Great location
Pros:

We stayed at River Hotel for a couple of nights. We chose room only as we don't normally have breakfast although we did on our last day and the full englus hcwas superb. We were accommodated in the Annexe and the room was good. Well decorated and spotless. Great shower. The hotel has a garden backing on to the Thames and it was pleasant to sit out in the evening while enjoying a cold beer from the honesty bar. All in all, a great place to stay and would definitely recommend the hotel.

Cons:

There was nothing to dislike.

A very pleasant stay close to Oxford city centre and river walks.
Pros:

River Hotel was in an excellent location for exploring Oxford city centre. The staff were welcoming and very polite and took pride in all they did for their guests. The breakfast was buffet and table service.
This is a traditional hotel with first class service you simply don’t experience in larger chain hotels.
We stayed during the heatwave and 2 fans were provided without us asking. Thank you.

Basic room near the station
Pros:

It was a convenient location with free parking. The communal honesty bar was well stocked. It was relatively cheap.

Cons:

There were basically no staff. The outside doors were locked at about 7pm. There was nobody on reception, all evening, breakfast wasn't available until 7:45 which is hopeless if you are working. It wasn't particularly clean and the facilities were really rather shabby and poorly maintained. It's lucky I wasn't with my wife as she would have refused to stay here

Sehr freundliches Personal. Gutes Frühstück. Top Lage.

Cons:

Kein klimatisiertes Zimmer nur kleiner Tischventilator. Das Fenster konnte nur einen Spalt geöffnet werden.

Pros:

The building was beautiful and right on the banks of the Thames. The breakfast room was lovely - quaint and calm. There was also a delightful little garden and a very well stocked honesty bar. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and informative.

Cons:

The room was very dated. The decor was tired and in need of an upgrade. It was all a bit shabby. However, it was graded as a 2 star hotel so I think it was appropriate, and overall, it had a charm about it and was ony the best location.
