The breakfast was so-so. It would be nice to have a better choice of breads and a better selection of fresh fruit.
We LOVED our room decor and the tastefulness of the entire public areas. So well done. It would be lovely to have a list somewhere of the various pieces of art and their creator.
We were put in a room that was not what we paid for which was a pool view room. The only view was a wall. Rather confining.
We ate one meal there which was NOT good. THe carpaccio was not a carpaccio and slightly cooked. My sandwich was three layers of bread. Too much. The menu has a nice selection including small items such as sandwiches. Make a simple toastie or sandwich. After our first night experience we went to eat out instead which is a shame. Everything else was so lovely.
Lovely intimate hotel very close to the centre of Plett which is a delightful town and well worth a visit. Shout out to the staff for getting us a doctors appointment so quickly. Would highly recommend The Old Rectory.
I would prefer the hotel to be adults only, the space around the pool is too intimate for noisy kids. But apart from that it was perfect.
Comfort, lovely decor, cleanliness and location which is a stone throw to the beautiful beach. The staff at this hotel are amazing. Very serene place for relaxation and close to main attractions.
Nothing really
Excellent staff and vibe

The old VOC building breathes history, the personnel makes you feel at home, the location is central though secluded and close to the beach.

It beautiful and so relaxed

The pool area is heavenly, it’s just 1 minute to the beach for a swim, the staff are unbelievable and the hotel just has a lovely relaxed and effortless feel to it! The restaurant is amazing too, honestly didn’t need to leave the hotel for 2 days! It really is the best boutique hotel I have ever stayed in!
Location
The rooms are extremely small with no view and outdoor cold small enclosed garden area and is very poor value for money . The basin tap shot off on its own and water sprayed all over the bathroom . Service of waitress at pool and breakfast very poor and slow . Food was fine but for example breakfast eggs arrived at table all cold and toast was not brought at the same time as the eggs (forgotten) and salt shaker was broken , my son didn’t get a fork after asking twice etc … nobody walked around asking to take drink orders regularly when at the pool , the trees in the entrance area really have a terrible scent turning you off when walking around outside … all in all quite disappointed ! I rather spend 8 k more per night and stay and the Plettenberg hotel (also known to me as a guest there) with a bath and shower in your room (not just a shower as was on offer with this particular room ) and a swimming pool which is heated overlooking the ocean with stunning views from all rooms and proper service 24 hours and eager staff and friendly support etc .

I am not usually one for 5* proper boutique hotels, but as I was travelling down the garden route with my mother, I decided she should have a really spoiling stay one of the nights. It was worth it, everything was a step up from the other places we've stayed, the attentive, helpful and on the ball staff, the excellent drinks, brilliant breakfast and the ambiance of the place.
It's a real gem and protected from the wind too.
