Pros:

The Holiday Inn Express in Luoyang is a great deal. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming. My room was large and cozy and the bathroom was my favorite part (huge gym-style shower). The breakfast at this hotel is outrageously terrific! Every morning there was a delicious spread of Chinese and Western dishes to enjoy. I was traveling alone during this visit to see the Longmen Grottoes and I felt very safe and happy here. I highly recommend this spot!

A Mixed Bag
Pros:

We were happy with the room. The Hotel.com website had the wrong map for the hotel location, causing us to pay for another taxi ride. That said the room was great, breakfast excellent. Not much for the location. About ¥80 to get to the Grottoes and a similar figure to get back if you are lucky. (We paid ¥150, no choice. The next day we paid ¥60 to go further to catch the train. Taxi drivers don’t use meters here. Negotiate before starting your journey)
Staff excellent, very helpful. Happy to recommend the hotel, but it’s is about 30 kms out from Luoyang.

Great hotel, North American standard
Pros:

Hotel and staff was fantastic, bed was great. We ended up coming back to stay an extra night. Only thing was not much around as it's in a newly developed area.
