It was my second visit of Hotel Azayla in Asilah in last year. This time i didnt booked even, just arrived, as i was sure there is no season yet, and they will have a free room for two. And i was right. Hotel was almost empty, which is very positive thing, as the walls are very thin, and there is no soundproof, and sometimes its difficult te get a sleep in all the noise of all guests. Simple hotel for night or two to discover old Asilah. Very recommended. Very helpful management.
We hired a room with sea view and when we arrived they wanted to give us a smaller room without balcony. Then then gave it to us as a "favor" despite that it was a 5 stories hike - the lack of elevator is not really advertised. We were still happy even after some lights were not working properly as the room was very clean. The problem came at checkout. First, not check out bill. Then, suddenly they do not take Amex, and became very aggressive and try to coerce me into drawing money out of a bank. According to them, the problem was with my card. The problem is I had made the reservation with Amex through Booking. First, I requested they call Amex and charge me manually, but of course they do not have any agreement with Amex, which they never acknowledged. Then I requested they call Booking, so I could pay Booking and Booking pay them. They continued bullying me into drawing money out of the cashier. I found the Booking number and Booking told me that it was their duty to accept my card. The situation was really unpleasant until Booking mediated. Really terrible and a waste of our time. Its like finishing a good meal with a rotten dessert-
Super clean, very good location, close to grand taxi, Medina, restaurants
Could be a bit noisy when hotel is full, as the rooms are not soundproof at all.
Popular also by Moroccan families. During my stay it was fine. No lift! No shampoo, just liquid soap for hands.
We had a room for a family of four for two nights. It is extremely basic but also the rate is very cheap. You get what you pay for. Cleanliness (bed linens, towels, etc.) is questionable. No shampoo was provided. Bathroom sink needs plumbing and door to bathroom is smoked glass (like a shower door) so not much in the way of privacy. Location is very good and Wi-Fi signal was just fine.
My wife and I stayed here for a few days during our trip in Morocco. There was good and bad. The location is great and Asilah is really easy to navigate. The location gave a great jumping off point for getting around.
On the bad side: At night, there was a remarkable amount of yelling and banging. We were kind of uncomfortable at one point and considered changing hotels. Our sheets were dirty and we had to ask for new sheets when we came in. We also had no towels and had to ask for those as well.
The hotel is located within walking distance to the seafront and the restaurants. It doesn't have the "bells and whistles" provided by other higher end hotels, however, it was clean, comfortable and the rate was reasonable. Exceptional service provided by the staff as well. We had a problem with the air conditioning unit and it was resolved in a very short time.
Taxi fare from train station to this hotel is 20DH (around 3km). A relaxing small town and next to the sea, not much to visit. Worth to stay at this hotel with private bathroom (around Eur30 including tax)
My room was small and the WiFi terrible but still a great place.
Pros: we stayed in the double room with terrace, and the terrace was large and the view of the sea was lovely. The room was also very big, with a two couch seating area, which could probably sleep a couple of more people. The person who checked us in was very nice and helpful, and the man who was there in the afternoons (can't remember his name), helped us get a private grand taxi direct from Asilah to Chefchaouen for 600 MAD. It's also in a decent location, not far from the medina or promenade, though a bit of a walk to the nicer beaches north of the town. CONS: This is a big one, the bathroom had a horrible septic smell the whole time we were there, and the toilet was dripping from the back making the floor wet. When we told the front desk, their solution was to give us an extra towel to lay down on the floor to soak up the water. We dealt with it mostly because we were exhausted and didn't want to have to pack everything up again to move rooms. The room also had some light switches that didn't work and the bed was a bit sagging, though comfortable enough.
Azayla hotel is a nice and clean place to stay at. The front office gentlemen did everything to help us park our car in front of the hotel. It is a bit hard to find a spot to park your car. My brother and I liked the quiet and smallness of Asilah. The colors and arts on the walls are pretty amazing. We also had great fresh fish at nice restaurants only a few minutes away from the hotel. You can pretty much walk anywhere from the hotel. Great location. The beach was ok. We were not too crazy about it. There is a lot of work to be done to address the cleanliness of the beach.
I booked on Orbitz and received confirmation number and money paid. I arrived with the family tired to find out that they are overbooked and don't have room for us. Then, I only received half of my money due to their cancellation policy. I am still trying to figure out what cancellations? I was there and dumped me with my family then took half of my money.
So I figured that the hotel will get a walk in at higher rate and don't take cheaper reservation from the internet.
Yeah worst people behavior ever as I travel the world and this never happened to me before.
Please be careful with these jerks.
I have booked this hotel because all other nice place in Assila were full. To my surprise my booking turned out to be invalid by the Azayla staff because they said they don't deal with Expedia anymore.
I have received the confirmation and Itinerary #7289789248813 and text message BUT when I showed all these to the hotel staff...he said that they don't do business with Expedia anymore and they couldn't cancel their contract with them!
I have been offered the last room available in the hotel with only 2 beds Room 107 (uncomfortable small bed-insh was added!) instead of 4 beds and charged 800 MAD for 3 star hotel! I have not been given any receipt or anything to show that I have stayed in this hotel the night of the 22/08/2017.
The state and room (lining, towels...etc) is bad and the bathroom is awful! any most of 3 star hotel in Morocco must be downgraded to 2 star! and the Moroccan are very good when it come to taking photos with some additional Photoshop magic! what you see is NOT what you really get!
I had to drive 3 hours to get to this hotel in 30 degree heat! and to be given an expensive awful room and I hope that someone from Expedia is reading this because I'll seek compensation!
Arrived without any reservation. After a local showed us several local houses which we didn't like any, we decided to walk in this hotel and to see the room and price.
First of all, the reception of day time shift is very nice and always smiley. When we asked for look the rooms first, he gave us the key and total trust us to go upstairs by ourselves, but in the end he still went up to see if we need any help though.
Second, the price he offered was much cheaper than any booking website. He offered a price first(Dh350/room, we are 2, but the room is for 3, one queen and one single bed), and gave us discount down to Dh300 without we even asking. Maybe it's because not summer time yet.
The room is just average and simple, but very clean. Wifi router on each floor. No restaurant which mean doesn't include breakfast, but you can eat at cafe at the street corner. The only disadvantage is their soundproof is quite poor, but during the two nights we stayed, other rooms were quiet, only walking sound though.
Hotel is a short way from the seafront. The staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean. We were in the room on the top floor which had a balcony. The only problem with the room was that it was very cold at night. The internet was very quick.
This hotel was absolutely beautiful! Had a large balcony with a sea view, the room was outstanding and had modern facilities. Large bathroom and shower with marble floors.Very reasonable price, only downside was no elevator and we were on the 4th floor.
Spent 3 nights here with my wife. Room number 9. $52 per night. Four floors up. No elevator and no help with the bags. Be prepared. Manager (Jalal) is friendly if not helpful. Hotel is VERY noisy. During the day they hammered away at a tile floor downstairs. The vibrations and sounds were simply amazing. Sound proofing is non-existent. A word to the manager produced a statement that the noisy work was just for that day. It was not. They were at it the entire time we were here. At night the neighborhood dogs bark incessantly. While the beds are comfortable this is not a place where you'll be getting much sleep.
Clean basic room with view of Medina and park. Secure. Jury-rigged repairs like a shower rod hanging by a string. Good hot water. Weak WIFI as router is downstairs. No breakfast. Good cafes and restaurants 2-minutes down the street. Medina is a 5-minute walk away. At $52 a night you'd expect a bit more than what this hotel offers. We love Asilah and plan to return but this hotel is off our list for good. We would have been much better served by staying in the Medina.
despite of the modesty of this hotel and it's simplicity i can qualify this hotel to one of the best if it is not the best sea view and forest and garden view in each window or verranda of the hotel located in the heart of asilah that is really a luxury that we can't afford every day i stayed here for 3 nights i will stay and recommend it for everybody who want's to have a nice stay in asilah.
Rent a room with airconditioning, but once inside the room we found out that it was broken. We told the guy at the reception and he just laughed at us and didn't do a thing.. Furthermore, there was a lot of noise outside the entire night and at 7 AM in the morning, the technician was already working somewhere in the building. So we didn't sleep well.
We are never coming back to this hotel again!
My husband and I spent 2 nights at this hotel. We were given a large room for 4 overlooking the town park. The owner spoke multiple languages and was very helpful. The hotel is in a central location, so we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see and there were plenty of restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay here again. The muezzin call for prayer at 4:15 every morning momentarily woke us, but we quickly fell back to sleep. (Throughout Morocco, Muslims are called to prayer at sunrise, although 4:15 doesn't seem like sunrise to me! LOL)
If you transit through this city it is very nice stay for 1 night fir budjet and middle range stay. We paid 250 dh and got spacious clean room, centre location, parking for car, good view.
