The front door should be boarded up too, not just the plyboarded facade windows…
Pros:

I would like to express my sincere sympathies to the hotel inspector who rated this five stars.

Firstly, for his inability to see.

And secondly, for his inability to smell.

Fortunately for the hotel’s rating, the soundproofing in the rooms is excellent. It’s just a shame one has to open the windows because of the damp and sewage aroma. Not that the inspector would ever have been troubled by either. I only wish he had open the window to experience the Great unwashed of Oxford uni students living their finest years before entering the chosen professions.

Cons:

Dear Mr Inspector,

In lieu of sight or smell, I can only assume you possess an extraordinary sense of hearing, something approaching that of a bat. May I respectfully suggest you reconsider your profession and apply this unique skill set somewhere it might actually be useful? Hotel inspecting, I fear, is not that place.

I shall take the liberty of enquiring whether any vacancies exist in which your superpowers could be properly employed, rather than your deficiencies being displayed for all to see.

I can only apologise that you have been placed in such an unsuitable role. I shall do my best to help rectify the situation for your own sake, for your friends and family, for the Oxford community, and for any future travellers who might otherwise trust the ratings of hotels you have inspected.

(Most of those other hotels are probably fine. I simply cannot believe many of them are quite as dilapidated and horrific as the one in which we had the profound displeasure of staying last night).

The staff were the sole redeeming feature of the entire experience. They remained polite, efficient and faintly apologetic throughout, which is more than can be said for the building, the plumbing, or the inspector who somehow awarded this place five stars. One can only hope management does not take any residual frustration out on the people who actually have to work there.

Helpful staff but the stay was functional rather than pleasant.
Pros:

Staff were very nice and helpful. We lost our luggage and they allowed us to go shopping and check out later so we could change.

Cons:

It's quite run down and has no front lobby or breakfast area.

Very disappointing
Pros:

Niente

Cons:

The hotel is certainly NOT a 5 star hotel. At best a 3 start and Booking should NOT advertise it as a 5 star.

This is not a 5 star hotel - felt like scam, not matching the description. Windowless room.

Cons:

Black hidden door. Dirt on broken bathroom door.

Run away
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Not a five star hotel. No lobby, no bar no restaurant no service, nothing. A 3-star quality. All decoration, lamps, frames, stationery, removed from the rooms comparing with pictures. Looks like it’s going down the drain.
