Very happy with our stay

The food was good and plenty of tea and coffee available at breakfast. The evening meal was also very good, would recommend.

Hotel is ok, rooms are tired but clean. Restaurant is really very poor, food is not good and tables feel like they are in reception

Overall not too bad, but why do the chambermaids have to chat in the corridor near guest rooms for ages starting at 8:30am on a Sunday morning after I was up late Saturday night and wanted a lie in?
Seriously, they were doing it for what seemed like 90 of the 120 minutes between 08:30 and 11:00 (check out time). Eventually I had to stick my head out of the room to be sure it wasn't just ignorant other guests. The public lobby area, behind a fire door, where they could have chatted without disturbing anyone, was only a few steps away, but I suppose they would be seen not working by reception from there.
I usually leave a tip for housekeeping staff, but didn't this time. Their loss. Grim.

Had dinner in the restaurant, must say the food was first class.

Booked two double rooms. Night staff only gave me one, and I had to stand firm and show my booking online to get the 2nd room.
2nd room then ended up being a twin.
We complained in the morning, and were told that we had to email the owner, and they would then decide what to do with the complaint (bonkers! Can you imagine going into any other retail situation and being told that?!)
Day staff did confirm that, quite clearly, there were two double rooms on the booking.

Rooms fine, steak dinner and breakfast great. Good value for money.

Everything was superb, but may I make one suggestion. A iron and iron iron board in room. I know there is a service, but I only had to run an iron over a T-shirt.

we stayed 2 nights for a wedding at a nearby property the staff were very polite and helpful we had a lovely big room to get ready in

Arrived late which was no problem. Clean room with excellent shower. Staff very friendly
