This hotel needs a conplete clear out and decoration ......the double room was a good size even with a double and single bed , but ..there was far to much clutter ..ie ..5 lamps ..?? Baskets of potpourri, stuffed ornaments everywhere .....2 trays 1 with tea & coffee another with a jug of water ,( don't know when it was placed in the room ) also a small bottle with red liquid , ?? Think it was undiluted juice but nothing to tell us what it was , ...lots of unnecessary clutter , no where to put our bits and bobs....every space had somthing on it , 2 electric adaptors overloaded with plugs for all the lamps , wall paper was damaged by flood or damp, there was star stickers on was to avert your eye away from damage , the double bed was the most uncomfortable bed I had ever sleepy in ....the mattress was very lumpy and had a lot of roll together .....and the bed frame squeaked and creeked when you moved , the bed needs immediate attention ...,( double bed ) we didn't use the single bed ....I feel there was a lot of unnecessary items in the room , but I noticed it was the same all over the hotel , ie reception area
We didn't have breakfast as people had told us it was horrible ?? The staff we spoke to were friendly , but we didn't really have a lot of dealings with them ...the bar staff at wedding reception were very nice and friendly and we never had to wait long to be served ....I was very disapointed in the accommodation even at £62 ....it should have been better
Well I was Made Homeless for the night.....
As there was a baby shower happening at Home
and no way I was gonna be at home for that with far to many women
(not that I had the choice to stay anyway) :)
Had a great wee night at the Royal Hotel the staff where very friendly and welcoming the room was fine very big I had a family room to myself. I had dinner in the hotel food was very reasonable I had the Special Homemade steak pie and yeah it was grand. breakfast was good and plentiful to sent me home happy
Ravenscraig Park and Dysart Harbour are both within easy walking distance to the hotel and are worth a visit
Friendly staff. Excellent value with an excellent breakfast. Good place.
It was not so good, Torn sofa and old furniture ...... Good points are ; Breakfast was good and secured parking....
Excellent value for money. Very friendly staff. Comfortable and homely room. Lovely breakfast. This isn’t 5 star accommodation - it’s a little dated but it’s clean and I couldn’t fault it for the money
Pleasant hotel, nice staff, the food in the restaurant was excellent, check on and out was quick and easy
Decor a bit outdated but they made up for that in friendliness. Nice comfortable lounge area good food and lovely breakfast.
Great place ,just what we needed for a 2 night stay in Scotland.
Went to the Open Golf.
The lady on reception was very helpful. The interior within the hotel needs a lot of modernising. It was clean though in the rooms. Toilet/showers are not in the room, they are along the corridor.
Pleasant welcome from the manager, and the reception area was fresh and clean but once we opened the door to the guest rooms we were hit by a very unpleasant smell which persisted for the whole weekend. The worst feature of this hotel was the bathroom, a disgusting dirty carpet on the floor and black mould at the back of the sink. The bedroom was fine but the tea mugs were dirty. The best thing about the hotel were the young waiters in the restaurant. We will not be returning.
Made very welcomed, the service was very good a great place to stay.
Lovely tasty food. Staff very friendly
HOTEL is inexpensive and for what I paid it was fine
don't expect the Ritz its clean and functional the shower and bathroom could do with upgrading but it worked
WIFI and phone reception were poor in my room
This is a very old building so don't expect modern furnishing etc. The rooms are very clean and the bed was very comfortable The staff are welcoming, friendly and cannot do enough for you. There is a good size car park.
Lovely hotel like in old movies ;)
Room had bad smell. Very poor Wi-Fi connection. Could be warmer room.
Very nice pleasant & helpful staff enjoyed our stay very much food was great too
Nice friendly hotel good food and very clean however no signal for any mobiles abs no access to the Internet
Large rooms with comfortable bed. Hotel is an old building but staff have gone out of their way to make it more homely. Breakfast were very filling and plenty to choose from on the menu through the day. public transport right outside front door - but if you can walk a few miles there's plenty to see. Only negative was that the hotel was in a poor mobile reception area, but that's hardly management's fault. Wifi was available though in most areas. Enjoyable stay.
Comfortable, friendly hotel.
