The hotel was very clean, and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful, and the staff friendly.
Room stuffy, but windows couldn't be opened.
TV in odd place so it couldn't be watched from beds.
Very odd feeling having no staff there evening or night, and having to get the key card from a different hotel added a lot of extra walking to the end of a long day.
The breakfast times were flexible and the rooms for eating were bright and clean. The breakfast ("full English" + alternatives) was nicely prepared. Above all, the staff involved at the reception, in the breakfast room and when cleaning the rooms were helpful, welcoming and consistently cheerful. (A special shout out for Jane at breakfast time, whose outgoing nature gives each guest a bright start to their day ;o)
The location of the Ashley Hotel is perfect, and especially for a first time visitor to Cambridge. Parking space (during my 5-day stay) was ample, and the hotel allows visitors to leave their car for a couple of hours after check-out so that they can walk into the historic centre for last-minute shopping or sightseeing. These facilities are important, as Cambridge is a difficult city both to park and drive in!
The city centre (University Colleges, etc) is a ten-minute walk along the River Cam. The area around is open and very green.
Near the location of the hotel are many cafes, pubs, wine bars and restaurants offering a wide variety of food types. There is also a well-known live music venue. These establishments are - and feel - "local" compared to many similar establishments in the (much!) more touristy city centre.
For first-time visitors to the UK, the plumbing arrangements work fine but might take getting used to.
Nice big room, comfy bed, friendly staff.
Considering its relatively low price we were really pleasantly surprised. Such friendly, helpful staff and an excellent cooked-to-order breakfast. Really good location and a great night’s sleep. If you want somewhere in walking distance to the centre that offers a clean, comfortable stay, we absolutely recommend this hotel. We will definitely stay again as it is excellent value for money.
Nothing.
Le style, le petit déjeuné, l’accueil, le personnel
L’emplacement de l’hotel est idem pour une visite de Cambridge .
Très bon rapport qualité prix
Royal petit déjeuner
Salle de bain un peu petite
The place was nice and well worth the money for value.
Only criticism I have is breakfast service wasn’t great to be honest maybe short staffed, I don’t know but the breakfast it’s self was nice.
Lovely breakfast, friendly atmosphere, big room, good location. Handy having a carpark.
Outside decoration, was tired.
Location and car parking included are the obvious ones.
The breakfast is good with very friendly staff who cook it as you order
The rooms are much larger than is typical, a bonus n a warm summer day
I've stayed here several times a year since it opened and it was getting tatty but they've reworked it nicely and it's well worth the money.... Good pub over the road if you need to eat or dink in the evening
Car park access.
Quiet room at back of hotel.
Bed comfortable.
A bit dated and lots of stairs if at the top.
The breakfast was excellent. Good parking. Spacious room.
N A.
Clean environment and seemed well organised.
Large clean room but small double bed. We are both rall, so bed was aquashed and I did not sleep well.
Although we were leaving early at 4.30am some easy breakfast which we had paid for, would have been welcome as we had a long journey abroad that day.
