily the hotel provides a drinking water cooler.
Great value, will come again if visiting Istanbul.
I dont know how the other rooms are, but we booked room number 2, which had a very creative design on a first sight, and it was supposed to be a good deal with top notch apartment feeling, but it turned out to be an absolutely ineffective and inhabitable ground floor, connected by round stairs with what used to be a basement once.
First of all i would like to say that on pictures the place looked clean, superb and attracting, but in reality was dirty with leftover hairs on the staircase, dust on the furniture and loud and unbearable noisy air conditioning. Our room was on the ground level so it came with a patio, with broken door lock, and once we stepped outside it was like a construction site 🏗 with all the cement bags laying around, and a lot of moisture and fungus. All of that felt like a swamp area, which was a lair for mosquitoes.🦟The patio was so dirty, and the pillows on the chairs did not know what a laundry means.🧺
Going back inside, the building is so old that we could have heard all the steps and creaking noises from the topper floors, and that was real disturbing.
For the grand finale, we had to go one story down and try to get some sleep 😴 in the bedroom, which was located in the fricking basement without any possible way of getting some atmospheric air flow coming in there. We didn’t get any sleep, and on top of that we had to pay twice the price for a one night stay of non sleep nightmare.
Took a shower 🚿 in the morning, used the towels that were used at least a thousand times before, and checked out of there for a place called Corinne Art & Boutique Hotel, which is so relaxing and comfy and exceeds all of our expectations so far and it is worth every euro.
Know your place of stay before make final check in!

The hotel is very close to istiklal, Karaköy pier, metro and tram stops. The rooms are beautifully designed. The terrace room overlooks the sea. Hot water and elevator were running smoothly. Although the hotel has 3 stars, the quality was good. Also, I appreciate the receptionists for their interest and being friendly.
Very homey and beautiful place, nice location a lot of cool cafes and restaurants close by and easy to access public transportation the staff is very friendly especially Özgür with his professional and helpful nature.
We spent 4 and a half days in Istanbul during All Saints Holidays from end of October 2019 until the beginning of November 2019. We booked the Historic Galata via Booking which said we would have to pay at arrival (leaving as a guarantee our credit card details). We called twice beforehand to make sure to receive the apartment we had booked. Upon arrival at Istanbul airport with our three children at 11pm we received a message that Historic Galata cancelled our booking because of a problem with our credit card. Given the late hour and the last minute cancellation, we called them for clarification and they said they would have alternative accomodation for us. Unfortunately the alternative accommodation was an old, scrabby apartment opposite Historic Galata but nothing like what we had booked. They tried to force us to take this accomodation for 2 nights, given the time 12.00 pm and having 3 children we agreed to pay for one night, but left as soon as we could the next morning. So our advice, do not book Historic Galata, the place itself might be nice (we actually do not know) but you risk to end up in a horrible alternative which might spoil your entire vacation!
İ liked this hotel cause it was in an historical neighborhood, very close to galata tower. You can go to taksim by walking. The staff is very kind too. Highly recommended.
The parallel streets are going down to Karakoy. İt is the new trendy street of istanbul. New bars and night clubs are located in here. The taksim is now deserted cause of turists, we had many night outs in Karakoy.
Enjoy!
If you walk 7 minutes to the North, you reach Şişhane metro station at İstiklal Street, from where you can take the metro to Taksim square. From here, the buses depart to the (new) airport. Staying at walking distance to İstiklal street is already great in itself.
If you walk 7 minutes to the South, you reach Tophane tram station, from where you can take the tram to the Old Town (Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia, etc...)
If you walk 7 minutes to the West, you reach the Galata Tower, a must-visit in Istanbul, either during the day or for a nice meal during the night.
The hotel itself is nice. There is someone at reception 7/24. The streets around the area are very steep, so if you are carrying heavy luggage, it might be tiring if you will use public transport to arrive/depart. The hotel has a lift, though, so it is helpful. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean and were cleaned every day during our 3-night stay. We stayed on the top floor (family room), we had two rooms both with balconies with nice views. If you open both of the windows in each room, there is a very nice breeze passing through the rooms, very refreshing (we did not even turn on the ACs)! The beds are comfy and the neighborhood is silent so you can have a nice rest here. There are a mini-market and pharmacy just around the corner.
I can definitely stay here again during my next visit to Istanbul!
We loved our stay at the Historic Galata. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always suggesting great dinner spots and how to get around.
The room is neat and clean, with enough nice touches to make you feel at home after a busy day of site seeing. We slept well.
The location is perfect for seeing all of the major attractions thanks to the tram line being 350m down the hill, which connects you to Sultanahmet side and only takes around 5 minutes on tram. Arada, a pleasant little restaurant is 50m down hill and Karakoys main street of restaurants is about 500m walk, perfect for easily getting to dinner but far enough so that you don't hear the noise at all. A similar distance up the hill takes you to Istiklal Street for shopping while galata tower is about 300m.
Some reviews mention having to climb a hill, but this is like complaining that the ocean is too wet. Istanbul is a hilly city, so expect this when site seeing. For this hotel, the walk with bags was short from the tram stop and we managed easily.
Very happy with our stay, we would come here again if visiting Istanbul in the future.
I arrived at 10 pm in August at the hotel with my family, only to find that my reservation had not been respected. They did not only given my room to someone else but where no more rooms in the hotel. They proposed a room in a lower category nearby hotel, which I suspect is from the same owner, as the manager were in both receptions.
The new hotel was terrible, by the way...
The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. The location was amazing - just down from the Galata Tower and with fabulous cafes and restaurants nearby, as well as walking distance from all the main sights such as the markets and Mosques. I travelled with friends but would definitely consider coming back with my family.
Excellent hotel with friendly staff. Facilities are good. Hotel is walking distance from Istiklal. Felt like home. Quiet and comfortable. We love the stay at this hotel and I recommend it for business and leisure
It was recently renovated when we arrived, the walls are historically briquette and the room well designed, it was extremely romantic :)
Galata towers is just for 5 minutes, istiklal street 10, taksim 20 minutes in walking distance.
