Location was excellent, reception staff and managers were excellent, pleasant, considerate and gave us a very pleasant and patient hearing of an incident detailed below
A lady manager at the breakfast facility at 6.15 AM, 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE BUFFET WAS TO OPEN, WHOSE NAME I did not ask, but I remember that she was overweight, but that is not my problem, she was busy counting cash from the machine and before asking me as to why me and my wife were present 15 minutes early, asked us to stand app 5 feet away and was very rude to us and treated us like beggars, gave us 3 slices of bread each and on being requested dumped butter and jam on to us without a wooden knife to spread the butter or jam, all in a brown paper packet and on forther request gave us one pears and one plum as part of a carry away breakfast which we had not properly booked in time and was extremely rude, which in our last 3 weeks of holiday in New Zealand and Australia was unprecedented in any corner of this continent even on the street, or street vendors let alone a five star hotel manager starting her work with the very first guest at 6.15 AM, all she had to do was pleasantly show her inability to help, in the face of a very early pick up for a sight seeing trip from your adjacent PARK ROYAL HOTEL, who provided us with wooden knives and forks to compensate the lack of them at SOFITEL, inspite of us not being their guests, just a pleasant human being to human being interaction at 6.30 in the morning and one mire information, my son was an assistant manager at WESTIN AND RITZ CARLTON HOTELS IN PUNE(INDIA) for a period of app 10 years, so I know, what is expected of any staff/nanager/officer of a five star hotel in handling unexpected requests.
Location, staff friendly
No tv and wasn’t the room I wanted
There wasn’t much I didn’t like about the place it was clean, the rooms were great we had great view and the staff was were very helpful and friendly.
There only one think I didn’t like was the parking you pay good money to stay at beautiful place and to you have pay for parking
Location
No movie channels. Had to download Netflix app to connect to t.v. Really annoying
Location
Came off cruise no one could check in until 3pm and despite arriving off a ship you are not given access to the pool or gym and have to just sit in the lobby unlike other hotels that accommodate cruises in the area
At 3pm the place turns into bedlam with just two staff checking in everyone. Those who have arrived earlier clashing with those just arriving, we were delayed another hour.
When you get to the pool it’s already packed no beds or chairs and the bar staff struggling.
Facilities completely insufficient for number of guests even the lifts have giant queues out the front doors to get up and down to your room most of the day.
Took us 15 minutes to get down in the morning
The property advertises a champagne bar but it’s closed on Sundays so that you have to sit in the lobby or go out.
Coffee machine in room blew up coffee everywhere reported it no one came to fix, or clean up.
If you have a harbour view at weekends the all night club across the harbour has thumping music all night right into the next morning making the windows vibrate to 6am
Honestly if you need a layover after a cruise DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL, its doesn’t cater for you.
The room and the location
Non
Good sized room with fabulous harbour views
Building works next door were a bit of an eyesore but once completed will be another plus for the Darling Harbour location
The view from the 30th floor and the beds.
Nothing really. It was excellent.
Staff friendly
Beds very comfy
Good buffet breakfast
Pool wasn’t heated and water was freezing. Pool staff under the pump and very busy as were breakfast staff.
Unfortunately construction in darling harbour on pool level and from all rooms facing that direction. Understandably unavoidable but the sounds of drilling and construction definitely didn’t make for a relaxing time at the pool.
