Ashley Hotel

My husband and I made this reservation approximately two months in advance in order to attend our 30th matriculation anniversary celebrations in Cambridge, a significant family occasion for which my mother had travelled from Colombia to join us.

Prior to our arrival, I had every reason to believe that the reservation was valid and confirmed. Shortly after making the booking, I contacted the hotel via Booking.com to enquire whether an earlier check-in might be possible. A response was provided indicating that staff would not be available before the standard check-in time. The day before our arrival, I also received further communications containing detailed check-in instructions.

These communications clearly demonstrated that the reservation remained active and was being treated as valid.

However, upon arriving at Hotel Ashley on 4 July 2026, we were informed that no room was available and that the hotel had no record of our reservation. We were effectively left stranded despite having made and relied upon a confirmed booking months in advance.

This situation raises serious concerns regarding Hotel Ashley's and Booking.com booking management practices.

If apears that Hotel Ashley chooses to advertise and sell rooms through Booking.com, but it does not ensure that the rooms offered for sale are genuinely available and capable of being honoured. Hotel Ashely or Booking.com should not be offering accommodation through third-party platforms if their systems are unable to accurately reflect availability or if they are routinely allowing reservations to be accepted beyond their available capacity.

Customers should not be expected to bear the consequences of failures between the hotel and its distribution platforms.

The situation we lived on 4th July inevitably gives the impression that priority may have been given to customers paying higher rates while guests who booked earlier through online platforms were left without accommodation.

No shower in family room

Everything including the rubbish breakfast.
Windows were broken and would not stay open. Tv was at the strangest position in the room.

It looks slightly run down from the outside. The rooms are old fashioned, but that added to the charm.

Decor is tired. Rooms are hot. But we stay here because of the price and location and only for 1 night each time

It was hot and there is no air-con. We had a small desk fan which wasn’t enough.

Alles ok hoor!

The outside of the property looks tired and the paint is peeling on the windows.
It is only staffed for part of the day.
There are several steps around, up to room etc and no lift.
Be aware if this might affect you

booked into onehotel and was then told I was in this hotel - further away and not convenient

Could do with a plug in the room near the bed. Small niggle though

Il n'est pas possible de prendre une douche dans notre chambre, il y a une baignoire mais sans pommeau de douche. L'hôtel n'est pas climatisé donc notre chambre est devenue une fournaise lors de la canicule,

Es war unser erster Tag in England und wir waren mit dem Frühstück noch nicht so vertraut. Darauf haben wir bei der Bestellung hingewiesen. Als wir dann was nachbestellten, erhielten wir nichts mehr. Schade - so was trübt dann den Eindruck.
