We had bugs crawling all over our room and we were unable to be relocated according to hotel staff it was disgusting
Incredible place - will definitely return.
The service at the Mayflower was like one other. 10 outta 10, will return!
This is a very beautiful property in a remote part of Connecticut. For that reason, it is especially important that the food be excellent and varied but it is not. The coffee is sometimes mediocre but often has a charred flavor. Room service is frequently served lukewarm to cold. When you are in the middle of nowhere with the nearest coffee shop 10 minutes away the coffee should be excellent. Breakfast should be wonderful and sadly the options are extremely limited and not broadly appealing.
The setting and the landscaping are beautiful and it is ideal for a peaceful weekend although often there are events downstairs and if you are in a room in the Main Inn you are up until that event is over and cleaned up around midnight. Some rooms more so than others but requests are not guaranteed despite being told otherwise.
The spa is incredible, beautiful and the providers are some of the best in the spa industry. It is difficult to get appointments on the weekends though.
If the menus could be revamped and noise issues addressed I’d add 2 stars back.
The Mayflower was an amazing 4 star or 4 1/2 star property. It was terribly overpriced as a five star and for what was provided. The "gourmet" restaurant is truly an emperor with no clothing.
Beautiful and inviting property, rooms and staff.
Loved every minute of our stay here. The food was excellent and the staff and service was amazing
We had a great visit , food is excellent , there were bits of the room that were a little tired . We highlighted these to the hotel .
The wine was extortionately priced .
This was an amazing experience. The only improvement I would suggest would be to upgrade the indoor pool.
This was a nice place to stay but not luxury to the point where I understand the price point. The spa is very nice and you can tell it was invested in. We stayed in the main house and it could definitely use an update- it was fine. It wasn’t terrible but it was not worth what we paid for it. We booked a room with a fireplace which didn’t work- we were given a credit of $200 for the inconvenience which was fine but really just left us with a 3 star room to be in. The staff are very very nice and go out of their way to make everything pleasant but overall this is not a luxury resort- disappointed. Not likely to come back except for the spa.
This property is clearly over rated and over priced.
By no means it is not worth a visit, but for the very expensive high daily rates, and not including any amenities , with a restaurant with limited menu, and again expensive, makes this hotel extremely overrated.
Staff was extremely friendly.
Spa is very nice, but again prices were consistent with the high pricing of this property.
There are not many amenities to enjoy for such price.
I was told movie celebrities come to this hotel for vacation on regular basis. I honestly can only think of seeking tranquility and paying top dollars for this opportunity , and not for enjoying a fancy high end place.
Beautiful property and grounds. Pricey but worth it for a once in a lifetime experience with my daughter doing the "Gilmore Girl" thing.
Great service from check-in to check-out. Room was very spacious and clean. Plenty of things to do, even with Covid restrictions. The Spa was amazing and we were able to book the pool for an hour with no issues. The only small negative was the four-poster bed being quite squeaky. We assumed the furniture was antique, yet restored, so we mentally accepted it, but it may bother other guests more.
The team did their best while learning how to manage during COVID. Many small things that went wrong which was not the usual experience but it didn’t impact the stay significantly overall.
Excellent guest services team. Property and amenities are still fantastic; even with strict Covid protection measures in place.
The Spa Facility and Services are among the best in the Northeast USA. Bedrooms are very comfortable and clean, housekeeping does an excellent job. All team members are extremely friendly and accommodating.
Superb in all respects! Gracious hospitality! Outstanding staff in each department! Accommodating for all special needs. Fine food and service! Surely, we plan to return often! True quality! We reserved for one night, and extended each day for a stay of 5 days! Highest recommendation with commendations for The Mayflower Inn and Spa!
Amazing. Impeccable. Visitors must visit the spa.
Staff didn’t put our our bags in the car when we left. Had a flt at local airport and didn’t realize bags were missing until we drove all the way there. No one called us to let us know bags were just left by the main entrance as we pulled away. Had to drive all the way back 1 1/2 hours missed the flt. Total disaster. Never received a call from management after I called them asking where the bags were. Nothing. Cost us so much money for the missed flt. Terrible situation but the worst of it is why didn’t management call us. Unbelievable!!
We had a short but very sweet stay. It was very expensive but was excellent.
