TownePlace Suites by Marriott Columbia

We liked the outdoor pool and the common area. We traveled with a soccer team so it was nice to cool off after the tournament in an outdoor pool. The indoor gathering space made it easy to eat together and enjoy each other's company. The breakfast was great too.

We are a long-standing Marriott rewards family; this is the worst Marriott brand location I've experienced. We are used to the higher end of Ritz or JW, but I have stayed in the lower-end brands like Residence Inn and Courtyard - which have been perfectly acceptable for the cost in points or cash. This was not worth the points charged nor the amount they are asking in cash. The photos are deceiving. The outdoor area with fire pit is actually the front of the parking lot and in bad shape. They do not show you how small the rooms actually are or how low-end the bathrooms are. On the Bonvoy app, I could only see a close up of the beds and the kitchen area, plus the ceiling of the bathroom. The room was a studio, but with a kitchen and a name like Townplace Suites, I expected it more the size of a Residence Inn. It's the size of a normal hotel room with a kitchen crammed into the entry area. The buffet was terrible compared to the Residence Inn we stayed in while in Kiawah Island, SC. Very limited items and the oatmeal wasn't fully cooked - it didn't look edible. I tried the coffee, twice one morning, and I had to throw it out each time which has never happened to me. The beds are very hard, not typical for a Marriott brand, they did not take special care to refill items (totally out of conditioner in the shower). I left without the breakfast that was included, with my entire body in pain from the terrible mattress, a red sore eye and scratchy throat from whatever allergen was in the room, and barely any sleep. The staff was very kind but the manager appreciated the feedback, but did not want to do anything reasonable with the information we provided.

We stay at this hotel regularly to and from NC to Colorado to visit our grown kids. We have dogs who travel with us at least 3 times per year and we love staying at the Towneplace Suites in Columbia. The team is very accommodating, friendly, helpful and kind - thus we have no need to check other places. We highly recommend this hotel with or without dogs.. the bonus is the amazing restaurant just steps away from the hotel- excellent food, both onsite and "to go". Happy travels!

Clean friendly staff

Right off the highway very quiet and clean. Room was like a small apartment with kitchenette. Everything was clean and in working order. Bed was fine and bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast had usual plus breakfast sandwiches. A small area with adequate seating. Despite being full place was VERY quiet. Parking lot well lit and walking distance to some restaurant on other side of parking lot. Towne Place usually the less fancy of the Marriotts but this one was worth the stay.

There are no convenience or pharmacy stores nearby. Not even a grocery store

Excellent hotel !! We had been travelling for over 10 hours and checked into another Marriott badge hotel at 11:30 p.m. at night that was simply a literal "pig stye" on the "northside" of Columbia and we checked out in less than 30 minutes. It was after midnight, we were tired, exhausted and needed to find a last minute place to rest. We found Townplace Suites a short drive away, booked online and drove. We were greeted by an employee named Tim, and was he ever so gracious, kind and friendly when we needed to just have a seamless check-in and a clean suite. Thank you, Tim !!! You made our overnight stay pleasant, memorable and we were grateful for your help. The suite was exceptionally clean, comfortable, the AC worked perfect and the bathroom (which I am always a "white glover" about), was spotless and clean. Our beds were extremely comfortable. We rested overnight, got up the next morning and enjoyed a hot breakfast and conversed with friendly employees who were dressed professionally and strived to make sure we needed anything to make our morning breakfast more enjoyable. This is how a Marriott badged property should be run and managed. Again, thank you Tim for your kindness and help at check-in. You were truly a Marriott professional.

Very nice and very clean

We were pretty bummed to find the bathroom looked like it hadn’t even been cleaned and our door would not lock properly and our door from the outside looked like it had been messed with before so all n all we felt very uncomfortable when we were hoping for an easy stay after a long day of traveling.
