Had a fantastic stay at The Slate. Staff are excellent and very handy having the restaurant and bar downstairs after a long day travelling. Note that rooms are on first floor up a staircase, no lift. Well appointed and cosy room with modern bathroom amenities. Would definitely stay again.
Main reception is combined with restaurant and bar customers, not very personal welcome. The staff did welcome us kindly, but the access through common areas and kitchen waiting staff traffic was awkward. The steep and high steps too were uncomfortable to ascend and descend with or without luggage.
I booked the hotel as a treat for my partners birthday.
I felt the food was a little pricey for the choices available.
Also we were quite a bit away from anything so if we wanted to have a drink together we wwre a bit stuck on places to go.
However the room and amenities were great adn staff helpful.
Very nice homely place with friendly staff made us feel at home from the start , lovely rooms with comfy beds .food was delicious with good portions .
lovely accomadtion staff friendly and lovely food would recommend
Lovely little place. Friendly welcoming staff and comfortable spotlessly clean room. Excellent food served in the restaurant. We would definitely recommend.
Nobody on reception when I arrived but kept entertained by locals in the bar until someone arrived. Room was lovely - comfortable and clean. Sink a little small. Nice that the receptionist called me when I was out to check I had the door code and to take breakfast order. Breakfast was good. Convenient location for Bangor
The Slate Hotel offers a pleasant stay in a convenient location. The property is exceptionally clean, and the staff are both friendly and attentive, which made our visit very welcoming.
We stayed in a family room (Room 8 – Pont y Pandy) on the first floor, which featured two comfortable double beds. One point to note is that the railway line runs directly behind the hotel, with trains passing approximately every half hour in the evening. While this did not affect us significantly, lighter sleepers may wish to be aware.
The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the area, being just 20 minutes from Llanberis and the Snowdon Mountain Railway, and within easy reach of Bangor and the main train stations.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would not hesitate to recommend The Slate Hotel.
Lovely little place with plenty of outdoor seating for a drink from the bar. Good location for getting around sightseeing.
Breakfast was good and staff were pleasant and polite.
Room was nice with ample wardrobe and draw space.
Only downside was the room was very hot and the fan didn’t make a great deal of difference. Due to heat in the room we couldn’t shut the window and the noise from the kitchen extractor and the railway line immediately behind caused some sleep disruption.
Would stay again but would ask for a different room.
Location was good, hotel was lovely apart from the noise of the railway line. For future this should be recorded on your booking info, the window didn’t open much and the room was too hot to sleep
Really friendly and helpful staff .. food was really good quality, well cooked and well presented.
The room was clean spacious and the bed really comfortable
We had a great stay, spotlessly clean lovely rooms, very friendly helpful staff and delicious food.
Room was pristinely clean. Beds were comfortable. Nice en suite bathroom with good shower. Facilities to make a hot drink were replenished on request. Staff were friendly without being intrusive. Didn't eat supper in the restaurant because veggie options were limited. Breakfast was awesome. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone wanting accommodation in the area. Very close to Penrhyn castle and Bangor centre.
A lovely one night stay.
Really enjoyable stay. Beautiful location close enough to Bangor but far enough away. Smart clean hotel with personality
Really helpful staff
A great find and amazing value for money for the single room available for my stay. The only downside is the nearness of the north Wales mainline train service, if you are a light sleeper. I was conscious of a passing train at around 0530 but went back to sleep.
Food was excellent - both dinner and breakfast.
Great service, fantastic food and a great location, rooms were nice also, would recommend
Everything was great! Nothing bad to point out. If I had to nit pick, I'd say the "Rock" keyrings are a bit bulky to carry in your trousers. Apart from that nothing else, the Staff was really friendly!
The Slate is a hotel full of charm and warmth, clearly run with love and care. We enjoyed a comfortable and relaxed stay. The restaurant serves delicious food and we were in a great location to enjoy north Wales, with lots to do nearby. Thoroughly recommend!
We stayed here last year and we were impressed with this hotel.
Our recent stay, did not disappoint- friendly staff, comfortable, clean room and excellent meal with great service.
This hotel is a perfect stop over if you have an early ferry the next day, as it is only 25 minutes from the port
