After a long nine-hour drive, we arrived at the Hampton Inn in Brighton, Michigan around 9:00 p.m. Upon check-in, we were charged a $75 pet fee for our dog, which had not been communicated prior to arrival. The fee applies for stays between one and four days, and we were only staying for two, which already felt frustrating after a long trip.
We were assigned a room and went up, clearly exhausted. When we opened the door, it was immediately obvious that the room had not been cleaned at all. It was in complete disarray and looked as if it might still have been occupied. We went back to the front desk. The reaction we received was a casual “Oh, that’s inconvenient,” with no apology. We were then assigned a different room.
Unfortunately, the second room was also far from clean. There was a visible bloodstain, likely from a cut finger, on the door handle and again on the sliding bathroom door handle. The bathroom grout appeared never to have been properly cleaned. Dirt and dust had collected in the corners of the tiled bathroom, along with small pieces of toilet paper, and there was even a piece of electrical cord lying on the floor. Walking around the bathroom barefoot did not feel comfortable at all. The bathroom clearly needs a deep steam and pressure clean, and given the amount of carpet in the room, this did not inspire confidence in the overall cleanliness of the space.
The next morning, we went down for breakfast shortly before 10:00 a.m. We asked until what time breakfast was available and were told “until 10.” When we looked at the time and realized it was only just before 10, we turned around to find the entire buffet already gone. There was no apology and not even an offer to grab something simple like a muffin or an apple. We understand that arriving shortly before the end of breakfast does not entitle guests to a full buffet, but a small gesture would have gone a long way. Instead, we left and had breakfast elsewhere.
Overall, the stay was not terrible in every aspect, but the level of cleanliness was unacceptable, and the front desk staff could benefit from a stronger focus on friendliness and basic customer service. Unfortunately, we will be looking at other hotel options in the area when we return.
Issues with bathroom sink not staying on. Pillows not comfortable. Front desk was nice. Close to many restaurants.

Pool and jacuzzi, breakfast excellent
Unknown how the property is. Did not make this reservation. When I tried to cancel was informed there was nothing they could do sense the reservation was made through Expedia. When contacted Expedia was informed they could not cancel the reservation had to contact the hotel directly. So basically go the run around. Then the timeframe was past to cancel before deadline.

Loved everything about this hotel- our new favorite! Will definitely be back this year! The pillows are perfect without the extra fluffiness and bed was very comfy, slept very well! Love the black out curtains- you find them BEHIND the sheer curtains 🙂

We had the king Jacuzzi room and would recommend for anyone wanting a little extra relaxation on their trip.
Service and curiosity trrrible
We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting friends. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They had a nice free breakfast. The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable.

Our King room smelled of cigarettes and dog. Refrigerator had no shelves, but it did work. Only had 3 towel, but it was clean and sported full bottles of accessories and a newer ha I r dryer. During sleeping hour's the hallway on the 3rd floor wreaked of weed. And the bed was not a typical Hampton bed.
