Lovely hostel, feels like home
Pros:

I love this hostel! It really feels like home. The staff are lovely, the beds are comfortable, dorms spacious, mosquito nets provided, laundry service was good, the food in the restaurant is affordable and really good, they have great tours, a space to do yoga (and sometimes a yoga teacher/ classes organised). Everything is clean and the showers are spacious with hot water. If you book a shuttle with them they take you to the pick up point in the morning and wait with you which is so nice. I was sick and missed my shuttle and staff helped me reorganise it, helped me with my bags and were really kind asking me how I was feeling. I felt really welcome and safe here.

Pros:

The place is very clean, it was also a nice place to stay. It was an original concept!

Cons:

The bed wasn’t very confortable. And also the bathroom is outside of the bedroom so not a lot of intimacy. And the bathroom was dry so it’s different of what we are used to. :)

Très agréable
Pros:

Le lieu est super, très vert, le restaurant végétarien est très bon.
Les salles de bains sont grandes et la douche est très agréables.

Cons:

Il faudrait juste rajouter des rideaux au lits des dortoirs surtout qu’il y a pas mal d’activité proposés qui nécessitent de se lever tôt dans la nuit. Même problème du au fait que les portes grincent assez fort.

L'emplacement un peu reculé de la ville est sympa sans trop être éloigné. L'endroit est dans un grand jardin agréable.
Toilettes sèches propres.

Cons:

Des rongeurs font du bruit H24 dans la toiture du dortoir. Pas agréable ! Les horaires du restaurant sont limités.
Eau chaude fonctionnant 1 coup sur 3 mais douches froides agréables. Lumière du dortoir en pleine tête lorsqu'on dort au lit supérieur.

Staying at MayAchik was a treat!
Pros:

I loved the nature, the people, the eco concept, the food they offered at the restaurant, and the abundance of awesome activities they organized. The staff was always eager to help! The room was very clean and the town was also by far the best on the lake.

(Too)large cabin in green garden, with little place to sit outside
Pros:

Good location: walking distance to the center and quiet. Nice green garden. Friendly staff. Shared kitchen and private kitchen. Large house. Nice that they have an eco mindset.

Cons:

The house was way too large for 2 people, which felt a bit strange. Garden is beautiful, but has very little places to sit and relax. At the house itself was no outside sitting area. There is a vegetarian restaurant on the site, but we found the food disappointing. Plastic cover on the bed was uncomfortable.

Cosy and peaceful stay
Pros:

Mayachik was a great spot to spend some time in the lake. Even though it's not lakefront like other villages in the lake, it has the advantage of having a really wide green area, from where you can see the mountains around it, it's very beautiful and stay in a calm and peaceful place. I was working remotely, and there are lots of outdoor work stations with outlets and a very strong and stable wifi. The sustainable approach, with dry toilets and solar energy, was also very nice. Their restaurant have great food, with a very reasonable price and a good amount of food, it's nice to have some deals there. There's also a very spacious kitchen if you wanna make your own food. Beds were very comfortable and showers had hot water with good pressure.
Also, staff was very kind and helpful all the time, with many locals working there as well.

A good place to stay. If you're in a private room, ask for the staff to clean the toilets every day.
Pros:

Overall, the room was fine. Spacious and clean.

Cons:

The composting toilet was smelly. We had to ask 2x for the staff to come and clean it. After that, it was OK but really, the toilets need to be cleaned every day or every other day. Also, the community kitchen could use an upgrade all around.

Pros:

Die Häuser, der Garten, die Atmosphäre, die Menschen - alles in MayAchik ist freundlich und wunderschön gestaltet, eine Oase im wunderschönen San Juan la Laguna! Mit dem Tuktuk kamen wir entspannt aus der Stadt hierher, die Stadt ist aber auch fußläufig entspannt erreichbar. Wir haben unsere Zeit hier sehr genossen und weil es so schön war noch verlängert.

Disappointing. Overpriced
Pros:

Staff was nice. Hot water (when there’s electricity) is good.

Cons:

We were very excited about this place but turned out to be very disappointing. Very precarious facilities, like a camping ground. Loooong uneven stairs to access the rooms. Bad internet, no backup for power outages even when they lasted 15 hours, two in our 5 nights stay. Pictures look much better than reality. There’s construction work in the property making it noisy. Facilities are often reserved for groups and closed for other guests. We had dinner at the restaurant one night, waited 1 hour 15 minutes for our food. One of the dishes was cold.

Pros:

La chambre était très confortable, avec une superbe vue sur les montagnes. L'hôtel est particulièrement agréable, au milieu de la végétation et le restaurant qui sert petit déjeuner, déjeuner et dîner permet d'en profiter un maximum.
L'hôtel est légèrement excentré mais il y a beaucoup de tuk tuk ce n'est donc pas un problème.
