Roomy, good breakfast, goos parking and friendly staff
Dated decor particularly the bathrooms do not justify price.
But nothing special
Our room was on the first floor whilst the relatives were located on the ground floor. Definitely not as requested near each other. Our double room had only I towel in the Bathroom , and no slippers,or buscuits, had to go back to reception to get someone to get the missing items. The room hadn’t been cleaned very well, crumbs were left on the desk by the TV. The room was located above the kitchen, the extractor fan was situated just below our open window, this was turned on about 6am ( breakfast prep) not compatible with a lying in! Also the area outside was the bin store, and bottles emptied in bins was disturbing, it was also a place for staff to rest and have a cigarette. Hotel was not up to standard, my wife wanted to leave and forget about the money, our relatives were agreeable. But after phoning other hotels in the area, there was nothing available.
Our conclusion is that Booking.com is not someone we will ever bother with again.

Amazing breakfast, friendly staff, central location

Our room was large and well appointed. Ground floor with window/door opening ro a small patio with table and chairs. The bathroom was large too and obviously recently refurbished. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Dressing gowns very soft.
Breakfast buffet (continental) included in price. Nice selection, good coffee and friendly service.
Just a note, bath wash was on wall but too high if just using the bath.
No fan or A/C so room was warm. It would be very hot in hot weather.
Some areas of Hotel looked tired. Restaurant chairs in particular. Fully refurbished ths Hotel could get 4* rating
Friendly staff, free parking
Bed nowhere near as comfortable as usual, struggled to find something to eat for dinner as no vegan, dairy free or gluten free options on evening menu.
Convenient for an overnight stay on way to Cornwall
A bit isolated and tired looking.
Room
Breakfast, as asked for a vegetarian Sausage and got a pork sausage instead of vegetarian, that was unacceptable
Very warm and welcoming staff. They were all very friendly and very happy to help. The entire hotel was super clean and tidy. The bedrooms as far as what is required for a hotel was ideal and very big room with a very very clean bathroom. Given that the hotel is somewhat dated you can really tell the hotel is looked after and attention given in all the right places. We went out for dinner in Cullumpton and to some of the pubs so cannot comment on food, but, breakfast was plentiful and good choice! We heard the hotel may well be closing… and if that is the case, it would be a massive shame. They made the day before the wedding comfortable and easy going, and all guests who stayed said how friendly everyone was. The Padbrook should get investment not be forced to close it’s really ideal and family friendly, there is not anywhere else in Cullumpton to stay!
Lack of air con, but, we did stay in the hottest week recorded so far so that cannot be taken in to account. The rear garden could be so much better, we were present for a wedding, which I imagine is the main custom base at the hotel given location, so outdoor space is always good but there was only one parasol and they did not have any others and there was a sad looking swing chair at the end of the garden. It was so nice having somewhere to sit out there with family and friends and staff were lovely, but, some garden TLC perhaps. I also think the price should include breakfast, personally.
would love to go back but heard its possibly being turned into a carehome
Lovely & very helpful staff.

Room was comfortable
Asked for food before 9pm and told the chef had gone home, unable to order room service
Perfect stop over.
Friendly, comfortable, easy.
Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and all delicious.
A fan or air con in room as it was a hot night.
It very noisy with the outside people if you want a quiet night. Kettle had water in it before I filled it up, I didn’t think that was good.
