The Virginia hotel experience was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had and I’ve been traveling for over 15 years. I’ve went to wedding venues across states and I did not expect one of the best hotels to be in an unexpected place like Lynchburg, Virginia. Jonathan, who I believe was the manager made it his top priority to take care of every single one of his guests and made me feel like I was completely taken care of. I was the best man of a wedding, and while Jonathan had many other guests, take care of still helped me out with some pre-wedding tasks. The valet team is fantastic. The front desk team excellent as well. I highly recommend that if you’re in the area stop by this hotel and pay the extra for The Better experience.
We held our 40th high school reunion at this beautiful property. I cannot offer enough praise for the overnight accommodations, the property and its location in relation to beautiful downtown Lynchburg, and especially the service received prior to and during our event. Shelby, Danielle, Shelley, and Justin were amazing from start to finish--very flexible and accommodating. Tish who worked the front desk was especially helpful throughout our time. She is an amazing employee. Thanks for everything. We'll be back for our 50th!
We had our 40th High School Reunion and everything was fantastic! A few people that went the extra mile for us was John, Shelby, Shelly, David and Jamie. Looking forward to visiting again.
Great all around. Great location, Great restaurant, great staff, outstanding room. Amazing bath robes.
This was our first time staying in the downtown Lynchburg area. We were traveling for a wedding and ended up booking here last minute after first booking a cheaper hotel on the other end of town. We left that accommodation due to hygiene issues and broken appliances, so arriving late at night to this hotel was such a pleasant surprise. Staff was so friendly and accommodating and we loved that we still had an option to grab something to eat without having to order in or travel back out. The room was clean and comfortable, all of the appliances we used worked as expected, and we felt really spoiled by this experience as people who do not tend to travel frequently. We were also upgraded for free to a suite because there were no rooms in the type that we originally booked for both nights, so it was very nice that it was automatically considered a necessity to be in the same room for both nights. The food after 10pm was, to our surprise, very good. They let us order to-go and we felt the amount of food and quality was really good considering the price and how late it was. Our servers during breakfast were very sweet and considerate of us. They looked as though they had a very strong team working together. Breakfast was also good and fresh when we received it.
Our breakfast at the skyline cafe was a lengthier experience than we would’ve preferred due to back-ups in the kitchen. Our servers stayed busy and moving, but ticket times were very long. They were nice enough to voluntarily compensate one of our meals for the delay. It felt as if there may have not been enough staff either in the kitchen or on the floor to provide service for guests. We arrived around 9:45AM and did not end up receiving food until about 10:30AM. We saw other guests who were sat further from the kitchen waiting much longer to get an order in, receive food, and pay. Breakfast portions felt a lot smaller than some of the food we had the night before also.
The bathroom sink overflow drain, as well as the inner rim of the sink, were quite gross. That was probably one of the only truly “dirty” thing we saw while there; however it was unfortunately very noticeable from both the reflection in the mirror and when looking down while brushing teeth/washing face.
Our bed was also quite worn out/old but we have definitely slept on worse. We only mention it because at first we thought something beneath the frame may have collapsed and made the mattress sink deeper, but then we realized the mattress just had these permanent human-sized valleys with a firm spot in the middle from age and wear.
We also wish the tv had more streaming app options, but we overall enjoyed the interface of this tv compared to other hotels.
This hotel is family friendly and the staff is AMAZING! Jonathan and Brandon were so helpful and were always a pleasure to have a conversation with. The front desk staff is very sweet and energetic as well. I would definitely come back and stay again when in Lynchburg. If you are ever in the area please don’t hesitate and just give this hotel a try.
Our stay at The Virginian was wonderful. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The food and drinks at both Skyline and William and Henry were incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.
We stayed here following our day at the National D Day Memorial on a Friday. We are Hilton Honors (HH) members. Using the HH app we checked in and used digital keys on my wife’s iPhone 12. Flawless! This is a historic structure with state of the art renovations. Valet parked the car across the street. Our room was immaculate and had 14 foot ceilings! It was quiet. The staff left the AC fan on probably to mask the sound of the kitchen hood vent a few feet from our window. It worked. We heard nothing. No views from this room which was ok for us. We went straight to sleep on two double beds. Room was huge! Had dinner and breakfast in the rooftop restaurant. (Separate review.)
Excellent staff! Well done HH! Thank you!
The room was amazing and clean and big and spacious
In the bar upstairs, the outdoor dining portion had so many spiders on the roof. I know since it's outdoors it's hard to keep bugs out but theses webs and spiders have been there for awhile and we immediately went back inside.
4-Star Luxury Stay – Highly Recommended!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel, and it truly exceeded my expectations in every way. The rooms are exquisite, featuring elegant furnishings, premium linens, and thoughtful details that create a refined and comfortable retreat. The overall atmosphere is one of pure luxury—sophisticated yet welcoming, perfect for both business travelers and leisure guests.
The on-site restaurant delivers delicious, high-quality cuisine with excellent service, making it a standout dining option without ever leaving the property. Room service was equally impressive, convenient for late nights or relaxed evenings in.
What truly set this stay apart was the outstanding guest service. Johnathon, the Client Services Manager, went above and beyond, personally assisting with everything from small requests to even valeting my car himself. His professionalism and genuine care made me feel like a valued guest throughout my stay.
The location is ideal—just a 10-minute walk to downtown, where you’ll find an abundance of restaurants and attractions to explore. For fitness enthusiasts, the 24/7 gym is well-equipped and nicely maintained, featuring dumbbells up to 75 pounds, two ellipticals, two exercise bikes, three treadmills, and a versatile cable pulley machine (functional trainer/crossover station). It’s one of the better hotel gyms I’ve encountered.
Parking is straightforward with self-parking at $12/night or valet at $17/night. Overall, this hotel offers an outstanding balance of luxury, convenience, and value. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a premium experience. Thank you to the entire team—especially Johnathon—for making my visit memorable!
The perfect hotel with the comfort, ambiance and special touches that made this hotel stay -perfect. Jonathan might have the best kept secret at the hotel. He handled the valet and security. He was knowledgeable and caring. We'll have his number on speed dial if our daughter ends up going to Liberty University.
